The quality Ninty have been putting out this past year or so has been pretty phenomenal

Droool. All about art style though, hope they nail it, like they clearly have for MK8. Though if a ten minute period in my dreams last night were any indication, Zelda U will end up being a horribly underwhelming mostly 2D side-scrolling game.

Without a doubt the most beautiful game Nintendo have ever made, and if this is what they can do with landscapes and vistas I'd be more than happy for the next Mario game to ditch space and stay on land!

I wasn't so impressed with that particular IGN vid but their usual standard is very good. Though I do miss Rich, and to a slightly lesser extent Audrey. -
Any GIFs of Moo Moo Meadows floating about?
-
The trailers definitely use the replay / MKTV footage but I still think the regular behind-kart camera angle shows off the game at it's best. At least in terms of the visuals.

Moo Moo Meadows looks absolutely SPECTACULAR!!!!!! If anyone finds a gif please post it

Donut Plains in HD. Jaw on the floor. As good as the new trailer was (that remixed Rainbow Road sound track!!), the visuals REALLY look stunning when the perspective is as above, and not in free flowing replay mode.

This looks a million times better than Yoshi's New Island. It'll be my first Kirby game, looking forward to it

So where are you all pre-ordering from? I kind of want the red shell key ring, or the bullet bill one, can't decide. I take it the red shell keyring is only available on the Nintendo shop? Do they typically deliver for release day?

Use Rosalina, and a couple of Tanooki suits, that helps a lot

A total lack of day/night cycle was another serious misstep from Skyward Sword, it just provided no variety to the gameplay. Hopefully they'll put it back for Zelda U, maybe with phases of the moon like in Wind Waker, and the puzzling that ensued from that. And I've said it a million times, BRING BACK THE DEKU LEAF!! The ability to just be able to float anywhere you want was a genius move from Nintendo, similar to the sense of wonder that Mario being able to fly in M64 had IMO. -

Maybe fan fiction is more your thing -
Super Mario Kart has the best battle modes courses of any MK game, fact. (the feather and lightning fast shells help in this regard too)

Megan Fox and Michael Bay, way to ruin a film. I did chuckle at the end though.

IGN have a great '2D vs 3D Zelda' 5 man video discussion up at the moment. Marty Sliva makes some great points about Nintendo needing to get back to taking risks in the style of MM and WW, not pandering to a bunch of precious, close-minded fanboys who don't know what they actually want. Ok the second half of that sentence was from me, but still he talks good sense (and I wasn't referring to any of you gents btw). In terms of the visuals, a lot of love for cartoony Zelda, but Peer makes a fair enough point that to get more people interested in Wii U, they may have to go safe and do like the TP HD reveal. It's a shame that a game needs to be 'compromised' just so that they can sell more hardware though. -

Young Link would be good, how about a return to chubby Link, none of this anorexic fairy boy rubbish -

You can't have a Zelda game without one of the NPC's saying "Link? That's a funny name" - But I agree with you that voice acting doesn't really fit with Zelda, I'd be fine with them leaving it out again. And yet Nintendo always get plaudits for their stunning visuals. If you want gritty realistic graphics that will look dated in a few years, go play Xbone or PS4. Try and forget about the visuals for a second, is there anything you'd like to see in the actual game itself, rather than the presentation? -

Just a random question... how would NPC's pronounce your game's character name if you go for something other than Link? I'm hoping them spending time revisiting Wind Waker has inspired them to create something similar. I don't mean in terms of visuals, but more in terms of the overworld and charm. I don't mind if the visuals are cute or gritty, or if the tone is fun or serious, they just need to improve the framework and gameplay. Little things like what Grazza mentions above for example. -

I agree Twilight Princess is generic Zelda, probably a safe way for them to get the fanboys back onside after The Wind Waker's controversy. Skyward Sword had a few new ideas but I'm not sure how successful they were. The world, above and below the clouds, felt dead to me and the way everything was disconnected was a huge problem IMO. Both great games but the quality of OOT, MM and WW mean we judge them by far higher standards than usual. Also if the soundtrack to Skyward Sword was the best they could do I'd be more than happy to see them ditch orchestrated music for Zelda U. Apart from a couple of tracks it was mostly terrible, especially compared with the tracks of the previous four console games. -

In Phantom Hourglass, Spirit Tracks and arguably Skyward Sword we've already lost it: openworld exploration. There are plenty of games on PS4 and XBone that would cater for that kind of thing. High fidelity visuals are a given. The issue with Zelda in the last few iterations hasn't been its presentation, it's been its gameplay. -

That's a visual style though, what about actual gameplay, you know the most important part! Zelda must be the game series were fans obsess over the visual style more than any other. Personally I don't care if it's cartoony, cel-shaded, a world made of yarn, or dark and gritty, just give me a really good Zelda GAME underneath all that. -

Majora's Mask disagrees with you! I think we'll see quite a lot to be honest. They could have shown something last year apparently but that would have been overkill with all the other announcements they made. This year's E3 could be quite a damp squib compared to last year, so the Zelda reveal needs to be big. -

Something a bit risky and different would be good, the Zelda series is getting a bit stale, safe, play by numbers and repetitive. The on-rails disconnected overworld of the two DS games and Skyward Sword were huge turn offs. Open world EXPLORATION please. Oh and bring the magic back, an actual return for the magic metre would help in that regard. No robots.
