  1. I played Ice Climber when it was first released on the NES, one of my all time favourite retro games Wrecking Crew is also pretty fun once you get the hang of it
  2. You've totally missed the point. Some cringeworthy statements there
  3. Great thanks, I've preordered with ShopTo (for the first time!). It says if they lower the price that I'll be charged that, rather than what I preordered at, which is cool.
  4. What would make this game more Super Mario World 2? The interconnected map obviously is a good start. The map music from the SNES game applied to this would be next! But we'll probably just get the same old rehashed bland tunes from all the other NSMB games.
  5. Stupid question... do all these pre-orders only take the money on dispatch? ie. you can cancel anytime?
  6. A 1080p Mario Galaxy game can't come quick enough!!
  7. I forgot how nice that intro sequence from Galaxy 2 is. NSMBU looks even worse and even more lazy now!!
  8. I love this game, probably even more than the original; played it when it was released back in the day, great times. It's got a fantastic darker style/mood compared to the cutesy modern Zeldas you get these days. Wish the next Zelda could go back to it. Fantastic game, yes it was difficult, but that just made it all the more rewarding. Every little battle was tough and tactical, as it should be. I still remember the sense of doom when those Iron Knuckles appeared on screen, particularly the red or blue ones.
  9. Totally agree, that intro cutscene was cringeworthy. So dated looking especially the bit in Peach's castle
  10. I love how they've got an inter-connected map again, a la Super Mario World... but couldn't they have put in a bit more effort in designing it? They'd struggle to make that any uglier! As lazy as the rest of the game
  11. Shame about the fugly title graphic
  12. Sad at the lack of effort they seem to have put into NSMBU. Some levels look nice but the re-used graphics, sound effects, gameplay mechanics etc is just really disappointing. This is a launch title, Mario's first HD game, and all we get is yet another New SMB game that plays the exact same way as every other zzzzzzzz.
  13. THAT level looks great, but there's plenty more that look lazy and rehashed. Wouldn't be surprised if they used the exact same Castle theme they've had in the last two NSMBs, as one example. I do LOVE the SMB2 jingle at 0:24 though, that was nice
  14. Can someone help, looking for the official Nintendo link for the EU broadcast...?
  15. Why bother watching the Japanese one, you won't be able to understand any of it (I assume). Surely best to save the surprise for the EU broadcast
  16. I think that's quite optimistic, I think $299/£250 is more likely
  17. Beware of over-hyping what will probably be a pretty standard price/date/first party line up reveal. Will there really be that much to get excited about? Hopefully I'm wrong
  18. Is the US one earlier in the day, I assume they won't leave anything out of the EU one and I can just watch that?
  19. I really hope a lot of those visuals are just unfinished and rushed for the trailer. A few of them look like they may as well have been upscaled from the 3DS game. Does look a better game than NSMBW though, with a bit more originality. Hopefully there'll be a great new trailer on Thursday
  20. I have a bad feeling NSMBU won't be a launch title, but will be out a couple of months later
  21. As someone who was in love with Balloon Fight on the NES when it was released, I can't wait for Balloon Trip, looks great! Although could have done with more retro sound-effects. Nintendo Land is looking fantastic, I would happily pay for it
  22. Surely not! Will we actually see some invention and originality in the world design? Not the predictably boring as ****: Fields > Desert > Tropical > Snow > Forest > Mountain > Lava progression we've been seeing for years?
  23. Retro_Link, you are my hero. Very well said, I totally agree about the look of the game. Things like the 3D warp pipes look horrible against the 2D background I like what I'm hearing about the gameplay mechanics and it being one large map with some seemingly interesting worlds, but this is the only screenshot that has impressed me:
