Not really. It's a Spiritual Successor. A different IP but a similar game. It's like Mighty No. 9 and Mega Man.
-
No, it wasn't. Everblue was a similar game, but Endless Ocean is a new IP. Not too many at the moment. The Wonderful 101 is the only one of note.

Xenoblade is technically a continuation of the Xenogears and if I put Mario & Sonic in it, I'd have complaints that it's Mario so doesn't count. I didn't list any spin-off series. I'll get to work on Sony and Microsoft first party IPs, but it's a tricky situation as you never know what new IPs are done by them. Gears, for example, was just an exclusive until recently.

In anticipation of a rebuttal, here's the new IPs since 2006. These are financed by Nintendo, and often co-developed Endless Ocean Captain Rainbow Disaster: Day of Crisis FlingSmash Zangeki no Reginleiv Xenoblade Chronicles The Last Story Kiki Trick Pandora's Tower Maboshi's Arcade Eco Shooter: Plant 530 Fluidity Line Attack Heroes Sing Party The Wonderful 101 Art Academy Hotel Dusk Master of Illusion Fossil Fighters Style Savvy Nintendo presents: Style Boutique Tomodachi Collection Steel Diver Freakyforms Sakura Samurai: Art of the Sword Dillon's Rolling Western Pullblox Ketzal's Corridors HarmoKnight Kersploosh Tokyo Crash Mobs Rusty's Real Deal Baseball Nintendo Pocket Football Club Among countless other spin-off series of existing IPs. I think I must have missed a dozen or so, too. Yes, some may be download only, but why does that matter? Plus, like I said, some were successful while others not so much.

I agree. Many of the levels in 3D World were imaginative, creative and just downright awesome. The Legend of Zelda: A Link Between Worlds is also similar. Great ideas within it. The Last of Us, however. Gameplay was meh. Story was good. Presentation was great. I have been maintaining that it'd make a much better movie than a game. Good thing it has a movie coming out. The fact that so many continually want every game to be a "game changer" and to "progress the industry" is ridiculous. Games are meant to be fun. If a game is fun, then who cares if it doesn't change the industry? I argue otherwise. Nintendo put their new ideas into existing franchises. You don't need to throw it into a new IP just for people to think it's new. That's just ridiculous. Key figures aren't leaving the company because they're doing what they enjoy and have creative freedom. Again, a lack of a new IP doesn't mean lack of creativity. Look at many of the new IPs on the other formats. They may be new IPs, but do they actually do much new? New story & characters, but many of them have similar gameplay to so many games that have come before. Which leads me to my next point. Since Wii Sports, Nintendo have published, financed and created a plethora of new IPs. Some have done well, others have not. Need I break out the list again?

Could just be lack of imagination on your part.
-
They're not "focusing" on it. It's part of their expansion. It is taking nothing away from their console, handheld or game development. That's even increasing, too.

You realise that the Vitality Sensor isn't the QoL platform, right?

General Gaming Sales/Charts Discussion

Considering the PS4 has apparently been outselling the Xbox One here 3:1 on a near weekly basis, it puts things into perspective even further. -

Didn't Wind Waker HD increase Wii U sales by 685%? A percentage is rubbish without the initial figures... -
NES Castlevania this week

No. However he's wrong and idiotic far more often than he is correct. Seriously...he suggested Super Mario Bros 3 on iOS and claimed the GBA's control system was no better than mobile.

Even a blind squirrel will occasionally find an acorn. The problem with Pachter is that his job is to secure short term profits for investors. Due to the way Nintendo works (Iwata focuses on game quality and long term health of the company), he hasn't been able to make money on them. Basically, Nintendo is contrary to everything he believes in. Hell, he says Nintendo should go mobile now. iOS App store made $26bn in revenue last year. Nintendo made $5.8bn in revenue last year. As such, they'd have to get 22.8% of the iOS App Store's revenue in order to reach the same point as they are at now. Now, consider the amount of developers on that platform. The money just isn't there unless you hit very big with a game like Flappy Birds, Angry Birds or Candy Crush Saga. It boggles the mind that people don't see this.

That's the plan. Still doing my exercise daily averaging around 10km a day so it'll be a while :p

Just finished the Tour of Italy. I have now toured every course in Wii Fit U once

He postulated the idea of getting EA to develop a Mario game. He put forth the QoL platform as if it was wearable tech when Iwata made clear that it wasn't wearable tech. For someone whose job it is to get the facts, provide analyses and put forth suggestions to investors, he sure does ignore facts and live in his own world. I mean hell, he seemed surprised that Iwata hasn't said the Wii U is dead. With software coming out over the next year, at least, that would cause irreparable damage to Nintendo. He has no business sense.

Just finished 100%ing this game. Great fun, even if some may find the game "easy". Trust me, when you get further into it, you won't be saying that. You do have to be tactical. Trust me.

I'm in World 4 now and am really not seeing why people hate on this game. It's not bad at all. Some bits are even challenging for me, a veteran gamer.
-
Exactly. The challenge is to capture the Pokémon flawlessly. Yes, you can move Pokémon anywhere (as you can do in many other Match 3 games), however if you don't match more when against multiple Pokémon, or don't keep a combo going, you will lose and you will get attacked. Unlocking Pokémon and levels is where the challenge is. Having to flawlessly capture a Pokémon with huge health to unlock a level gave me many a frustrated moment
-
It's a Match 3 style puzzle. That's what you do in every Match 3 game.
-
I disagree. I find it vastly improved on the original
-
Be fair, you both linked to the rhythm levels, which I highly praise. However, there's like 6 of them, each with a remix. That's a small part of the game. The overall package isn't that awesome.
