Worth a look in Gamestation if you have one with a decent Gamecube stock near you - Today I picked up MP1, MP2, Wave Race and Second Sight for £20 (Both Resi's, Metal Arms, Splinter Cell Series, Tony Hawks Series and Eternal Darkness are all on the same 4 for £20 too)

You're right! Anyone with the IGN video go to that point and take a look, their are what appear to be two Gamecubes in the corner both of which are switched on. The plot thickens

You have to remember that a lot of extra power is required because the graphics have to be rendered in High Definition and there's also a lot of processing power that is seperate to the graphics. Its perfectly feasible that Wii could render games with the appearance of Standard Definition 360 games, simply with a lot less happening on screen (less enemies and such).

The Wii games shown at E3 were all running on Cube hardware - Apparently final Wii devkits were only received by developers several weeks before the show and to transfer the code over and enhance it graphically wouldn't have been possible in such a short space of time. People might comment on the fact that the games looked slightly better than Cube stuff on average but you have to remember that no developer actually pushed the Cube to its full extent and the graphics shown were capable on the Cube. (Including Smash Bro) - The final hardware should be able to have graphics on par with many current 360 titles, the main difference is likely to be in the amount on screen at once (No Dead Rising for us) and the lack of High Definition. I think its unlikely though that any launch titles will look considerably nicer than they do already though.

Wii Sports, Animal Crossing Wii and Connect24 Details
Jay replied to skarmachild's topic in Nintendo Gaming
There will be proper games for each genre - This is just a test, a way of appealing to everyone especially the kids and adults for whom a game where you control with a stick and use the fhc as a tennis racket would be too comple. Bringing out a load of short, simple games at a budget price means its something everyone and can enjoy and for those who want a deep experience we're sure to see full, big games at some point (Even if they are just using existing franchises) -
Gun Survivor was bad because it lacked any depth and was just a simple, not particularly well made lightgun game. A first person shooter, using the Wii controller with the depth and development time of Resi 4 (Which I think is what they're suggest in that article) would be incredible, the game could be even more atmospheric in the first person.

Wii Sports, Animal Crossing Wii and Connect24 Details
Jay replied to skarmachild's topic in Nintendo Gaming
I think its quite possible Wii Sports will have simple versions of all these games (Motorbikes, Jet Ski's, Tennis, Golf, Baseball, Airplane etc.) with maybe one or two levels and the simple controls and then they'll be expanded into full deeper controls using Nintendo's existing franchises and be full games -
Nah, I'd actually go as far as to say I love the name now. Its ace

£15 for Twin Snakes? Good Price - Cheapest I've seen it is £22. I wasn't overly taken with it when I first played it, much preferred the original but after giving other games a second chance that I didn't enjoy first time, I've got into them all so I will pick it up at some point.

Thing is, most people won't even hear about this who aren't interested in games (and consequently didn't already know) so although its a great thing it makes no odds. If Wii takes off and gaming spreads to Non-Gamers and becomes a genuine past-time for everyone then y'never know but E3 could actually become as publicised as crap like the Oscars.

I'm guessing they will probably have wired controllers for the demo pods that plug into the USB's, the console will be locked away and the controller attached to it that way. I'd assume so anyway. I know it'll be hard to resist but I'm just going to resist temptation to go into any shops other than to pre-order my Wii. I just want it to be totally fresh, I intend to avoid any footage of games from E3 onwards as well. I remember with Wind Waker I was looking forward to it so much I spoilt about two dungeons and the opening bit on the island just from watching videos

When does everybody here first hope to actually play Wii? Are you all going to go dashing straight to the system when you first see it in a local shop or are you going to wait till the day you buy the system and experience it for the first time? I ask this because with the last two Nintendo systems I have bought (DS and Cube) I got a chance to play them before launch. I spent ages looking forward to the Cube and I went into Toys'R'Us after seeing a sign outside saying that the Cube was playable inside, I ran in and played Wave Race, Luigi's Mansion and Rogue Leader. In that time I got used to the controller and played the beginning sections of all these games. It was great and hyped me up even more for the system but come launch day the experience simply wasn't as fresh. This was because the controller wasn't new to me and I'd already played the opening sections. Essentially that first play had killed off my excitement for those titles because they weren't totally fresh. I never got as excited about DS as with other systems as I was in a lull with gaming at the time and I only got one after playing Wario Ware: Touched in my local Game store and playing both that and Mario 64 on a friends system. Whilst it was largely those experiences that made me buy the system it meant that those games lost their impact and as I didn't get another DS game until Christmas just gone it meant that the system didn't have that same fresh feeling. I want to avoid that with Wii, I want my first experience of playing it to be in my home infront of my own TV and to be blown away by it then. I don't want to have that experience in a shop again as launch day is considerably more exciting when you haven't played the system. I was wondering if anyone else feels the same or if they're going to grab hold of the Wiimote at the first opportunity
-
Apparently every controller at the show had a wrist strap attached and all players were recommended to put one on just incase they got carried away and threw the Wii remote whilst playing some of the more 'active' games. I wouldn't be at all surprised if we got ones included with the final system.

Gamespot, IGN etc. all seem quite convinced its Monolith Productions who are making it and I can find no denial of that from the company anywhere. Neither companies official site has any mention of the game. From a personal point of view I would much rather this be made by Monolith Productions but it is more probable that its actually being done by Monolith Software Edit: Nintendo's Press Site says its Monolith Soft so that'll do for me. I have to say I'm severely disappointed by that though although I won't say its totally dampened by interest in the game as nothing has been shown, just the interest had come about in the first place largely cos Monolith Productions are such damn good developers.

Apologies if this has already been mentioned but this theory has popped up on the Gaming Age and Gamesradar Forums as a suggestion towards what one of the hidden hardware features is. It sounds quite likely - Its very much like the functionality in the Dreamcasts VMU's really and it fits in with Nintendo's strategy. It would also fit in with the Wii Sports Tennis demo where each person playing it had their own character automatically without any character select screen being shown. To be able to design your own character and then use them in lots of games (Animal Crossing, Wii Sports, Wii Music etc.) would be ace Thoughts?

If they had a universal friend code that worked on every single game this wouldn't be an issue - Having an individual one for each game isn't the end of the world but it would likely be very irritating if you have a lot of online games.

Eat everyone whilst making a Wokka Wokka noise They could even introduce the power pill as a new power up

My scanner is a little dodgy and the screens are only tiny but I'll give it a go

The new issue of NOM came through the door and though its largely lacking in terms of Wii stuff (It has all the third party stuff we've seen but nothing new and nothing first party) it does have a thing on Sadness with what appear to be 4 in-game shots. They're not any of the pics we've seen so far and they look like gameplay shots so I'd say its a safe bet. The graphics are black and white as we know - Basically all the background colour is black and it looks like all the detail has been sketched on by a white pencil. You can carry a torch and light up certain areas by holding the Wiimote in that direction. You can use a lasso, aimed by the Wiimote to grab onto things. Using the nunchuk you can sneak up on enemies and slit their throats and finally hold the wiimote like you're holding an umbrella, something which can be used to cover the in-game charactesr face with the umbrella or keep her dry. As the last line suggests the main character is a woman, the same one pictured on the ones we thought were in game further up the page. It looks really nice, hopefully the trailer will pop up later today.
-
We're most likely gonna have Metroid, Zelda, Excitetruck, Wii Sports and Wario Ware all from Nintendo on day one, not to mention third party titles. I don't mind waiting, I just want it to be the best game possible and its not like their won't be a load of good games to play in the meantime.

I just woke up to this and I'm chuffed to bits - Just downloading the trailer now off IGN I hope Snake being in it leads the way for Sonic to make an appearance. Shigsy said they're talking to other third parties so hopefully we'll see some of the most memorable third party characters added (Pacman, Sonic, Cloud and Sephiroth would do me ) I just hope they don't add any crap randomers. Slightly disappointed in Suitless Samus/Meta Knight though, if they were adding characters from those franchises I'd have prefered Ripley/King Dede but it'll still be a whole lotta fun and Pit and Snake are brilliant additions I hope Snake being in it means that its likely he'll crop up on Wii.

Some interesting stuff about the Classic Controller - Firstly take a look at this... As is clearly shown in that pic and as Planet Gamecube mentioned there are some clips at the back, it looks like something can be attached. Apparently Nintendo booth people said it was a secret and confirmed that the Classic controler plugs directly into the Wiimote. Perhaps you can clip the Wiimote onto the controller or something. I'm a bit disappointed really with the placement of the analogue sticks and z-button on the controller. I hope you can change the buttons around because it'd be really awkward on something like Goldeneye. I can't see myself getting one unless its bundled anyway, no need really if I can use my Cube controller with all the Virtual Console games. Also apparently the shoulder buttons are pressure sensitive like the Gamecube which suggests to me that it'll basically just be an alternative to the Cube controller as those games will be compatible with it too.

That top screen is particularly impressive. It looks gorgeous and so much fun - Can't wait for this one

DS Lite was confirmed for Europe on June 23rd, it was in an IGN video blog with the Australia and US release dates - Everyone seems to have missed it.

I reckon they'll probably be £29.99 and £19.99 for the lower tier games (Online at least). Pretty much the same as the DS System no more than £150 and I reckon extra controllers will be around £20. Nintendo will want things to be at an affordable price.
