pokekid Posted August 5, 2006 Posted August 5, 2006 Just got a letter saying that Future could not give me the free wavebird with my ONM because the offer had expired, when it was valid at the time and they told me my subscription would continue anyway and my first issue would come soon (Although it doesnt start until December). I'm expecting the same letter for N-gamer So be careful with immediate subscriptions if the gift was a deciding factor because they wont cancel it, it will still charge. What are the new subscription gifts/links for ONM and N-gamer?
ShadowV7 Posted August 5, 2006 Posted August 5, 2006 It's still the wavebird for NGamer AFAIK. Something that will make every gamer join
Kazzahdrane Posted August 5, 2006 Posted August 5, 2006 I've been giving it some thought. I think I'll wait until I've read a couple more issues but I was very impressed with the honesty and informative writing in the first issue, as opposed to the awful writing in the issues of ONM I have read recently. The only thing that bothers me is that it isn't an official magazine so I wonder if they will be much later with news etc than ONM. It will also depend on what the subscription gift is a few months down the line.
demonmike04 Posted August 5, 2006 Posted August 5, 2006 Lets boycott ONM, nobody buy the goddam magazine. It sucks, face it. You all know deep down it does, yet instead of taking action you still buy the magazine and complain. Dont buy it. Its poison to money.
Guest Stefkov Posted August 5, 2006 Posted August 5, 2006 meh i get magazines to take up some room on my shelves of some nintendo stuff. sometimes the freebies are good. but yeah its mainly about taking up room on shelves.
pokekid Posted August 5, 2006 Author Posted August 5, 2006 Something to keep in mind, if you boycott ONM and next issue their is a DVD with brand new wii footage like SSB:B (See a different thread) then what'll you do?
EchoDesiato Posted August 5, 2006 Posted August 5, 2006 Something to keep in mind, if you boycott ONM and next issue their is a DVD with brand new wii footage like SSB:B (See a different thread) then what'll you do? Wait until someone posts it on the internet.
ShadowV7 Posted August 5, 2006 Posted August 5, 2006 Wait until someone posts it on the internet. Yup,saves us money

Actually I haven't bought it since the 2nd issue when I realised it was complete crap. I just have the opportunity to read issues where I work
blender Posted August 5, 2006 Posted August 5, 2006 happenened to me too. It is a very dirt tactic by ONM. Will be shouting at someone on monday. You ought to be able to get your money back. But this is handled wrong.
demonmike04 Posted August 5, 2006 Posted August 5, 2006 Something to keep in mind, if you boycott ONM and next issue their is a DVD with brand new wii footage like SSB:B (See a different thread) then what'll you do? I will laugh at how late they are on publishing a magazine with a DVD containing scenes of Leipzig convention, but i'd also be suprised if they actually do this. Honestly, magazines are dying, the only thing still going for them is the free crap. EDGE magazine is still alive and kicking, as it DOES get exclusives before it hits the internet, yet our regions Nintendo magazine does not. Trust me, your paying £3.99 for an encyclopedia this month. The other stuff are stories retold in a funny (not) way.
KKOB Posted August 5, 2006 Posted August 5, 2006 ONM can suck my toe!!! ONM has just got boring since it started, NGamer is the best nintendo mag out there and i really want to subscribe, im going to phone up and ask them about the wavebird to confirm and find out how easy it is to change the delivery address because i may be going to uni :S
thomaschung Posted August 5, 2006 Posted August 5, 2006 since the magazine is on issue 1 how can the subscription offer be expired? i'm sure it hasn't for ngamer. was very unimpressed with the lastest issue of ONM. Not much good content in it and too much crap besides. though it's my 5th issue so i get one more from my quarterly subscription. would cancel if it wasn't because we are so close to launch and the next few issues should get very exciting perhaps.
Kazzahdrane Posted August 6, 2006 Posted August 6, 2006 I've thought for a while that game magazines are only worth reading for the quality of the writing, since these days news is so much quicker to appear on the internet. Edge and PC Gamer have always stood out to me as good magazines in this respect.
knightendo Posted August 7, 2006 Posted August 7, 2006 i dont understand where the ONM hate is coming from, i think it's an excellent read, and as much as ngamer was very good, ONM is much more mature. so what if the stories were on the net first, that's not exactly ONM's fault for goodness sake! and besides, it's good to get all the internet gossip either verified or rubbished from the official source. also find their in-depth previews are fascinating and much more "in-depth" than the net. don't get me started on the resi wii fiasco!! that was blown outta proportion by people on the net, the magazine never promised anything for the next issue, it said it'd be a while yet for heaven's sake.
Kazzahdrane Posted August 7, 2006 Posted August 7, 2006 As a mature and intelligent gamer I don't have any interest in reading a magazine where every single article is a press release advertising Nintendo's latest game/hardware (however, in the interests of fair play I did read a few issues to see what the mag was like). NGamer impressed me as soon as they were big enough to admit that the Wii version of Z:TP has some serious control issues.
pokekid Posted August 7, 2006 Author Posted August 7, 2006 NGamer impressed me as soon as they were big enough to admit that the Wii version of Z:TP has some serious control issues. I've thought it might have control problems from seeing the E3 Conference demonstration and I saw a video on Google Video of someone spending about 3 minutes just to learn how to use the bow and even then he struggled. But I'll wait and see, the extra features might overpower the problems.
knightendo Posted August 7, 2006 Posted August 7, 2006 all it needs is sensitivity alteration, and most FPS games these days have them built in for the user to alter if needs be, i'm sure it won't be difficult to include something similar in something like zelda. besides, it's still not finished, so we can start complaining about it yet!
Charlie Posted August 7, 2006 Posted August 7, 2006 Something to keep in mind, if you boycott ONM and next issue their is a DVD with brand new wii footage like SSB:B (See a different thread) then what'll you do? Where the new footage = E3 trailer most likely. Did they say they had new SSBB footage?
pokekid Posted August 7, 2006 Author Posted August 7, 2006 Where the new footage = E3 trailer most likely. And I think 00:00:30:00 SUPER SMASH BROS. - BRAWL I hope its 30 MINUTES if not it'll be HH:MM:SS:Milliseconds? so 30seconds of footage. How long was the trailer? EDIT: Well its not 30 minutes "When submitted to the BBFC the work had a running time of 24m 54s "
