*UPDATE* SOLD OUT AT PLAY ASIA, AND THEN SOLD OUT AT LIK SANG TOO, BUT NOW AVAILABLE ONCE AGAIN AT PLAY ASIA FOR THE ORIGINAL PRICE :) Please follow my link :)

Hi everyone,

As you may or may not know, the Gamecube Component Cable has been 'out of production' for some time now, and is fetching ridiculous prices on ebay (£80+!) I have been searching all over for a sensibly priced one with no luck. That was until the other day, when I got an email from Play Asia saying they had more in stock. Please follow my link:-

(Please let me know if my link doesnt work)

Even if you dont own a component TV yet (which I dont) I would recommend thinking about buying one, as chances are in the future you will own one, and then if the ebay prices continue to rise (which I think they will with it being out of production) you will wish you had bought one when you had the chance!

Anyway, hope this helps someone, and if you follow my link you will be helping me alittle by their affiliate program which I just thought id try out :)

alright my bad for knockin ya down but i didnt know it would really make things look better, do all games take advantage of the cable or is it only specific games cause if its all ill definalty but it.

It does wonders if you have an HDTV, if you don't it still makes the picture much more vibrant and crisp. Many many games support it, even if it doesn't say it.

Glad I helped someone, and thanks for using my link :)

....and thanks Blender for mentioning that - I almost forgot. After November 2004 many Gamecubes had the 'digital out' port removed, as nintendo said that 'less than 1% of our user base is using it' or something. Anyway, as far as I understand it all PAL units (bar the Mario Smash Football 'pearl' gamecube pak) still have the digital out - as nintendo europe still had alot of stock of Gamecubes ::shrug:

All you have to do is check that you have two AV ports on the back of your cube (one should say 'digtal out')

If you use a component cable on a PAL cube PAL games will display in 480i (50Hz) or 576i (60hz) (please correct me if I am wrong) which should still look alot sharper and brighter/clearer than the RGB scart cable  Also, if you use a freeloader with NTSC games which have a progressive scan option (most do) you will be able to enable it on a PAL cube - as it is only the PAL software which has had the progressive scan option removed - the PAL cube IS still capable of progressive scan.

One thing to note though is that you will still need to use the composite cable that came with your cube for the sound. (or the RGB scart cable if your running you sound system through your TV)

I think you might aswell wait for the wii and its own component cable, then u get the best of both worlds.

Yeh, I agree with that. Just seems alittle pointless now to even bother with it. Could just put that £30 towards the Wii.

Apparently F-Zero looks amazing in 480p though if anyone's going to buy this cable.

Wow. They dispatched my cable an hour after i ordered. I've been wanting this for ages, I don't know if you've ever seen a GC on an HDTV, but it looks horrible, and i'd rather keep on playing my GC for the next 6 months.

you sure that'll work with Wii? because my cube looks crap on my hdtv in composite and i really want to enjoy TP as much as possible. Will one be released for Wii?

Erm, didn't they NOT release these things in europe because the games DON'T have progressive scan because hdtv tv's were NOT mainstream yet? So wouldn't it be kinda pointless to hook it up to your Pal cube? The best you can get over here is an RGB scart, which rocks by the way.

EDIT: hm, some of my comments were already talked about, my bad. But still, waste of money imo. You don't even know for sure which games would possibily support 480i.

Thanks for the info Sanchez, glad it helped you get a clearer picture :)

This will be the last update from me. As you may know Play Asia sold out, but then Lik Sang got some stock in. They too are now sold out, but luckily Play Asia now has had a restock for the original price! Once again stock is probably limited so I would get you order in quick. Please follow my link:-
