You can't convert them if they're protected though (ie. bought from Napster). You can also drag WMA's into iTunes and it can convert them, AAC is standard but you can change that in the options.

As shaq365 says lossy to lossy isn't the best thing. If you are gonna convert them to mp3 do it at a highish bitrate (192+) to minimise the effect of the conversion.

Maybe he's got an iPod, the stupid* things can't play WMA's because Apple hates Microsoft...
