Phube Posted October 28, 2006 Posted October 28, 2006 Very, very positive... 5 Stars (they gave the DS 4). Can't put it up as I have no scanner! Choice quotes: "It sounds like a gimmick (Wii-mote), but you have to play the Wii to really understand how intuative and responsive this control method is." "Hardcore gamers may reject Wii as inferior to its more powerful next-gen cousins, but for everyone else this is the games machine you've been waiting for, even if you don't play games." The hardcore gamer bit is really preceded by lack of HD visuals, not games!! Also Empire has a mature readership, looks like Nintendo is accomplishing their "average Joe" demographic!!
Guest Stefkov Posted October 28, 2006 Posted October 28, 2006 muchos good news. I've seen Empire in the shops when i look at mags. Ot always looks adulty. good to hear ninty there.
Sooj Posted October 28, 2006 Posted October 28, 2006 Cool nice to know but then I wonder what they have to say about the Ps3 and Xbox360. Probably just the same to please the fans/readers
Phube Posted October 28, 2006 Author Posted October 28, 2006 Cool nice to know but then I wonder what they have to say about the Ps3 and Xbox360. Probably just the same to please the fans/readers Empire don't do things to please their readers. And to me they've always had a Sony bias (when they review other hardware), they gave the PSP 5 stars, but have since commented in game reviews about the lack of descent games and how the DS is better!!

Obviously they don';t know what a hardcore GAMER is. It's not a hardcore graphics whore
raven_blade2006 Posted October 29, 2006 Posted October 29, 2006 The positive reviews for Wii far outweigh the negative ones. This must continue.
Zechs Merquise Posted October 29, 2006 Posted October 29, 2006 Great, everything is heating up nicely, far more positive press is flowing for the Wii than there was for the 360 when that was released. People are always gonna mention it's lack of graphical prowess, but that probably won;t be a big issue to someone who just plays game for fun or has never really played a lot before.
The fish Posted October 29, 2006 Posted October 29, 2006 5/5? 5/6? 5/10? When things are in stars, they are out of 5. Think hotels or flims.
Yoshiking Posted October 29, 2006 Posted October 29, 2006 Actually, in Norway, movies are rated out of six. Like, on a dice.. I don't think people do that other places (than Scandinavia, probably), but I dunno.

McPhee Posted October 29, 2006 Posted October 29, 2006 Obviously they don';t know what a hardcore GAMER is. It's not a hardcore graphics whore Or maybe their readers dont see 'Hardcore Gamers' as being a club thats mutually exclusive to Nintendo fans? Theres plenty of support for cutting edge graphics from 'hardcore' gamers, just look at the PC market, the hardcore there are spec fanatics! In fact, those that think last gens graphics are good enough for a next-gen console are far in the minority, the only thing that sells the Wii is the controler. Empire are a good mag, usually fair and right on the money, score wise. Its good to see more support for the Wii :awesome:
