You miss the good parts Konfucius.

EA’s ‘FIFA 07’ scores a second hat-trick at the top of the All Formats Chart, holding on to No1 for a third consecutive week in the face of the launch of Nintendo’s revolutionary new Wii console.

With the Christmas chart only one week away, there is no change in second place as EA’s ‘Need for Speed: Carbon’ (Wii version new this week) sticks at No2. Renewed sales of the PSP and Xbox 360 versions push ‘Pro Evolution Soccer 6’ up from No4 to No3, while last week’s retailer promoted game ‘Call of Duty 3’ from Activision falls back one place to No4, despite the Wii version joining the battle this week. In total 6 out of the 14 Wii titles launched this week feature in the All Formats Top 40. Nintendo’s ‘The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess’ debuts at No5 with two thirds of new Wii owners buying a copy, while ‘Wii Play’ (only sold as part of a bundle with the Wii Remote) comes in at No9. Nintendo may occupy the top two positions in the Wii Top 10 with ‘Zelda’ and ‘Wii Play’, but all the other positions are held by third party publishers with Ubisoft leading the way thanks to ‘Red Steel’ at No3, ‘Rayman Raving Rabbids’ at No4, ‘Monster 4x4 World Circuit’ at No8 and ‘GT Pro Series’ at No9. All four All Formats Top 40 new entries are on Nintendo’s new console with exclusives ‘Red Steel’ at No19 and the multi-format ‘Rayman Raving Rabbits’ bounding in at No30. This week’s highest climber is Midway’s ‘Happy Feet’ (Wii version new this week), dancing its way up seven places from No18 to No11. The success of Microsoft’s promotional bolt-on bundles means ‘Project Gotham Racing 3’ climbs from No36 to No22, while ‘Xbox 360 Live Arcade Unplugged’ enters the Top 40 for the first time at No35. There are now 14 DS games in the All Formats Chart ,with ‘Yoshi’s Island DS’ at No36, almost doubling in sales in its second week and ‘Big Brain Academy’ re-entering at No39.

30 9 Wii Play

32 33 Animal Crossing

The DS titles actually increased a bit while the Wii titles saw huge drops. However, this isn't particularly surprising because the Wii is sold out everywhere and I guess most people have healthy amount of games for the moment. Also keep in mind that these aren't figures of units sold only percentages so a general increase or decrease can't be determined.

But have a look for yourself.

And yet another week has passed, so I'm supplying some new charts again.

TW LW Title

9 8 Brain Training

15 15 New Super Mario Bros

27 37 Big Brain Academy

30 - Animal Crossing

33 - Zoo Tycoon DS

37 26 Sonic Rush

This week doesn't have any Wii titles at all in the Top40 but that is most likely because everyone who has a Wii has the games he want and there's a bit of a Wii shortage...

Also after some times absence Animal Crossing Wild World made it back into the charts. It seems this game as well as Brain Training just won't stop selling.

I'd also like to bring to your attention that Simpsons Hit and Run entered the charts again after some absence as well. If you look at my first post you'll notice that over a year ago it was already in the Platinum range and in the Top40 - as well as Animal Crossing which was released in Europe around that time.

Good evening. The new software charts are available.

And Zelda TP is back. :yay::yay::yay:

Copied from ChartTrack:

If EA’s New Years resolution was to claim the Top 3 games in the All Formats Chart, the giant US publisher has succeeded in week 1 with ‘FIFA 07’ kicking off 2007 at No1, followed by ‘Need For Speed: Carbon’ at No2 and ‘The Sims 2: Pets’ up one place to No3.

Every game in the All Formats Top 40 drops in sales with the seasonal post-Christmas decline accompanied by no significant new releases. Konami’s ‘Pro Evolution Soccer 6’ slips from No2 to No4, while the heavily promoted ‘Canis Canem Edit’ chalks up its joint highest All Formats chart position, up 3 places to No5. EA is the only publisher to have more than one game in the All Formats Top 10 with THQ’s ‘WWE Smackdown Vs Raw 2007’ knocked out of the Top 10 from No6 to No11, while their game ‘Cars’ shifts from No10 to No7. ‘Lego Star Wars II: The Original Trilogy’ and ‘New Super Mario Bros.’ re-enter the Top 10 at Nos 8 and 9 respectively. The remainder of the chart pack gets shuffled this week with ‘Buzz! Junior: Jungle Party’ coming up trumps as the highest Top 40 climber, up from No39 to No23.

Capcom brings EA’s grip on the All Formats No1 spot to an end with Xbox 360 exclusive ‘Lost Planet: Extreme Condition’ debuting at No1, ahead of Nintendo’s Wii-exclusive ‘Wario Ware: Smooth Moves’ new at No2 (No1 in the Wii Chart). It’s Capcom’s first All Formats No1 since ‘Dead Rising’, which was also an Xbox 360 exclusive, 19 weeks ago.

Sales of ‘FIFA 07’ are down by 59%, the largest drop-off for any All Formats Top 40 game this week, pushing the Christmas Chart-topper down from No1 to No3. ‘Lost Planet: Extreme Condition’ is the 5th Xbox 360 exclusive game to reach the All Formats No1 position, following ‘Dead or Alive 4’, ‘Saints Row’, ‘Dead Rising’ and ‘Gears of War’. There are now 17 format-exclusives in the All Formats Top 40 this week. After weeks of low stock, ‘The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess’ re-enters the Top 10, up from No36 to No8, boosted also by renewed sales of Wii hardware (up by 85% on last week).

The only other new release to make the All Formats Top 40 is Sega’s ‘World Snooker Championship 2007’ at No17, while there are re-entries for ‘Wii Play’ at No19 and ‘Red Steel’ at No34 thanks in part to renewed Wii hardware stock.

The online gaming phenomenon that is ‘World of Warcraft’ tops the All Formats Top 40 this week with the long-awaited first official add-on ‘World of Warcraft: The Burning Crusade’ debuting at No1.

Released on Tuesday 16th January ‘World of Warcraft: The Burning Crusade’, developed by Blizzard and published by Vivendi, was allowed 5 days of sales rather than the traditional two, but still narrowly missed beating ‘Championship Manager 04’ to the title of fastest selling PC game ever in the UK by just under 1,000 units. ‘Burning Crusade’ accounts for 30% of all PC games sold this week compared to 40% for Eidos’ ‘Championship Manager 04’ in week 13 2003. In its launch week ‘World of Warcraft: The Burning Crusade’ outsells the original World of Warcraft’s launch week by almost 4 to 1 with the number of subscribers to the game now estimated to be over 8 million worldwide. ‘Burning Crusade’ is only playable with the original game so it is not surprising to see ‘World of Warcraft’ re-enter the Top 40 at No28. Last week’s chart topper from Capcom ‘Lost Planet: Extreme Condition’ moves down to No2, but outsells the No3 title Nintendo’s ‘Wario Ware: Smooth Moves’ by more than 2 to 1.

Sega’s ‘World Snooker Championship 2007’ pockets a successful 2nd week of release with sales up 44%, moving up the rankings from No17 to No6 (No2 in the PS2 Full Price Chart, behind ‘FIFA 07’), while Nintendo’s ‘Wii Play’ makes the most of renewed stock, up from No19 to No11. The PC gaming sector does not only receive a boost from Warcraft, but also benefits from strong retailer promotions of super-budget titles with Egames/Greenstreet’s ‘Galaxy of Games Red’ featuring at No24, ‘Sega Rally’ from GDL’s Grabit range at No27, GSP’s ‘Puppy Luv’ at No31 and ‘Sonic Mega Collection Plus’ at No36.

  • 2 weeks later...

One day late (but I guess nobody missed it anyways) I present the weekly software UK software charts.

Capcom regains No1 in the All Formats Top 40 with ‘Lost Planet: Extreme Condition’, while last week’s chart topper ‘World of Warcraft: The Burning Crusade’ feels the heat, dropping from No1 to No5 after an impressive launch week.

Last year Capcom only managed one week at All Formats No1 with ‘Dead Rising’, but ‘Lost Planet’ has not only recaptured No1, but also outsold ‘Dead Rising’ over its first three weeks of launch by 20%. ‘FIFA 07’ and ‘Pro Evolution Soccer 6’ continue to sell well, up from No4 to No2 and No5 to No3 respectively. Replenished stock propels ‘Wii Play’ back into the Top 10, up from No11 to No4, giving Nintendo two Top 10 Wii titles, as ‘Wario Ware: Smooth Moves’ slips from No3 to No6. Nintendo record 8 games in the All Formats Top 40 this week, more than any other publisher (including EA, which has 7).

THQ’s ‘Cars’ reverses back into the Top 10, up from No16 to No9, boosted by retailer price promotions, while the American publisher’s ‘Zoo Tycoon DS’ enjoys a promotional boost, making it this week’s highest climber, up from No37 to No24. Football loses out to snooker in the PS2 Full Price chart this week as Sega’s ‘World Championship Snooker 2007’ pockets the No1 spot with ‘FIFA 07’ down from No1 to No3. No new releases make the All Formats Top 40, but Ubisoft’s film tie-in ‘Rocky Balboa’ debuts at No3 in the PSP Full Price chart, while Nintendo’s new ‘Star Fox Command’ enters the DS chart at No8.

Welcome to the charts ending 3.2.

Capcom’s ‘Lost Planet: Extreme Condition’ holds on to the No1 spot in the All Formats Chart for a 2nd consecutive week, while the football heavyweights of ‘Pro Evolution Soccer 6’ and ‘FIFA 07’ swap places - Konami’s ‘PES 6’ up one place to No2 and EA’s ‘FIFA 07’ dropping to No3.

There are now 6 games in the All Formats Top 10 by 4 different Japanese publishers (Capcom, Konami, Nintendo and Sega). Sega also claim this weeks highest new entry with the ‘Sega Mega Drive Collection’ on PSP/PS2 at No4 (No1 in the PSP budget chart, No3 on PS2 budget), .while Nintendo’s Wii games continue to sell well with 2 Wii exclusives in the Top 10 – ‘Wario Ware: Smooth Moves’ up from No6 to No5 and ‘Wii Play’ down from No4 to No7, while ‘The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess’ is this week’s highest climber, up from No21 to No13. Nintendo can also celebrate success on DS with a Top 10 re-entry for ‘New Super Mario Bros.’, up from No11 to No8 as well as a first appearance in the Top 40 for ‘Star Fox Command’ at No26 in its second week of release.

‘Little Britain: The Video Game’ becomes the only Blast/Mastertronic game in the Top 40 village this week, new at No14, while Ubisoft’s film tie-in ‘Rocky Balboa’ on PSP has an excellent second round, entering the Top 40 for the first time at No27 in its second week of release. The only remaining Top 40 new entry is Sony Online Entertainment/Koch Media’s ‘Vanguard: Saga of Heroes’ at No34, a new MMORPG from the makers of Everquest – set to provide competition with ‘World of Warcraft: The Burning Crusade’ which drops out of the Top 10 (down from No5 to No18).

Eidos becomes the 4th different publisher so far this year to reach No1 in the All Formats Chart (after EA, Capcom and Vivendi) with ‘Battlestations: Midway’ flying straight to the top (and No1 in the Xbox 360 Full Price Chart).

It’s the first All Formats No1 for the British publisher since ‘Hitman: Blood Money’ in May 2006 and shoots Capcom’s ‘Lost Planet: Extreme Condition’ down from No1 to No6. The computer says that ‘Little Britain: The Video Game’ from Mastertronic is this week’s highest climber, up from No14 to No2, missing out on No1 by only 1,000 units, but in a rare occurrence, gives UK publishers the top 2 places in the All Formats Chart. ‘FIFA 07’ keeps its eye on the ball, holding on to No3, while Konami’s ‘Pro Evolution Soccer 6’ slips from No4 to No2, but there is only a difference of 50 sales between Little Britain at No2 and PES 6 at No4. Two new entries break into the Top 20 – THQ’s multi-format ‘Avatar: The Legend of Aang’ based on the Nickelodeon anime cartoon, debuts at No13 and the critically acclaimed PS2 ‘Okami’ from Capcom is at No17 (No1 in the PS2 Full Price Chart ahead of Avatar).

There is now only a trickle of Wii games in the All Formats Top 40 as ‘Wario Ware Smooth Moves’ slides from No5 to No21, Wii Play drops from No7 to No27 and ‘The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess’ falls from No13 to No26. However Nintendo enjoys resurgent sales of DS games with ‘Nintendogs: Lab & Friends’ and ‘Nintendogs: Dalmatian & Friends’ both re-entering the chart at Nos 28 and 30 respectively.

‘FIFA 07’ shoots Eidos’ ‘Battlestations: Midway’ down from No1 to No8 to claim top spot in the All Formats Chart for the 10th time (equalling ‘Need for Speed: Most Wanted’). ‘Need for Speed: Carbon’ accelerates from No7 to No2 echoing the Christmas run-in where both EA titles held these positions for 4 consecutive weeks. Their chart-topping performance this time around is partly due to price promotion at retail.

Konami’s ‘Pro Evolution Soccer 6’ climbs one place from No4 to No3, helped by the recent release of the DS version. THQ register two Top 10 games this week – ‘Supreme Commander’ on PC the only Top 10 new entry at No4 and ‘Avatar: The Legend of Aang’ breaking into the Top 10, up from No13 to No6. EA’s Sims games also perform well this week – ‘The Sims 2: Pets’ jumps one place to No7, ‘The Sims 2’ stays at No12 (despite a climb of 43% in sales), ‘The Sims: Life Stories’ enters the Top 40 for the first time at No23 in its 2nd week, and the super-budget original ‘The Sims’ re-enters one place behind it at No24.

Super-budget PC games infiltrate the All Formats Top 40 led by GDL/Grabit’s ‘Bad Boys 2’, back at No17, followed by Extra Level Media’s ‘50 Games Red’ at No19. The success of the film during Half-Term has spun ‘Charlotte’s Web’ into the Top 40 at No30 in its second week of release, while Nintendo’s ‘Excite Truck’ becomes the Japanese giant’s 4th Wii hit, debuting at No36.

Also if any mod or admin reads this: shouldn't the charts be moved the Wii board - after all they don't really have anything to do with GC anymore.

Or should they be discontinued altogether. After all it's not a prime example of a popular thread.

The Square-Enix Final Fantasy phenomenon shows no signs of coming to an end with the latest instalment ‘Final Fantasy XII’ on PS2 becoming the fastest selling game in the series, debuting at No1 in the All Formats Chart ahead of Microsoft’s GTA-style ‘Crackdown’ for Xbox 360 at No2.

‘Final Fantasy XII’ accounts for 53.5% of all Full Price PS2 sales this week and is also the 5th different All Formats No1 so far this year, the highest number since 1999. ‘Crackdown’, which was developed by Realtime Worlds with Grand Theft Auto creator David Jones, adds to a successful start to the year for Microsoft and Xbox 360, becoming the 4th fastest selling Xbox 360 game behind ‘Gears of War’ ‘PES 6’ and ‘Call of Duty 3’. EA remains a strong presence in the All Formats Top 10 despite ‘FIFA 07’ slipping from No1 to No3 and ‘Need for Speed: Carbon’ reversing from No2 to No5. EA’s ‘The Sims 2: Pets’ climbs one place from No7 to No6, while the jump of ‘The Sims 2’ from No12 to No8 gives the giant American publisher four Top 10 games in the All Formats Chart.

The continued success of super budget PC software sees Grabit/GDL shoot their way into the Top 10 with ‘Bad Boys II’ up from No17 to No7, while titles such as ‘Sudoku’ at No16 and ‘Sheep’ at No17 help give the new budget re-publisher a total of 6 Top 40 titles. Five games crash out of the All Formats Top 10 – ‘Supreme Commander’ drops from No4 to No12, ‘Avatar: The Legend of Aang’ falls from No6 to No14, ‘Little Britain: The Video Game’ slips 13 places from No5 to No18, ‘Lost Planet: Extreme Condition’ is now at No22 from No10, while ‘Battlestations: Midway’ which was No1 two weeks ago now finds itself at No23. Wii title ‘Excite Truck’ jumps over ‘Zelda: The Twilight Princess’, up from No36 to No21 and now tops the Wii Chart.

Several Nintendo titles reentered the charts this week and three claimed the Top10 with Sonic Secret Rings coming in on 5th place in its first week and keep in mind the stats end on Saturday so Sonic only had two days to go sell.

Square-Enix’s ‘Final Fantasy XII’ remains at the top of the All Formats Chart for a second week ahead of Microsoft’s ‘Crackdown’ which holds on to No2.

The last Final Fantasy game for the PS1 ‘Final Fantasy IX’ is the only other ‘Final Fantasy’ game to hold on to the All Formats No1 position for longer (3 weeks). There may be no change at the top, but there is room in the Top 10 for 2 new entries – EA’s ‘The Sims 2: Seasons’ at No3 and Sega’s ‘Sonic and the Secret Rings’ on Wii at No5 (and No1 in the Wii Chart). The All Formats Top 10 contains 6 format-exclusive games across PS2, Xbox 360, PC, Wii and DS. Nintendo’s ‘Dr Kawashima’s Brain Training’ can’t get enough of the All Formats Top 10, re-entering for a second time, up from No11 to No8 while pushing All Formats No10 ‘New Super Mario Bros.’ down to No2 in the DS Chart. The only other new entry in this week’s Top 40 is Take 2’s ‘Ghost Rider’ at No24 in its second week of release. It’s a good week for Japanese publishers as well as Nintendo software formats with half the All Formats Top 10 being games published by Japanese companies. All Top 40 Wii and DS exclusive games are climbers this week, except ‘Mario Slam Basketball’ which drops from No36 to No39.

The lower reaches of the All Formats Top 40 is peppered with DS re-entries – ‘Animal Crossing: Wild World’ at No32, ‘Nintendogs: Dalmatian & Friends’ at No33, ‘Big Brain Academy’ at No38 and ‘Mario Kart DS’ at No40. Nintendo is the most represented publisher in the Top 40 with 11 games.. ‘Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter 2’ from Ubisoft and ‘Grand Theft Auto: Vice City Stories’ are both due next week and will make it hard for Square to realise a 3rd week at No1.

WEEK ENDING 10 March 2007

Ubisoft put Square-Enix’s two-week run at the top of the All Formats Chart to an end as ‘Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon: Advanced Warfighter 2’ on Xbox 360 debuts at No1, pushing ‘Final Fantasy XII’ down to No2.

The first ‘Warfighter’ game never managed to top the All Formats Chart despite selling 10,000 more units when it was released exactly one year ago. ‘Final Fantasy XII’ remains top of the PS2 Full Price Chart by a long margin despite sales dropping by over 50%. The budget priced PS2 release of ‘Grand Theft Auto: Vice City Stories’ propels Rockstar/Take 2’s game back into the All Formats Chart at No3 (No1 PS2 budget chart). Microsoft’s ‘Crackdown’ on Xbox 360 can’t compete with the new ‘Warfighter’, cracking under the pressure (down 3 places from No2 to No5). Sega’s ‘Sonic and the Secret Rings’ performs better, up one place to No4. At No32, Nintendo’s ‘Mario Vs Donkey Kong 2: March of the Minis’ is the only other new entry in the All Formats Top 40 with new titles ‘The Fast and the Furious: Tokyo Drift’ from EA/Namco Bandai only making No10 in the PS2 Full Price Chart and Atari’s ‘Bullet Witch’ only managing to conjure up No7 in the Xbox 360 Full Price Chart.

OP 40 ENTERTAINMENT SOFTWARE (ALL PRICES), WEEK ENDING 17 March 2007

Ubisoft’s ‘Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon: Advanced Warfighter 2’ is just knocked off the top of this week’s chart by Rockstar’s ‘Grand Theft Auto: Vice City Stories’ with only 200 sales between them. ‘Tom Clancy’s GRAW 2’ on Xbox 360 moves down to No2 and ‘Final Fantasy XII’ follows suit to No3. Sega’s ‘Sonic and the Secret Rings’ is a non-mover at No4 and ‘Tiger Woods PGA Tour 07’ returns to the chart at No5 thanks to the Wii release of the popular series. The PS2 conversion of ‘Test Drive Unlimited’ is unable to move ‘Final Fantasy XII’ off the top of the PS2 Full Price Chart but propels the title back to No7 in the All Formats Chart. There are new entries this week for Disney Interactive with DS ‘Spectrobes’ at No23 overall and No4 in the DS Chart and for EA with Wii ‘SSX Blur’ at No28 overall and No5 in the Wii Chart.
