I always manage to forget just how excellent Book Two is.

Yep. Been doing the same, a rewatch of the animated show and just finished Book Two. So much story told but it never feels overwhelmed. It moves along at a great pace and sets up Book 3 perfectly.
Im a few episodes into Book 3 now. Usually watching two or three at a time.

  2. So I got this on the iPad as it was free when everyone was raving about it but just couldn’t get into it and would die within a few minutes. Decided to give it a go on Switch cause of the free trial, thought maybe using an actual controller may help. Well it certainly does, managed to last a lot longer and even break 10 minutes within a few tries. But damn, I have no idea what I’m doing when it comes to powering up things and what to pick. Best I’ve found so far is to get the garlic power up item. Other than that I just end up running around avoiding things and just picking a new weapon.
May decide to buy it one day.

Oh man, Captain Falcon on Great Smash Ball: :D

"Falcon Falcon Falcon Falcon Falcon Falcon Falcon Falcon Kick!!"

Hehe. Me too. Was a complete fluke the first time it happened but then I just had to keep doing it.
It was noted on the puff-puff Jessica stage that apart from when you respawn it seemed only Piranha Plant could get up there to the hair platform on his own during normal play. Good camping ground, so maybe some platform or some other way to get up there.

I had no idea what was going off, I thought we just had to race round collecting coins. It was only near the end of the first battle when someone drove into me nicking my coins did it click.

I left after the first bomb battle, wasn't for me so I went back to watching football.

So what I learned about coin runners is that there is a finite number of coins that will appear. After that the only way to get them is to steal off others.

Bautista is a weird one, because he's obviously a great actor, and wants to branch out into more serious roles, but I feel like the fact that he's built like a fucking rhinoceros is holding him back in getting those roles. He just isn't believable playing an accountant or a HR manager or anything.

Have you seen him in Knock at the Cabin? That seems to a very different role for him and he seemed to pull it off. But yeah, we won’t be seeing him as the kid who gets bullied in a coming of age film. Though (and I’m not saying the should make it) but I could so see him playing Mr Incredible in a non animated version.

Lots more sets for @BowserBasher to buy.

Definitely getting the train set and Boos Haunt looks like a nice set. I’ve not been buying as many as I had when they first came out. I’m preferring the ones that can be displayed more as a single piece like Bowser Airship from the original lot. So am certainly picking my sets now. Really am interested in what they do with the Mario Kart sets though.

  7. Don’t we have enough stages with small cage like spots, there’s death square with fire, small place in the middle where no one can escape and everyone gets to 999%, and probably loads more. Nothing beats barrels of doom though, or float in the air stage, or one tiny platform with a ladder stage,  😂

After watching it I was thinking just how much better and diverse both Cena and Batista are than The Rock when it comes to acting.

Agreed. I think The Rock could have been better had he not ended up sticking to the same role and basically playing the same character in everything. He can do comedy as shown in his WWE days and promos. The guy is one of the best on the mic and can make the fans cheer or boo at the drop of a hat, even within a 5 minute period he could have them chanting his name then booing and chanting “Rocky Sucks”.
It always gets mentioned that he has that clause that his character can’t die in any film too. Shame as he’s great as Maui in Moana and shows his fun side. And his early stuff had him doing more comedic stuff too.

Are you with Virgin Media by any chance? Mine seemed to be acting up as well.

Yep I am. I ended up going and restarting the router. It seemed to do the trick as after that we had another disconnect where you left but I stayed in.

Anyway, @BowserBasher how the hell did you manage to avoid getting launched (as Yoshi) at the start on Freakyforms stage!? :o

Jumping and going to the side. Other than that I have no idea. Maybe something is letting us through if we are not on the platform that rises. It seems that maybe the deciding factor. Not sure if @Glen-i remembers what he was doing the first time he survived it.

oh and Hero Menu fights are both awesome and hilarious.

  10. Some insanely great racing there tonight.

Sorry @lostmario, there was no need for me to use that there.

The amazing this was that this then happened again on lap 2 and lap 3 exactly the same way. It actually helped me win the race by getting the shortcut on lap three to take the win and the GP.

  11. I’m glad they seen sense to say it’s for both season two and three, the two icons used pretty much confirm they are using the original seasons too. Season two being Book Two Earth and 3 being Fire. So hopefully we get it all wrapped up.

Agreed that Toph will be the casting that will either make or break it. She’s a very strong character later on (as well as the start) but she’s also a kid and has some very funny and humorous interactions with the gang and others. They need to nail her character down. And don’t skimp on Twinkle Toes.

Will be interesting to see who they cast as The Boulder too, the original was Mick Foley doing The Rock (I’m sure I’ve read that they originally wanted the Rock) I don’t know if they would be able to get him but it would be awesome if they could.

the numbers it's pulled in have been pretty crazy; per Gizmodo, it had a debut of 21.2 million views (the One Piece adaptation had something like 18 million?) and got to the Top 10 in 92 countries, which is bonkers.

Well that sounds like good news then. I think the best thing they could do knowing that it’s been a success is to just go ahead and film the rest all in one go so the actors don’t get too old before it’s too late. Let’s hope we hear something soon.

  13. Just finished. I enjoyed it for what it was, it’s certainly much better than the film that shall not be named. However it still has its flaws. I guess we really don’t know if it’s supposed to be just a first season or actually supposed to be Book 1 like the animated show, if it was they could have done more.

    Spoiler

The main gripe, if this was supposed to be Book 1, is that Aang just doesn't learn any water bending at all from Katara, I remember in the animated show he and her would at the least do that water pulling and pushing move on bodies of water just as an exercise, but nothing. We did't even get him attempt any bit or a hint that he was to learn some from any water bending master nor Katara herself. Big letdown there.

They have obviously planned to make the rest as shown in the scene just before the credits of the last episode and showing us that Sozin's Comet will be back again soon. If they are going to do them then they best get on them soon as to keep the events in a small a time frame as they can without the actors growing up too fast. I guess not giving an actual timeframe on the Comet does leave it open a bit if they need to change it to happening over a couple years or so. At least we'll still get something. they can't leave it be as I do feel this has been enough of a success to be completed.

I think Azula has been a bit of a highlight for me outside the main story. Her appearance is earlier than before, but in the short time she was there, it did seem that her story progresses more than others. Loved the glimpse of the blue flame early on then the outright show of Lightning Bending.

Get rid of the slow mo, it's not needed, at least not to the extent that they have been using it.

Also feel that the bending moved need to reflect martial arts a bit more in the movements. Especially Fire Bending. 99% of the time they just conjure a fireball in their hand then throw it. I'm sure that only the best fire benders could create fire like that, most would use an existing source of fire and use that. That seems to be lost quite a bit. I mean the other benders don't materialise water and earth out of nowhere.

I'd certainly watch this again (as long as the rest of the story is told) otherwise I think this is just a waste to leave it without concluding it at all. Is it better than the original animated show, not for me so far. Does it stand up to being worth a watch of you've never seen the original, yes. I'd probably give it a good 7/10 if I was rating.

Now we just need it to have been enough of a success for Netflix to finish the story off. It doesn't have to be strung out, after all the animated show was three seasons. Perfectly told story in that time.
