Apple Press Conference (New iPods, iPhone price drop)
mariosmentor replied to a topic in General Chit Chat
I just want a bigger Ipod. 160 gig seems good seeing as I have 80 gigs of music. I don't care about the features I just want something to play all my music. Thats why Iphone is a no go. -
Ah, the dark tower is a good one. Unexpected, but I cannot think of no better way to end it.

It is actually. Zero Tolerance means that all crimes are punished to their most severe. It also means that more crimes will not be tolerated such as illegal downloading. Anybody who uses Sky it can tell when you are using peer to peer downloading however the small difference is that at the moment police are cracking down on those who distribute it not those who download it. Same with drugs, police have a more relaxed view on users because the main focus is to get dealers. Under Zero Tolerance that doesn't matter though, everybody gets the full punishment for any crime they commit, no matter how menial. Once that incentive comes in to start pulling in more arrests you can bet police will be looking into ways to see who's downloading what.

But he's 80 man. He has scraggly little hands...and no thumbs from a horrific baking accident.

I seen Newton Faulkner at Connect and he was utterly amazing! His album stuff is nowhere near as good as he is live, he even did a song using mock "kings of leon" accent. He is one of the good live shows that really know how to work up a crowd, if you ever get the chance to go see him I'd recommend you take it. And drag you're girlfriend along aswell, it's a total pleasant social atmosphere at his gigs.

Sorry for everybody who noticed this was old news. I just didn't see anybody put a thread up for it. Basically though depressed celebs seem to be quite common. Am I the only one who thinks that celebrities should be allowed some sort of freedom from the press? Not only will it free up space in the shops without the wall to wall pointless gossip magazines but allows for celebrities to be themselves instead of acted persona's for paparazzi. It allows them personal time to be human which must be good mentally no?

They need to be taught that even though they are in prison, a criminal life is not their only way of life. Some people are just born criminals but there are others who are just born in the wrong circumstance or brought up in no good areas where crime is a common thing. Those people need to be taught to adapt to a respectable livelihood, and maybe even convinced to seek something that they are actually interested in than forcing them to work in a Burger King for the rest of their lives. What about an 80 year old man who can't bend down to pick it up or decides not to one day because his back is feeling particularly bad? Even though he cannot physically do it he is still liable under the Zero Tolerance policy and receives the same penalty as a 20 year old who lets his dog shit over peoples front lawns.
-
But the hell are some celebs so depressed? They have so much more than everyone else.

Totally awesome. -
What about anybody here with a dog? Would you be ok with being arrested for not picking up it's shit? What about walking home after too many pints and waking up in a cell for being drunk and disorderly? And the policy doesn't mean that crime will stop. It just mean that criminals will suffer the full penalty with no leniency. Even the New York system is under scrutiny because even though the crime level has lowered it has also done in other states without the policy. Other alternatives are California's 3 strike policy where on you're third serious conviction you receive an automatic life sentence.

Partly I think the media is to blame for neurotic mothers. Blowing everything out of proportion all you see now in the papers is shootings, stabbings or drugs. It's similar to the immigration scare a few years back where the media was going crazy over it but facts revealed that the UK was one of the countries with the least % of the population not a native. That was a few years back however, don't know what it's like now.
-
C'mon then, details! Why are you against it? Is it because it is reminiscent of a police state? Do you think it won't lower the crime rate in young people? In this day and age where mothers are buying stab vests for their children maybe changes should be made but is Zero Tolerance too extreme?
-
What do you guys all think about the possibility of Zero Tolerance being implemented in the UK? David Cameron is currently backing the policy. Pro's - Criminals not going unpunished. - Deterrent from life of crime(Especially for children) - Safer society - Harsher Sentences - Eventual lower crime rate(According to New York) Con's - Meager transgressions don't go unpunished(Illegal parking) mainly law abiding people also effected. - Those sent to imprisonment for a first time offense may feel crime is their livelihood upon release(Especially for children and young persons) - Individuals Imprisoned for first time offense may learn criminal ways in jail - Need more money for more policing and more jails Discuss!

I quite enjoy watching hockey, fast paced US sport as apposed to baseball and football(US). Hockey was always fun to play aswell, really easy game to get to grips with.

12 Angry Men is one of my favourite films. So charismatic and smooth I can watch it as many times as I want and never get bored.

This is either music or sport but Neil Hannon from The Divine Comedy said that Ireland is going to win the rugby world cup and there's nothing anybody can do about it. Legend.

Yea, edited once I read you're post. She should have got a temp ban but a lifetime one is way too harsh. She's still stupid though.
-
Well the reason they are being harsh is because they have to enforce the rule. If they gave leniency to her just because she's a good stupid athlete then the rule would be null and void for then all athletes would use her example to appeal these bans. Letting her go just because she's good would be unfair to weaker athletes who wouldn't get the same treatment, aka would have to serve the full ban just because they don't have gold medal potential. In all honesty I think she should just serve her ban and get it over with if its only for a year. She's stupid enough to miss the tests then she must still suffer the penalties. The decision for a lifetime ban from the Olympics however is absurd. I understand a temporary ban but lifetime? Britain needs to sort that out.

Well if I'm capable of overlooking RG's character in spite of how annoying he is then I might be able to appreciate the comedy, or I might realize it's still quite dire. As I said I need to watch it again to decide. I just need something to fill the gaping Green Wing void.
-
I need to try and watch the Office again. I need some more good wholesome British comedy. I watched a couple when they came out but I couldn't stand Ricky Gervais. Then he became famous and thus even more irritating than before.

Metaphor The terms "mutual masturbation" and "circle jerk" are sometimes used as vulgar metaphors. They can refer to a situation, often in the workplace, politics or academia, where people are stroking each other's ego without producing anything of value.

Ah, you kids are all so grim. If you think the forums boring then go kick a ball/see a movie you lazy bastards.
