It's strange how this has happened now rather than when it was more popular. We used it for years with no trouble, although I must admit I was always surprised that you could attach any photo you wanted. Not meaning to sound elitist, but I wonder if the 2DS and Pokémon have brought in a new audience that has generated this problem? Big success brings in a huge new market.

It's complicated because they need to go with original ideas when they're sure they're good (like Wind Waker), but I also think they need to stop reinventing the wheel for the sake of it (Skyward Sword). Basically, Aonuma is a great director. I don't follow it closely, but I believe he directed Wind Waker and Twilight Princess, and had more of a producer's role with Skyward Sword? Aonuma is still the right man for the job, I'd say. OK, I'd like to play another Zelda as magical as Wind Waker, but even another one as good as Twilight Princess would be very welcome, in my eyes. Haven't really played many games as memorable as that since it was released.

It's interesting that you think of it like that. If you go to a really well-run place, it's actually far more like receiving a service. You have to prepare yourself in the way you're told (shave), and you're not allowed to touch the girl anywhere other than she lets you (usually the hips). I'm not being flippant but it really is not so different to getting a haircut etc, in that you pay and have to behave exactly as they stipulate. Also, what about men who go their whole lives without being able to get sex? Isn't it a good thing that they might be able to buy it from someone willing? These men may well respect women just fine, but that won't get them what they want on its own. Let's not pretend women don't judge men on their job and social/financial status. The last thing is that no job is really good for you - that's why they pay you to do it! At times, my job has been hugely stressful, probably advanced my grey hairs and had other effects on my body. I do it because that's the deal - they pay me money and I take on the stress (give them my mind and body, actually!) Women who use their bodies (prostitutes, strippers, lap dancers) may find it far easier to earn a living like that rather than take on the types of jobs those who are against the sex trade would like them to have. Women who find it natural to use their sexuality for a living might find it extremely stressful and unsuccessful to conform and compete with the rest of the market in office jobs etc.

I'm strongly in favour of legalised brothels - not just on retail estates, but in town centres too. If a girl wants to sell sex and a man wants to buy it, what's the problem? I probably wouldn't use them myself because of the health risks, but in my opinion it should be as easy as dropping in to get your hair cut.

The Legend of Zelda: A Link Between Worlds
Grazza replied to Hero-of-Time's topic in Nintendo Gaming
Oh, for goodness' sake, it's a Darknut. It's no more Spirit Tracks than Wind Waker. Besides, you've deliberately ignored what I said - not that the puzzles aren't complex, just that (remakes aside) Nintendo no longer trusts us to explore or use "complex" controls. -

Quite. It's not the hand-holding that's the problem, more that Nintendo has been setting up recent Zeldas as a series of "scenes" to play through, with minimal exploration. That and the fact they no longer think we can use R-triggers or C-sticks, resulting in very simplified games. -
OK, I have these spare: Puffer-Fish TV Octopus Chair Flounder Table Jellyfish Lamp x 2 Marine Pop Wall ...And am looking for these: Sea-Anemone Bed Crab Clock Football-Fish Lamp Squid Chair Dab Table Marine Pop Floor Curious that I got pretty much the same ones as @RedShell and the exact opposite of @Eenuh.

Ah, it seems we got much the same spares, unfortunately! I'll double-check but I don't think I have anything you need. Had a good day with Animal Crossing, personally. I actually went into town and got some StreetPasses. Thanks to that, I was able to order some more "Trendy" items for my house, such as the Zero Lamp, Editor's Chair and the fantastic Shower Stall! That's one of my favourite items I've seen so far! Got back home and spent an hour on the Fishing Tournament. I honestly kept getting the new record so many times I thought I'd get more furniture than I did, but hey, I got the Metal Guitar and that counts as Trendy, so that's good. What I did was start out with Rainbow Trout, then moved onto Black Bass, then Dabs and Sea Bass. After that I went to the Island and just beat that record with a Ribbon Eel, then a Ray, some Giant Trevally, some Marlin, a Napoleon Fish and - finally - a Whale Shark, which showed up about 4pm (or a bit before). Haven't turned it on yet to see if I've won, but I suppose I have! It's good fun and hopefully we'll get that furniture we need next time.

The Legend of Zelda: A Link Between Worlds

Wow, that's brilliant! Superb music. -
As long as they give people the option, that's fine, but please remember StreetPass Relay is absolutely brilliant for those of us who have trouble getting StreetPasses. I got 7 the other day and that was fantastic. There are so many Puzzle Pieces to collect now, and furniture in Animal Crossing, I'd hate to go back to the Bad Old Days of going out and coming home without StreetPasses.

I wouldn't want SNES 2 as an actual console. I'd rather Nintendo got into the tablet market properly - 7", 1080p with a d-pad and 2 buttons. So it'd be more like a NES 2 in terms on controls, but the games would continue the SNES in spirit. I've said before that I'd like Nintendo to set up "Nintendo Sprite Division" to make exactly this type of game - hi-res 2D games with lots of layers and sprite-scaling. The problem to me is that they are making a lot of games in 2.5D, which (IMO) doesn't quite have the appeal of pure 2D or 3D. So if they set up SNES 2/Nintendo Sprite Division as some sort of service for a tablet or handheld, I'd be very much in favour of it.

Dragon Quest 1-8 all coming to iOS and Android
Grazza replied to Happenstance's topic in General Gaming Discussion
Ah well, seems I don't understand the politics of this. I just thought it was a cash-in, albeit a potentially good one. Not having any experience of smartphone/tablet gaming, I have very little idea of what it's like. Don't get me wrong, I am as concerned over Dragon Quest's future as anyone else, although I have been for a long time. Dragon Quest VIII was, to me, perfect. All they had to do was try to surpass that. Alarm bells rang when I heard IX was going to be a DS game, although I am glad they made it as it was a great experience. Dragon Quest X being an MMO though, and not even by Level-5... sorry, no. I doubt I'll ever play it (and I consider Dragon Quest my favourite series of all). So whether these Android/iOS ports are any good or not, I join others in wanting a proper, offline-optional Dragon Quest XI that at least tries to better the old ones. -
Dragon Quest 1-8 all coming to iOS and Android

Seems like good news to me - it makes me want to get the best Android tablet to play them on. Many tablets are 1080p now so (assuming these ports are done well), I don't see any disadvantage to playing them this way rather than on an HDTV. Only thing is, I'd want to use a stylus, so assuming that's possible this seems a positive thing. -
I have a favour to ask, please. On Saturday it's the first Fishing Tournament. The furniture prizes are great, so if you get any spares, can you keep them so we can swap with each other? Well, you probably won't get spares in the first month, but you know what I mean! I'm going to try and collect the full set myself, but I'll probably fail miserably!

I wonder if they're more common at night? I only say that because that's when I found mine. Can't remember which type of tree, but I think it was Oak or Cedar - not a fruit tree. Some extra info from IGN. Apparently you only have to swing your net at the tree: http://uk.ign.com/wikis/animal-crossing-new-leaf/Bagworm

Hmm, I wouldn't say it gets more complex, but you'll probably want to "feel" where all the walls are (and draw them in). There are many two-way shortcuts that you can see from both directions, but only activate from one. It's quite important you mark all these shortcuts properly as the main dungeons each have three floors and when you're ready to fight the boss, you'll want to get there as quickly as possible. Plus it's useful to mark Chop, Mine and Take points, as the items you get from them are generally more valuable than items the enemy drops.
-
Yeah, had to shake 20 or 30 trees and got stung twice by bees before I found one. Make sure you have your Bug Net ready!
-
Beaten the 3rd Boss now at level 45, which felt about right (although I didn't level-up, so the game probably thought I was over-levelled). Many of the bosses and FOEs are mild puzzles, making you consider the room and the environment - it's sort of a nice idea, but on balance I don't actually like it. I preferred it when a boss just sat in a room waiting in one spot!
-
Can you not play it whilst it's plugged in (to the console) like the PS3 controller? If not that's crazy.
-
Yep, I'm still playing it. Just so busy this year, I can't focus on it as much as the older ones. And quite honestly I can't stop playing Animal Crossing either, which has limited my time on this. But... Etrian Odyssey IV is a very, very good game. If anything, it gets better as it goes on, as you unlock better classes and the ability to subclass them. For example, you might use a Sniper early on because they are the only ones who can use binds (eg. stop the enemy breathing fire at you/swiping you with their hands/hitting you with their tail). However, not too much later you unlock a class that has more success with binds, so for example you can have that as one character and give him/her the Medic subclass. Personally, I got to the 3rd Boss and left it for a while, but it really is a good game and I'll be back to it before long. In fact, looking at my Activity Log, my three most-played 3DS games are Animal Crossing: New Leaf, Fire Emblem: Awakening and Etrian Odyssey IV. I can definitely see this being in my Top 3 favourites, it's just that it's been an amazing year for 3DS.

Yeah, you have to feed those fish-men - the ones that say "Hoy, small fry!"

Been enjoying this recently, thanks to visits from the very generous @RedShell and the wise-cracking @Sprout! I have finally completed all my Trendy furniture (Astro, Minimalist, Modern, Sleek and Stripe) and have a house score of 1,566,000! Is 2,000,000 the limit? I am fully up to date with fish and bugs, although I caught the Spiny Lobster about 30 minutes into October. This month's new additions are nice and easy: Bagworm - All day (shake trees) Dab - All day, Medium (ocean) Yellow Perch, All day, Medium (river) Next month it's the crabs, so a lot of diving unfortunately!

Sounds excellent. I really want this now: http://www.nintendolife.com/reviews/3ds/etrian_odyssey_untold_the_millennium_girl

Ah, yes please! I'm still after these: Minimalist Bed Minimalist End Table Minimalist Lamp Neutral Wall That'd be great, thanks.
