See, this is the thing. While I don't doubt GAME has far more stock in total than Gamestation - it seems like they are having a hard time figuring out where it should all go. I've heard the GAME in my town isn't getting a huge number of machines, whereas we expect to have 160+ by next Tuesday. I just feel bad for the people buying the bundles at GAME and thinking they're getting good value.

The Uk Wii First Impression Diary Thread
Kazzahdrane replied to ultrajamie's topic in Nintendo Gaming
I could be playing my own Wii at home this time tomorrow, fingers crossed. If so, I will indeed take a picture and post it here. -
From what people are saying here it sounds like GAME have been really cheeky with their so-called "bundles". Interestingly, we're having a midnight launch but I found out today from a customer that the GAME store 100 feet away isn't. Very weird, wonder if they got a really small allocation.

My store has a pile of copies of CoD3 for the Wii sitting in the back, guess we'll be selling them from tomorrow if that's the release date. Wii game boxes are pretty!

Hey Ashley, I hear you. Working next Friday too (though this may be changed to working the midnight launch, either way is good for me) so will be making lots of people happy by selling them their Wii! Do you GAME folks have any idea when you'll be getting the machines delivered? Can't wait to take one home early and enjoy Zelda before launch.

I've been following this thread right from the start, but am now looking at new TVs to buy. I want to best possible picture quality for my Wii so intend to get a Component cable (official). What ports/sockets do I need on a TV to use the component cable for the Wii?
-
Actually, I know the exact numbers that Gamestation are getting for Zelda. Trust me when I say it's not much in the grand scheme of things. Stores like mine will simply not get as many copies of Zelda as they will Wii units (and it's a lot of Wii units). I understand your comment, but I'm not just being a loon - I actually know what I'm talking about.

YES. There will be a Zelda shortage I cannot stress this enough. There are going to be a lot of disappointed people on December 8th - people who have a Wii console but can't find a copy of Twilight Princess to play on it. I know not everyone wants the game but a lot of people do. I also don't know if this is just Gamestation, but I'd imagine that since we seem to be getting on well with Nintendo this will be a UK-wide thing across all retailers. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PRE-ORDER ZELDA IF YOU WANT IT, WHERE EVER YOU ARE GETTING YOUR WII FROM. Not trying to drum up business for my company, just want to make sure people here are happy come 8/12/06.

Apologies if this has already been posted, I've been avoiding the forums lately for fear of Zelda spoilers. However, Gamestation are now advertising "Wii Guarantee for Christmas". That's right, a guaranteed Wii in time for Xmas. I'm not sure if this is just my store (Dundee) but I've been told it's company-wide. Apparently we could double our pre-orders (150+) and still get them for Xmas. My guess is that Gamestation have vastly increased their allocation from Nintendo, just thought I'd let people know in case they were finding they were too late everywhere else.

Nintendo to Spend $200 Million on Wii Marketing to Battle Sony
Kazzahdrane replied to Tony_Montana's topic in Nintendo Gaming
Nintendo's attitude of marketing the thing when it's very nearly released is a Good Idea. Having people ask if NFS Carbon is out yet a month before release is a pain, just because EA decide to start the advertising so early. -
Yeah i remember reading ages ago that there would be steps in place to get your stuff back after a faulty Wii. However, if the stuff's linked to your Wii then people could get 2nd hand ones with a bunch of VC stuff on it, that'd be quite cool. Dunno how places that trade in consoles would deal with it though - one flat price for your Wii even if you have the entire VC catalogue on internal memory (well, filled up the internal memory anyway)?
-
I heard to lock on you have to clench your arse cheeks.
-
My mistake then, apologies I actually was following it so that makes me a lazy reader! And yeah, if you or one of your friends should not get a Wii from the GS and you find out they did it on a first-come first-served basis get in touch with customer services and complain. I agree with you though it's unlikely, they probably just want people to come to the midnight launch and spend lots of money.
-
As I've said numerous times in this thread, going to the midnight launch does not mean you will get a Wii, even if you have pre-ordered one. If you were person 101 to pre-order a Wii and the store gets 100 units at launch you won't get one, even if you queue up outside the store for days beforehand. Of course, chances are at least one of those 100 people before you would cancel their pre-order before December 8th for one reason or another, just an example. Gamestation stores will hold a pre-ordered console for 72 hours after launch, so if it sells out the best time to try to pick one up would be on the morning of the 11th, in case anyone hasn't picked their pre-ordered console up yet.

Hmmmmm.....this would suggest that your Wii Shop Channel purchases (VC games etc) are linked to your Wii, not some online Wii account. What does this mean if your Wii breaks down or is stolen? If you buy another Wii will you need to buy all your VC games again? Logic would dictate no.... Could be good for 2nd hand buyers, buy a Wii and get a whole load of VC games already on it. However, if you can't re-download your VC games on another Wii console then that is totally ridiculous.
-
Not at Gamestation, it's done by the order people pre-ordered in. Otherwise, as people have said, what's the point in pre-ordering? Another point. Anyone here with a Gamestation Wii pre-order who wants Zelda at launch really needs to make sure they've got the game pre-ordered too. The company aren't getting enough copies for everyone who gets a Wii at launch to get one, let's put it like that.

Pre ordered Wii from HMV store? be AFRAID,
Kazzahdrane replied to darthbane2k's topic in Nintendo Gaming
I'm not an HMV employee but I feel I have to stand up for them here. GAME probably know a ballpark minimum figure that the whole company will be getting, and have split that number up for their stores. Alternatively, GAME really do know how many they are getting, good for them. But saying all the other retailers know is a complete falsehood as we all know here. Gamestation, for example, do not know their Wii allocation yet. This sort of thing isn't the fault of the retailers, it's Nintendo not being able to decide yet how many units they will have come December 8th. After all, if they allocate too early they might have spare units sitting in a warehouse and stores might not be able to get them in time for launch. -
Did you actually type that with a straight face? The graphics in that trailer look like Goldeneye with a lick of polish. They're chunky and low-res. Far Cry from the PC only looked like that if you turned all the options way down. This game is fugly, and doesn't look much fun from a gameplay standpoint. But then I haven't played it yet so who knows, maybe it's the Best Game Ever.

IIRC Nintendo already confirmed that you'll need a GC memory card to save and load any GC saved games.

.....rumble is awesome. Actual tactile feedback is really cool when it's used right.

Disney Studio to Develop Video Games for Nintendo Consoles

Kingdom Hearts 2 sequel on DS? Yes please. Chain of Memories wasn't my cup of tea but it sold fairly well I think. -
You'll need a GC memory card.

GAME Confirm Whos Getting A Launch Day Wii ! ! !
Kazzahdrane replied to Coolit's topic in Nintendo Gaming
Yes. For a given value of "soon" which is "when they know". My best guess is the middle of the month, so maybe a week or so from now. -
The big retailers will have bundle deals with discounts for buying a game or a couple of games etc, same as any console. Most of them just haven't decided what they'll be yet.
-
Amen to that. Gutting 360 games is a nightmare.
