  1. For 100 to 150 quid!??
  2. Of course it's being over hyped, but that isn't new, is it. The way I see it: [1] There's GDC, then E3. Which would you reckon will be ideal for dropping bombs of biblical scale? Of course E3 not GDC. [2] Based on that, would you reckon it's better to BUILD hype towards E3, or release pressure and have a climb down at E3? Build hype, for sure. [3] So, it's obvious that GDC will be used to build hype, not to release it. In other words, we'll have even more unclear & abstract information released, which would lead to even more speculation. Tadaah!! Even more hype towards E3.
  3. With Oblivion in mind, whats the highest value gfx card these days for around 100 to 150 quid, anyone know? Maybe a bit academic, but Im just wondering. I haven't read any reviews lately on what card is getting an award etc.
  4. I enjoyed it. I saw it just because I wanted to see Miyamoto talk again, not to dig top secret info. To me, it wasn't one of those days. Good ole Miyamoto... I love the way he carries himself, friendly and modest. It's a cultural thing on one hand, but he has an indescribable chrisma about him. He really enjoys game designing, doesn't he. I think it all comes down to that. No matter how high he goes, in the end he's just good ole Miyamoto designing a game in a small room with pen & paper. Although he may have a bigger room now
  5. Very good points there lads, to be honest I found myself nodding with 2 rather different standpoints. I don't know what to make of it now. lol. Sticking to this footballing issue, say, if a boy wanted to play in a girls' team, should that be allowed? If you were a parent of a boy who wanted to play in girls team and wasn't allowed to, would that make you angry? For that matter, if a man wanted to play in woman's league, shouldn't that be allowed too? It'd be interesting if a real case of that was ever brought to court. I can't imagine how it will turn out with today's political correctness.
  6. ... then again, I could never quite understand the fascination over large breasts (yes, even after playing with them). According to the "media impression", supposedly I'm the only man on the planet who thinks Jordan's breasts are disgusting. What is it about large breasts, a Hollywood effect? Not too big, not too small, is my theory. C sounds about right. I would even encourage many women in the UK to have a breast reduction surgery. Now, that's new
  7. Following the recent accusations of Mario Peach being sexist, today the BBC London accused the FA of being sexist when an 11 year old girl was told to join girls' football team, instead of the boys team she's been playing for. It was on at 10 o'clock news. While I understand that 2 contrasting views opposing each other is the way of the world today, sometimes I think both ends go too far resulting in extremism. Human rights principles exist to combat those who take advantage of differences, not to exploit it to accuse everyone of being sexist. I think some people are missing the point of this whole "human rights" issues today. Narrowing it down to this story, the crux of the story is that this girl who has been playing for a boy's team is now asked to join girl's team, although she's been doing well for the old team. BBC London accused the FA of being sexist by telling her to join the girls' team. FA defended this on the BBC by saying that girls develop differently later on and the way they develop would be aided better in a properly guided girls team, leading up to (hopefully) joining women's national team. What do you all think? Personally, while I can understand the girl's point of view, I think it's silly to call it a sexism. There are some profound differences of physiology between men and women (uh-oh, am I a sexist now?), which are natural and perfectly alright. Nothing to be afraid or ashamed of. Yet, I seem to hear at every corner now that anything that makes women different from men is sexism. I could exeggerate it and say, is it sexism that men can't go into women's toilets and changing rooms? Surely it is, if the two must not be distinguished. God (or mother nature) must be a sexist as men can't give birth. Why is it that mothers get more rights with children than men when dealing with their own kids after divorce? That's surely sexism then? Generally, we now live in a world where "difference" must necessarily be a bad thing. Should it be so?
  8. Alright, thanks lads.. I guess it was Nintendo just saying they are INTERESTED in seeing MMO game publishers come play with them and their system. Or is there more we can read into this? From traditional point of view, I'd be surprised to see Nintendo catering for MMO community. It's just... I don't know, it just doesn't feel very Nintendo to be massively-multiplayer online supporter. Then again, WiFi has been very successful with DS, so I can't say.
  9. I'm very much looking forward to this one. It looks like they took Morrowind several steps further. I loved Morrowind. Somewhat moody, perhaps a bit too dark for some people as it was for a close friend of mine, but for me the sense of adventure and freedom was IMMENSE. I first had the xbox version but I ended up selling it because of bugs at first. After getting the PC version I was obsessed with it for a while. The online community's content was amazing. there's a util that pushes back the view limit as well. TES4 is bound to build upon its success and that's scary.
  10. I can't remember if it was MMO RPG or just some other Massively Multiplayer Online game, but I remember Nintendo said something about attempting one in the next gen. I remember people saying online that it's so unexpected of Nintendo to do that as they don't come across to be a company to do that sort of thing. Can anyone please point me to the article? I really can't remember it and it's frustrating. It must have been after last summer, but not sure.
  11. I don't cry at all now, used to cry a lot till early teens. But, when I yawn I look like I've cried, apparently. I get people asking from time to time why I'm crying just after yawning. I'm getting tired of it but oh well what can I do. I guess I'm just one of those people who have a loose tear duct that pumps a lot of tears to clear the eye. More of an annoyance for me.
  12. To me, this sort of honesty is to their credit. I'd rather have a magazine editor who's big enough to own up to mistakes. There's too little of it in today's world.
  13. Apologies in advance for digging out this thread. It's just that I realised this blog is still ongoing, and while I thought of making a new thread with a more obvious title, I decided against it as this "Osoko" idiot doesn't deserve such attention. So please forgive me for recycling this thread. I'm just plain amused about the fact that he's still maintaining that blog. What's even more amusing is how some commentators at the site actually take him seriously, or give him the benefit of the doubt. Personally, I figured out he's a fake in the first week. For a start, the name "Osoko". LOL. He should have consulted someone who knows more about Japan before settling on the name. Clearly a poor choice, when you're trying to make a convincing blog by a Japanese. There's so much wrong with this blog, from syntax (as you would expect had he been real), context to content. I just can't help but find it incredible that some people continue to believe this fake. All major sites figured out that he's a fake and stopped paying attention or making reports of him after the first couple of weeks, SO evident that he was fake. If he reported that the Earth is being invaded by Martians now, some of them visitors would believe him. I'm sorry to say, we really do have a bunch of enthusiastic brainless idiots among us Nintendo followers. I sincerely hope the members here aren't one. I don't know whether to laugh or cry. Reading some of this idiot's stuff reminds me of Nostradamus' way of writing, where the meaning depends on the mindset of a reader. EDIT: Please don't comment at his site to fuel more attention. He doesn't deserve it. I'd rather see comments posted here, not there.
  14. 4) Have tea and biscuits. Less time for this now as DS is picking up pace, but it still takes a major chunk of their day.
  15. OHHH you mean the RF tuning to display console gaming on TV. Man, you totally caught me off guard there. I didn't even begin to think in that direction till I realised what you were on about...!!
  16. I think the idea itself is perfectly valid and useful, though, about dev kit. I have the feeling it could have a robust 2d library, much like the quad support in Directx graphics (as mimickin 2D using 3D maths). In fact I wonder whether NGC dev kit already includes one such lib within the sdk. If it is, its certainly not getting used much.
  17. Interesting thoughts there lads. Nintendork asked "does the dev kit support the older consoles". Not sure if I understand the intended meaning, but I think it's possible that Nintendo may include a very robust SDK for 2D games. Or not. I don't know. If it's just a question of playing old game codes (nes/snes), it's more a question of emulation than dev kit. It's already possible for any devs to develop SNES looking games using 3D SDK in GameCube. I can't see why it should be any different in Revo. As for WiFi being necessary for Revo to keep a game alive... I doubt that somehow. I just can't get my head around the idea that Nintendo would assume Revo users to be connected to WiFi. I should think Nintendo would view that as a steep requirement. Or, did you mean that just for WiFi downloadable games? Sorry if I'm mistaken something here. It's a fairly confusing thread. P.S. I think DS is already doing a good job providing legacy support. GBA and DS are fast becoming the holygrail of new 2D style games. I wonder if Nintendo would feel it's necessary to duplicate that in Revo.
  18. I don't think "playing" is the final destination though. It's more about having the original. I've sold numerous old games and equipment in the past and I regret it. Sure you can play them on emus, but there's something special about the real hardware and game cartridges.
  19. Channel 36!? In the UK? Freeview? Sky?
  20. 6 for a toast? Must have been real nice! lol what's going on out there, toast getting 6/10 and beans on chips 9/10. Not that I'm any better mind you, I gave a pizza 9/10... I guess it's the Famitsu rating syndrome. Add supper there as well
  21. Back in 2002 worldcup I went to one of the game shops in Akihabara district. You should've seen my face when I went into the PS1 department. Shelf after shelf of never-heard-of games over 3 floors. It struck me so hard then how sony gained so much ground in PS1 era; they had loose licensing regulations and relatively cheap dev kit, allowing multitude of backstreet devs to make million games. Well that didn't do them any harm, did it. EDIT: Apparently not, according to recent news that Sony is to decrease quantity pushed on UMD side. In short, the article read that we haven't been buying enough UMD movies to meet supply so Sony and their partners are going into damage limitation execise for this period. I think the more obvious explanation regarding the above-mentioned shelving ratio is the general expectation the shop had in demand ratio. Afterall that's the only thing you got when there is a new hardware. If there is a precedence and the shop expects big sales from a new product, I guess the shop pushes it forward more.
  22. Jamba got it spot on. Iwata talked about that at length in the keynote speech, exactly those words - "Big ideas win, not big budet". Anyway.. you know, the way I see it, seeing the cost difference, Xbox360 and PS3 better look superior compared to Revo. Afterall those 2 are selling their systems on the monolithic principle of more realistic graphics. THAT is the name of the game. So obviously the games on them ought to look better. That's the flip side of all this.
  23. I think PS2 pads already do those progressive sensitivity buttons as stefkov noted, I don't remember using it myself but Im pretty sure it had that feature. And it's only a normal looking button with very little way to press down. How useful, I don't know. As for touchscreen type tech for revo, as others have pointed out, Iwata ruled it out around E3, while all the rumours of the revo controller was going around.
  24. lol. One of the most phenomenally interesting thread I've seen in the "pointless category" in a long while. Well done. Unfortunately due to various reasons these 2 days over the weekend have been a pizza weekend for me. Yesterday was American Hot by Pizza Express I got from sainsburys and it'll be the same tonight... I feel their toppings have decreased in generousity in the past year. Still it was good 9/10.
  25. lol. Bargains. What papers are you people on about? Loot?
