After hearing positive things about it I was expecting a really funny Shaun of the Dead type film but I was very disappointed. Okay, it wasn't terrible, there was the odd funny part and because I was with my mates we had a laugh and enjoyed it but my god was it weird. Felt empty too, misssing a lot, was just full of repetitive zombie scenes at the end as if they ran out of ideas.

Gamespot have reportedly received a postcard that hints towards a Kojima project being announced on Nintendo Wii at E3 2006.

The postcard, which you can see here, is imprinted with the Kojima Studios logo and features several words beginning with 'RE', with the 'RE's highlighted like so: "RETURN," "REARM," "REGALE," "REBIRTH," "RESPECT" and "REFINE". The back of the postcard states that "the Revolt begins May 9th"; the same day as Nintendo's press conference.

Konami is refusing to comment on the postcard at the time of speaking. Kojima announced he had a title coming to Nintendo's next generation console late last year, wanting to create a title vastly different from Metal Gear Solid. There was also a hint that he wanted to target female gamers, but this postcard seems that it could hint otherwise on both of these points.

It is being refuted as nothing to do with Nintendo by many at the moment due to the seeming references to the Revolution moniker of old, but this is explained by the fact that the card was sent out a day before the 'Wii' name was announced.

According to Trigames.net, Nintendo of America's Executive Vice President of Marketing and Sales Reggie Fils-Aime's made an appearance today at the Nintendo World Store in New York City where he revealed that the company is planning a racing title for E3.

"I'm going to give one little secret," Fils-Aime said. "Only one little secret, and hopefully I won't lose my job. We're going to show a racing game at E3 where you use the core controller in a very different way. That will answer all the questions to how you'll play a racing game."

Fils-Aime departed immediately afterward, without providing further specifics about the new title, according to Trigames.net.

This racing game is the first Nintendo title confirmed to be at E3 by a company executive, although other first-party titles such as Metroid Prime 3 and a new Super Smash Bros. are expected to be playable at the show.

  4. Okay rumours are flying the Halo 3 has been confirmed to make an appearence at E3, with a trailer and announcement.

And heres what appears to be a Gamestop (US retailer) release list (for US)

    date.jpg

Well if all those are true or at least roughly, I'm suprised how soon Prey is out! Good to see Lost Odysee there. But... where the hell is 99 Nights?!

And i thought the new Brothers in Arms was confirmed for 2007...this list smells fishy.

  5. Okay there was an image(not working anymore) from Nibris' official site [http://www.nibris.net/] that revealed the release date of the promising looking horror game, 2007.

I have compiled together lots of information and art etc. for the game so keep anything about the game in here!

There's a rumour that they will release screens in the next few days, so keep your eye out and hope for the best :awesome: If they are shown please post them in here.

"...In my head there is a voice, different from the others. Whenever it answers it overwhelms the remaining voices, it mixes up thoughts and destroys peace. It tells me that I'm only mixed up in a thought which yearns to prove its own existence. It is the original voice, which wants to free itself from my head, to free itself from the logic and reason it is being stifled by. It is the voice of chaos which is now screaming frightfully in my head for me to take an axe resting against the wall and cut off my father's head..."

From the upstart Cracow, Poland development team of NIBRIS, Sadness is a gothic horror adventure game with survival horror elements. The game plans to make players confront their fears with only what they can grab up out of their environment to protect them.

Maverick Polish developer Nibris today offered additional details on Sadness, one of the company's projects for Nintendo's new console. While the studio is still withholding full details, we now know that Sadness will play out in a stylized gothic horror setting -- completely in black and white.

Such a gutsy choice is just the beginning for Nibris. Rather than focus on fast action and a high body count, Sadness will focus on mood -- one "which will not leave you till the very end of the game" -- and themes such as schizophrenia and narcolepsy. While Nibris mentions super-stylish film Sin City as one comparison, the company says Sadness will take place "pre-World War."

Nibris hopes to take full advantage of the Revolution controller. "Imagine driving away rats with a torch, throwing a rope (as a lasso) when you want to climb over the wall, or slitting the throat of a persecutor with a piece of glass... All of this with the help of the Revolution controller."

The company also illuminated its decision to develop for the Revolution, rather than other next-generation consoles.

"Nibris decided to follow Nintendo's path, which fights the stagnation which has occurred in video games, and creates new trends," commented Nibris' Lukasz Oskard. "With this move, we want to create a unique environment, which is only available in Sadness."

Nibris is currently seeking a publisher for the game.

Previously reported to be a working title, Sadness is now the final title for the gothic horror game heading to Nintendo's next generation console. The game will take place before World War 1 (that is, before 1914), and the art style is a nod towards this era of cinema, not a similarity to Sin City. The atmosphere of the cinema of the times is hoped to be captured by the game. Sadness will be set in an as yet unnamed Slavic country.

Rumours have been abound that a colour version of the game will be able to be selected, since the aim of Sadness is for it to be created as a fully black and white title. The greyscale choice, however, is essential for retaining the atmosphere of the game.

A Hollywood film studio has also been in touch with Nibris about a movie version of Sadness, but no deals have been signed and no agreements made. While Nibris cannot disclose what has been discussed, they can confirm that "[a Sadness movie] will not be filmed earlier than 2 years after it [the game Sadness] is introduced to the market" if one were to be created.

  6. I'm sorry to spoil the fun but I am going to lock this thread.

Basically because we know nothing about the game yet other than that it is in development, and if it is shown/announced/revealed at this E3 or any other time there will without doubt be a thread quickly made like "Zelda: Reflection of a Hero REVEALED!!11!!" and all they hype will be in there.

Twilight Princess isn't even out yet, and we're discussing the next one? I don't really think that's necessary, TP is kinda like a Zelda for the Revol...sorry Wii too as it will use the controller in some ways.

So for now lets just wait patiently, enjoy Twilight Princess and then once news of a new Zelda is revealed we can start making threads about it

    [locked]

  7. The virgin example is very good, I mean when people say they are "going to Virgin Megastore" or "Subscribing his Virgin phone contract" they don't really think about it sexually, they just say it. I just think its a weird relation, I mean:

    River -> Online Retailer [Amazon]

Happy slang word -> Search Engine [Yahoo!]

An anagram of the word 'fuck' -> Clothes designer [FCUK]

    ...

Toilet referrence -> Video games console [Wii] ! :woops:

In an interview with CNN Money, Nintendo of America's Vice President of Marketing and Corporate Affairs Perrin Kaplan provided insight into the company's decision to name its next-generation console the Nintendo Wii.

"The other systems have an extension of their current names; ours is a new leap to something different," Kaplan said. "A lot of thought went into the name."

The announcement of the name change has brought mixed reactions across various Internet gaming forums and publications. Kaplan responded, "I think people have to look back and let it settle in. I'm sure people felt the same way when Google was named – or the iPod. Napster. Yahoo. There's a whole host of unusual names that have become a part of everyday conversation and I think they're viewed now as unique."

As for why Nintendo chose to reveal the official name now and not at its pre-E3 press conference on May 9, the company didn't want people to be distracted from the announcement of software titles and other information disclosed about the console.

"We want people to understand our approach before we get to E3," Kaplan said. "[Also], it's really noisy at E3 and I don't think we would have had the chance to explain how we came to the name."

    I guess I agree...(with the bolded statement)

April 27, 2006 - The latest issue of Famitsu is the last one before E3 kicks off on the 10th (Famitsu is taking next week off for Golden Week). As it does every year, Famitsu has provided a look forward at the show, with a couple of surveys and a few revealing news bits on what we can expect in a couple of weeks.

Famitsu polled gamers and software makers about their interest at E3. Both parties were most interested in Nintendo's new hardware. 47.4% of software makers and 45.3% of gamers expressed interest in Revolution. This topped PlayStation 3, which got 36.8% of the developer vote and 44.8% of the gamer vote. The remaining 15.8% of developers didn't respond to the question. For users, 4.4% selected Xbox 360 with 5.5% selecting "other hardware." The magazine did not reveal the number of participants in the survey.Developers were also asked to reveal how many secret titles they have planned to unveil at the show. Of the 19 companies polled, 12 revealed that they have undisclosed titles to show, with two listing no secrets for the show and 5 giving no response. Of those with secret titles to show, 5 companies stated that at least one of the secret titles is for Revolution. PS3 and PSP were each listed by 2 companies, with GameCube, PS2 and DS getting one company each. Five companies had secret titles whose hardware they would not confirm with the magazine.

The magazine also provided a list of games set to go on display at the show from some of Japan's biggest publishers. Keep in mind that this list is not complete and only reflects the information the various companies were willing to give Famitsu at the time of its publish.

Of the companies listed in Famitsu, Bandai Namco games had the most titles, with PS2 getting the brunt of the playable offerings. For Xbox 360, Culdecept Saga will appear in video-only, with Gundam seeing its playable debut. PS3 will have Gundam, Tekken 6 and Ridge Racer 7 all shown in video form.

Ubisoft's list of titles includes some big next generation offerings. PS3 will see Assassin and Game V. Xbox 360 will see BIA Hell's Highway, Rainbow Six Vegas and Splinter Cell Double Agent. PS2 and Xbox 360 will see Open Season. Dark Messiah and Red Steel are listed as hardware TBA. Playable/video status of the Ubisoft titles is not listed in the magazine.

Tecmo has revealed to Famitsu just three titles set for the show. Korobot Adventure will appear for the PS2, with Xbox 360 getting Dead or Alive Xtreme 2 and Revolution getting Pangya Revolution. All three titles will be shown in video form.

The magazine lists two Xbox 360 offerings from THQ. Moto GP will appear in playable form, with Saints Row being shown via video.

Koei's next generation efforts are all going the video route. Fatal Inertia and Blade Storm will be shown for the PS2, with Samurai Warriors 2 getting its Xbox 360 debut. The magazine lists Samurai Warriors 2 as playable, but we wouldn't be surprised if this is for the PS2 version.

Capcom has a large lineup of playable titles. Okami, God Hand and Street Fighter Zero Fighters Generation will be available for the PS2. Xbox 360 will have Lost Planet and Dead Rising in playable states. The magazine doesn't list any Capcom PS3 titles.

Square Enix's lineup is current generation only. The company will display Dirge of Cerberus Final Fantasy VII, Final Fantasy XII and Valkyrie Profile 2 Silmeria in playable form for the PS2. Seiken Densetsu 4 for the PS2 will be shown in video form.

IGN expects to see quite a bit more than what was listed in the Famitsu article, so be sure and check back prior to the 10th as E3 2006 kicks off.
