Retro_Link Posted October 1, 2005 Posted October 1, 2005 http://www.cubed3.com "Nintendo’s ‘exciting innovations’ this time? Six new boards, two new characters and loads of new minigames. It will ‘keep you rockin'’ it says here... This time the theme of the game is cruising (in a ship, not with your chav mates around time in a Ford Escort). Each board represents a port of call for the ship: Grand Canal, Pagoda Peak, Pyramid Park, Neon Heights, Windmillville and Bowser's Enchanted Inferno. Sounds like fun? But wait, trouble is nigh (read: Bowser). The two new characters are Birdo the sexually confused dino/bird and Dry Bones, and with 86 new minigames (11 of which use the GameCube Mic, people with regional accents rejoice!). As is the case with Mario Party games, there has to be a plot; brace yourselves. Toadsworth has invited Mario and all his friends to go on a luxury cruise aboard the MSS Sea Star. However, someone gets left behind: Bowser. Furious at being omitted from the exclusive guest list, the Koopa King vows revenge. When the cruise ship arrives at its first destination, the passengers discover that Bowser has turned their vacation paradise into a stress-filled madhouse. Groan. There are four main game modes. Party Cruise is for up to eight players, with all of you playing around one massive board against each other in two teams. Solo Cruise, for people with no friends, is a battle against the computer (there is nothing more sad than playing Mario Party on your own, please don’t). Deluxe Cruise is a chance to choose between free play, tournament, decathlon and duelling options, along with two brand new sets of rules. Finally, the Duty Free Shop allows players to exchange mileage points for ‘awesome’ unlockables etc. Expect Mario Party 7 to be convincing nobody of its originality and worth in the gaming world (in the USA) on 7/11/05." http://www.cubed3.com/news/4360 Mario Party 7; YAWN!! Nothing much new there then! and the new characters are hardly inspiring are they! oh well! Just get to work on Mario Party Revolution Nintendo (there's been enough on GC!!)!!
Stocka Posted October 1, 2005 Posted October 1, 2005 Mario Party 4 is the only MP game I have and its fantastic fun, I haven't got any of the others but nintendo are making them a little too much. I've heard they aren't having as much time put into them and feel cheap, and Mario Party Advance is an example that the series is going downhill a bit. I'm not getting another Mario Party game for a while, but Mario Party with the revolution, online, is almost a guaranteed purchase from me.
Hero-of-Time Posted October 1, 2005 Posted October 1, 2005 I own them all on the cube...in fact the only 1 I havent played was number 3. Im a fan of the series as its always a laugh when you have a games night to slap on Mario Party. Four mates + Mario Party = Good Times
Mike Posted October 1, 2005 Posted October 1, 2005 I don't think I'll bother with this one. I've got 5 and 6, and played my girlfriend's copy of 4 to death, and I think that's enough for me. I'm looking forward to see how the franchise turns out on the Revolution, though - roll on Mario Party 8! (By the way, who's crazy idea was it to have Dry Bones, of all things, as a new playable character?)
Hero-of-Time Posted October 1, 2005 Posted October 1, 2005 (By the way, who's crazy idea was it to have Dry Bones, of all things, as a new playable character?) Good point there considering the massive amount of mario characters that have been in many games they decide to choose Dry Bones...weird. I would love it if they brought out Paper Mario Party. It would be awesome considering the graphical style and the amount of cool characters in the series.
