Apparently loads of people in America are struggling to find a store with the game in stock. Whether this is a supplier issue or if the stores thought because of it's bargain price it wouldn't sell at all :/. Sounds bad, will probably effect first week sales. This game is shaping up to be the sleeper hit of the year though, goodbye katamari!
-
To be honest though, if they put this out before Christmas Nintendo would have even less hope in keeping Wii stocks level with demand over Christmas. That's my theory on the Smash Bro's delay too, but yeah, I know for certain if this game was released before Xmas I wouldn't have a hope in hell of buying it. Already got a growing list of games on my to buy list >_>. I'm not sure when I want this to come out, cause I can't really get it when I get Smash Bro's :/. Maybe if this releases early Feb and Smash Bro's late March, er, yeah.

They'll change the price closer to release. They're always off the ball to the release date and RRP. Even if they don't change it, there will be a site somewhere which does :P. Or an Ebay seller or something.

I've always said this game would be complete for me with king dedede and Ridley. Half way there! .

PS3 Price Cut... and Wii still sells more
jammy2211 replied to Zechs Merquise's topic in Nintendo Gaming
Well, I'm happy to agree with that. I wasn't really including handhelds, but obviously DS kicks arse in the RPG department far beyond what any other console can hope to do :P. Just started Final Fantasy III today, gotta say, it's shaping up pretty epic. -

I don't really want to keep bringing up this debate, but if 360 isn't leading with RPG's even now, who is? :/ -

I guess we're talking about different time frames or something, I've not once mentioned PSU. I'm more talking about Mass Effect, Eternal Sonata, The Last Remnent and Lost Oddysey. Which all look truly epic, to me. Non of them are out yet (except Eternal Sonata), but they're out in the next 3 months. Considering the Wii doesn't have a single RPG with a release date over here yet, I'd say it's perfectly valid to compare that for now. We seem to agree for the most part, just that you can't acknowledge that in the short term future the 360 has the best RPG line up. It's such a stupid argument because the Wii doesn't have any RPG's at all with a release date yet, so even if all the 360 had was PSU, it'd still win out :/. -

You've obviously not played any 360 RPG's so I guess it's a pretty pointless argument. However, it's obvious the Wii will get the majority of the RPG's you speak off. PS2 got them all last generation for one reason, it's sales kicked everyone elses arse in Japan. However this time it's the Wii which is the clear dominator, and as such the developers over in Japan are obviously going to respond to this. I think the best example is Dragon Quest IX moving exclusively to the DS, it just shows they're going to put their games where the money is, which is now the DS and Wii. Couple that with the fact developing for the PS3 is in excess of 4 times more expensive then the PS2, and about 3 times as long, it's obvious most RPG's don't have the mass appeal to make a profit under those circumstances. Obviously Final Fantasy is a big enough franchise to cover the costs from it's sales, but I think the only other RPG franchise with big enough sales to do that is Dragon Quest, and that's on DS for now. -

Neither can I, but at the moment the 360 does have the best RPG line up. Look up games like Mass Effect, Lost Oddysey, The Last Remnent, Eternal Sonata, they're all pretty awesome RPG's. More then PS3 or Wii currently have lined up (FFXIII are still only 2 games which won't be here until 2009 earliest). Even if the 360 RPG's sucked, the fact PS3 and Wii currently have 0 exclusive RPG's combined tells a bigger story. That's why in the long term the 360 will be the worst for RPG's, but we're talking 2009 now. The 360 does currently have the RPG market and will do so for the short-term, obviously Wii is going to dominate it eventually but I'm talking purely at the moment. You don't want to play Lost Oddesey? Last Remnent? Mass Effect? Alright then, you're loss :/. Oh, and I think Wii is going to have the best RPG line up in the end, far crushing the PS3's. Ps3 will have Final Fantasy XIII, but chances are the Wii will have Dragon Quest, Tales Of and plenty more new RPG's we don't know about yet . There's no real reason why someone would want to develope an RPG for the Ps3 or Xbox 360 anymore. -

Do you seriously think 360 doesn't currently lead with RPG's (minus PS2 and DS :/.) Just looking at the line up shows in the near future that the 360 is going to kick arse on the RPG front. Of course, it's all short term cause it's lack of presense in JApan will ultimately hurt it on the RPG front, but for the moment, it's clearly leaps and bounds ahead of the PS3 and Wii for RPG's. I swear the Wii has like, 3 RPG's which will definitely come out in the Europe so far, just Fire Emblem, Dragon Quest Swords and FFCC:TCB. I'm probably forgetting a few though, but still there isn't alot announced for the Wii....yet. -
It's fine for you to have your opinion, but if you're going to be making statements like that expect a response. Perhaps you just need to play some different games or something, some games control lay-outs are horrific on the WIi, but they're the ones which were ported from the PS2 and were never designed around the Wii Remote anyway.

jammy2211 replied to Zechs Merquise's topic in Nintendo Gaming
Yeah, that's fair enough, I don't think anyone is going to deny the Wii has been pretty weak so far in the software stakes. I guess it just bothers some people more then it does others. I don't recall any console ever living up to expectations in it's first year - except the Dreamcast - but I seem to have a longer memory then alot of people. People wouldn't be so laid back about it, but I guess the Christmas line up speaks volumes for what we perceive as the Wii's future, hence why most of us are just prepared to wait it out . -
Also - hilarious jokes aside - have you ever though the button layout is intention? I think the point is the D-pad and 1 / 2 buttons are supposed to be harder to reach, seeing as they're pretty much there for if you play it NES style. (er, horizontally) It's hardly the controllers fault if stupid developers map key inputs to the up on the d-pad or something. I think you need to establish the difference between what could be a design flaw and what was intentionally done on Nintendo's part.

You might think the Wiimote is dangerous but just think how dangerous the PS3 could be if you dropped it on someone.

No one believes anything that specific, we just believe we'll get more games, of which some will have the desired level of quality. At least their my thoughts. I've watched it happen with the SNES, PS1, PS2, GBA and DS, so I don't see a reason why it's not going to happen on the Wii. (if it hasn't already started too) -

It's too soon to really judge the Wii's userbase and software sales etc. It was the same with the DS for a good 2 years since it's launch, but then the publishers learnt how to attract the userbase, how to reach them, and they've never looked back. I'm not even sure what you're trying to say, but it just seems pretty niave to me. I guess I just can't see the industry proclaiming disaster when the Wii manages to expand the industry's size far beyond what we've ever known, and doing it without needing stupidly large developement budgets and 2.5 year developement cycles :/. -
Google images? Tv adverts? yeah, these are certainly going to convince me, the Wii owner who has played a range of games with absolutely no problem from the Wii Remote whatsoever. I find it extremely comfortable, and have no problem with fatigue or anything. Before you go praising the Dualshock3 or whatever it's called, why don't you try playing Lair with it's SIXAXIS controls and find out what bad motion controls really are? :P You must be the first person I've come accross who thinks the Wii Remote is harder to use then a normal controller or something. Sounds like you start gaming during the PS2 days anyway, which means you've not really felt how controllers have evolved over time.

Are you being serious? If it wasn't for the Wii, DS and PS2 alot of developers and publishers would be going under right now. Not to mention the fact that it'd be near impossible for any new team of developers to ever hope to establish themselves. The 360 and PS3 are only furthering this gap between the big boys (EA, Activision, Capcom etc) and the newer studio's who want to fulfil their dreams in making games and whatever. Why do you think so many studio's are 100% exclusive to Nintendo? Cause they'll never be able to afford developement on the other platforms (except PS2). It's also, in my opinion, leading to a stagnation in the innovative and progression of software, but I really can't be arsed to go into that unless someone really cares :P. -

It's got Lost Odyssey coming too, which looks pretty epic. I think it's obvious in the long term Wii is going to kick arse for RPG's, but that day is still well into next year. When a console is dominating Japan like the Wii is, the RPG's are a guarentee. I've just gotta be patient I guess, as I want RPG's now :P. Although I still have only played Pokemon on my DS, so I guess my RPG fix is staring me in the face :/. -
Cause it's new. After playing a PS1 and PS2 for about 11 years with all the games being similiar and not alot of progression, I guess I just got bored sooner or later. Sure, the games could still rule and there were some refreshing and new games, but for the most part it just felt like I had played everything before. And this come this generation, 360 and PS3 still feel the exact same. The best games on their line ups are sequels, they're pushing for uber realism in graphics when I want a more artistic approach and it all just feels a bit bland to me. Of course there are games which are exceptions, which could end up with me getting a PS3, but not at it's current price. Wii games just feel new and different, well not all of them, but the ones I'm looking forward to do, which is enough for me. The console's line up for the first year has been a bit medicre, but I don't think I've ever owned a console from launch which hasn't been hit with delays and droughts. For me, it makes it better in the long term, I guess it just helps me appreciate it alot more.

Also, just to clear up the sales chart of Japan, Wii sales are so low because it's just a trend. During this period every year in Japan hardware sales fall considerably, and will start to go back up for the Christmas rush. Wii sales over this period are down 63%, but PS3 are down 64%, DS about 40%ish etc. PSP is just very high cause it had a price cut, a new model launched, and the release of Final Fantasy VII, Crisis Core. -

I think the main reason people think it's good is because we'll get more third party support. It's too soon for us to have seen the results of it yet, but I'm not totally convinced we'd be seeing games like Guitar Hero III, Monster Hunter 3, Manhunt 2, King Story etc if the Wii had flopped. I still don't think we've seen the best of it yet either. As for why the Wii sells? I think it's just got a huge appeal to alot of markets. Lots of casual's and non gamers buy it cause they want Wii Sports and WarioWare, while lots of the more dedicated gamers buy it cause they want to play Zelda or Super Paper Mario. Saying that, I'm sure alot more of them are just buying it in advance so they can play Metroid / SMG / SSBB without having to worry about stock issues. Also I think Resident Evil 4 has helped alot. It's nearing the 1 million mark worldwide, and I think alot of people just completely missed that game last generation. I had 3 friends think that RE4 was a Wii-exclusive game, heh. Anywho, it feels much still feels like the calm before the storm for the Wii. Still no price drop, no major exclusive games and only one colour only leave you feeling sales are being held back. I really don't see anything stopping Wii now :/. -
It's already up, they gave it a pretty solid 8.5. 1UP Review here: http://www.1up.com/do/reviewPage?cId=3163925&sec=REVIEWS - 9.0 It's getting very solid reviews, shaping up really nicely .

Didnt Red Steel get 39/40? Famitsu are always a bit.... meh with reviews. Still, can't complain at that, it's a positive start.
