.. If you allow me to say this: I think that role was way too powerful, even for a 1 time use. If you simply PM'd him all the info, it would already have been much better. It's too late now, but I just wanted to say I would have kept my vote on Dyson out of principle.

I actually have an idea what to do about that, but I'm not going to say anything . Except for that I won't be doing it for now since I'm in 2 mafia games, with probably especially jayseven's requiring my full attention . I think I'll do my experiment after my own game, I'll take a break from the mafias for a bit. Say no more, I know exactly what you mean .It doesn't matter though, I've already decided what I'm going to do regarding that. If you come up with crazy abilities, well or even if you include a lot of normal ones, balancing will probably be impossible to get exact right. My feeling is that it doesn't matter, as long as people are having fun, and it's only apparent after the end of the game if the game was unbalanced or not, and not if that's already obvious during the game. Good idea, I was already doing that except for the target. But I'll do that for the next PMs. I may even require it in my own game, if possible.

About when would this run? I assume after all the others in the cue?

I don't mind in general, but if I find myself needing a break or don't want to do more than 1 at once, I simply won't sign-up. I'd also like to know: The preferred number of mafia members for 20, 21, 22 and 23 players (as I've not finalized the final number). I've heard it should be between 25 and 33 %. I feel like I should include 1 more in mine as it is now, but balancing is I expect the hardest thing to do in such games.

No. You can be grey, but that means you're Unindentified, who shows up all over the place. All colours are accounted for. Plenty of people have targeted Unindetified, so is isn't that farfetched Zell knows you're evil.

It's would be a major coincidence to see B&W together for the second night in a row, so I really do believe they are some sort of pair. However, this seems to indicate my previous theory of bright green being a redirecter is false, as they both have their own targets. But since green is seen here simply watching, perhaps he is prevented from redirecting somehow. Cube can't tell us his info on white if it's needed. ReZ prevented Magenta from doing anything last night. It's not clear to me if Magenta is tracking Cube or stalking White (or doing somehting else). Tellyn presumably kills Cube while mistakenly being protected by Jonnas. So dan didn't get to do anything. I still wonder what exactly caused his silence. With 2 good players dead now, I'm convinced the players speculating about 2 mafia clans are right. We have 2 candidates for the lynch now, Dyson and Telly.. I honestly believe both Jonnas and Zell. I'll hop on the Dyson bandwagon, since that one's already quite under way.. Paj can really make himself useful here and kill the other candidate, Tellyn. So, with that said; Vote: Dyson

I don't exactly understand what you have in mind here, but that probably just shows that you're not thinking what I'm thinking when I mention "indirect abilities". You'll just have to trust me on that one . Like I said, I'm still specifying things, and that's why I'm now putting some of my ideas forward, so people can comment on them. Maybe I'll change my priorities order. The way I see it now however, it has both advantages and disadvantages. To give a general example: Say the mafia decides early on who to kill. Great. This will be very hard to stop. But a mafia kill probably should be very hard to stop, not? Anyway, later on the discussion shows they have a more preferrable target. Well too bad. But if you had a specific example in mind of why this may be disadvantage to the mafia, I'd love to hear it.

Well, that's not the only thing I wrote, so you're pulling it a bit out of context.. That was generally speaking. I don't want to get into the specifics of abilities I already have come up with.. But: not every targeted ability will show up. Like I said, I'll look more to the "flavour" of an ability more than the simple fact if it's targeted or not. Maybe an ability is targeted, but I imagine it as something that doesn't deal directly with its target.. It won't show up. But that's all I say for now. Furthermore, there will be indirect abilities that in the writeup will add an extra layer. Again, not going into specifics. Than there will be plenty abilities that simply don't deal with anyone, so those won't show up. An at the moment, I have several characters with more than 1 ability, so they'll have to choose which one to use. I think there will be plenty to speculate about. Well, I don't want to make it too complicated :p. I've certainly don't have a character that can influence targeting priorities. I've seen on mafiascum.net that some moderators like to use a specific order.. But I like to keep it this way. Combined with set deadlines, and the fact I plan on allowing players to post their ability anytime before the night deadline (so that includes the dayphase), this would reward players who decided on their ability for the night early on. I was typing my response to Chair's reaction, and had a response ready for you too, but Chair responded to your question in the meantime. My plans anyway: I don't see the problem. I already intended to specify for certain abilities if they can or can't be used on themselves..

Another thing I'd like to mention, writeups.. Generally I'm thinking of when you have dealing with other players, you show up. So most targeted abilities will show up, but some don't, and I have some indirect abilities that will make things confusing enough hopefully. By the way, I'm taking huge inspiration from Magic the gathering to standardize my rules and abilities, so being familiar with that may help .

About my mafia: I have around 20 roles at the moment, but some need to be fleshed out, and I'm currently writing their exact specifications. I'm also specifying my exact rules, I'll have some variations. Some ideas I have on which I'd like comments: - Personally I'd like set deadlines. I'm now thinking of: Remaining players => 66 % --> dayphase = 3 days Remaining players => 33 % && < 66 % --> dayphase = 2 days Remaining players < 33 % --> dayphase = 1 day Nightphases will always be 1 day. Deadlines will be 00:00 CET on the appropriate days. Mainly for my convenience, since that is time I'm usually online anyway, and I'd like to go over all the stuff at regular intervals. - I'm thinking of dealing with inactivity in the way I suggested in 1 of the other mafia threads.. First of all, I will require people to PM me their action, even if they can't or do not want to take any action. This also means actually posting will not be required, which may be of use to some people. If you fail to PM me, you'll be flagged as inactive. I don't intend to modkill, rather I'm thinking of giving everyone an unknown passive ability that they'll use. This ability will be slightly useful to their side, but I'm going to put either their character name or real name in the writeup, so the other side can easily decide if and how they want to deal with this person. The problem with this is, I have not yet thought of these abilities, so I have to think of +/- 20 . That said, I don't think these will have to match the flavour, they're punishment afterall, you should avoid these altogether . Hmm, I'm still not sure, I've been going over your manual, but it looks like Samsung just has general manuals for the complete model series, and not individual models, so I don't know if this applies to you.. You'll still have to take a look at the rear of your TV. Look at the connections at the back, on the top left corner it should have a "digital audio out (optical)". If so, your speakers will need a digital audio in (optical). I see no other audio outs (well, except for stereo only), so I think this is your only option..

I don't think you'll get any surround, unless your speakers or your TV itself will convert stereo into some sort of fake surround.. That's not the option I'd take. Your TV should have 3 audio outputs, 1 for the fronts, 1 for the rears, and 1 for the center & sub, otherwise, 6 outputs for seperate channels for RCA cables. Likewise, your speakers should have 3 inputs (or 6, but in the case of budget PC speakers 3 is more likely). Both your TV and speakers may have different options as well. Maybe you could post the model numbers of the TV you have and the speakers you have in mind?

You'll just have to look at the connections you can make.. But you can generally assume you can hook up your "PC speakers" to your TV some way or the other. I've looked into it myself some time ago, but I have no actual hands-on experience, so I'm not sure of the following anymore, but: I think your problem may be if you want to be able to use digital surround (dolby digital, dts), in which case you need to connect your speakers to your TV using a digital connection (you'll have to look for digital optical or coaxial cable). I've taken another look at the Logitech site, but they're shit when it comes to offering the actual specs of their products. If you can't connect digitally, you'll need a receiver/decoder, but that will be way out of your budget . I think you'll have to be content with analog surround (max 6 channels), and than the budget PC speakers should be fine.

I don't know anymore about it than you do (now), I've only seen the teasers, and they mention an October release in Norway. All I know is that for now at least, it won't be coming out in The Netherlands the next 2 months, but that sounds perfectly logical. For me personally, I think I may have a chance to see this at the end of January, at the International Film Festival Rotterdam, here in, well, Rotterdam, as this seems like the perfect candidate for a festival. If not there, I'm pretty sure it'll end up at the Imagine film festival in Amsterdam, which is more focussed on genre films, sci-fi, fantasy and horror mainly, so this would be a perfect fit. But that festival is in April. Of course, there's perhaps the option of a Norwegian DVD / Blu-ray release with English subtitles, I don't know if that's a common feature for Norwegian releases, I don't own one yet . Spanish and Chinese releases for example often include them (yay for me), but French releases usually don't (boo). Someone from Norway who could tell me? :p
