I'm waiting on @DuD to send me an invite. I don't want him to forget because it should be a close match. -
I'm in the train, eta half 1. I'll head to Hyde Park, so post on here if you're relocating to the pub.

Xpert 11 Season 27: We few, we happy few, we band of brothers

Happy with a +11 change report. Falcao double jumped! Annoyed that I can no longer sell my temporary striker since he's now decided to retire. He'll be warming the bench for the entirety of next season. Also, I now have my first legend in Deano Irvine. I have 3 other players not far behind: Lilywhite is on 99 matches, Beasley on 98 and Smallwood on 97. These four players were part of the original Yellow Submarine when the club was first formed 6 seasons ago. They dreamed a dream. Now is probably the time to bring in some fresh blood. I need a youth keeper since my reserve keeper retired and I'll need to start developing a new youth striker for when Beasley retires. My midfield is immense at the moment and Lilywhite hasn't decided to retire just yet. Defence is the weak link, but it's a work in progress and will start taking shape in a couple of seasons. -

Fucking yes! I still can't believe I won! I had honestly given up hope after losing to Inter. Commiserations to Tales and a massive thank you a Ell for somehow beating Eights away from home. I thought the day would never come. Yellow Submarine - Champions! -

I knew I would lose to Tales, but I gave it a go. I basically have to win all my games now or hope that someone does me a favour. -
D'oh. That's what happens when you don't read the thread. You forget things. Sorry Peeps. Change Vote: Diageo I was probably going to reveal sooner or later as I've been sitting on some information. I check people's documentation and verify their alignment. So far I've investigated the following people: Night 1: Me - Evil Night 2: Flink - Evil Night 3: Diageo - No documentation, an intruder! Night 4: Was going to target Jimbob, got redirected and then roleblocked by Diageo I think Night 5: Forgot my PM (sorry!) but got enhanced by someone Night 6: Sprout - Evil, also found out his role Night 7: Peeps - Intruder! My gut feeling (having forgotten Peeps' posts) was that he was mafia because he was an intruder. I still have a very strong feeling that Diageo is in the mafia, although I think he claimed protector? Sorry I can't remember. I will reread the thread to catch up at some point.

The Peeps is an intruder. Vote for him. Vote: The Peeps

I'm so happy for Andy Murray. Thoroughly deserved.

Cinematic Presentation VS Focus on Gameplay
Zell replied to Serebii's topic in General Gaming Discussion
Like I said, there's nothing wrong with creating a cinematic experience if that's what they're going for. I do realise there's a lot of crap on the market (especially the FPS space) that tries to disguise it's unoriginal, linear, repetitive gameplay by having lots of cinematic cutscenes, to which I say get lost. We can vote with our wallets and not buy those games. I'm going to assume that you haven't played Tomb Raider, otherwise you wouldn't be describing it as a games that plays itself. It's one of the best games of the year. Cube's comparison to Metroid Prime is a good one, but I personally would liken Tomb Raider more to Resident Evil 4. -
Cinematic Presentation VS Focus on Gameplay
Zell replied to Serebii's topic in General Gaming Discussion
Serebii, you seem to be mixing two arguments? You start talking about presentation and then move on to narrative. I think this "graphics vs gameplay" debate is rather old hat and quite frankly obsolete because good graphics and good gameplay aren't mutually exclusive. It's a myth that developers have to choose one or the other when making a game. Nintendo back in the Gamecube era produced some of the best graphics of the time, yet it's hard to argue that they sacrificed the gameplay (another question, how do you define "gameplay"?). Most of the best games this generation had stunning graphics and this has been true since the NES days. Now in regards to "narrative/story vs gameplay", there are games where the main focus is on the story and that's okay. For instance, I'm a big fan of the Zero Escape games, the Phoenix Wright series and the PS1 era Final Fantasy games, where the main driver for me playing the game was to progress through the story. I don't think it's a case of choosing sides, I enjoy both kinds of experiences. 999 had almost no gameplay in it, but it is probably my favourite DS game. But again, a good story and good gameplay aren't mutually exclusive. A lot of it how you choose to go about telling it, but I can think of many examples of games with cinematic presentation with a focus on narrative that also have excellent gameplay. A recent example is Tomb Raider. Stunning graphics, story told through cinematic cutscenes and OTT set pieces with QTEs, but the gameplay isn't sidelined at all, in fact it's the primary focus in my eyes. An example on Nintendo consoles is Resident Evil 4. Very cinematic approach, but I don't think anyone here could tell me with a straight face that the gameplay was middling. My point is that it's not a case of one or the other. You can have both. -
Five so far. Two more planned.

No, they've still got 2 and a half book's worth of material left (second half of A Storm of Swords, A Feast for Crows and A Dance of Dragons). So they won't run out of stuff until 2016/17 assuming that they release one season per year. My thoughts on the coming seasons are:
-
I'm not expecting The Winds of Winter to arrive until 2016 to avoid disappointment. There's a major concern that the TV show will catch up to the books.
-
Late to the party, but I recently purchased this bundle of joy a couple of day ago. Really enjoying it so far, except some new villager had the gall to park their house right in front of mine. Do they not know that I'm the bloody mayor and soon will have dictatorial powers?

Xpert 11 Season 27: We few, we happy few, we band of brothers
Zell replied to Haden's topic in General Chit Chat
Next match is the big one. Away to Eights. If I can avoid defeat, I still have a shot at the title. Lose, and I will pretty much have to win all of my remaining games, which I don't expect to do.
