Dyson Posted May 13, 2006 Posted May 13, 2006 I've just been looking at random pictures of the Wii, and I found this: Now normally I'm not the kind of person that spots small details, but on the side panel it looks to me like it's removable. This is just a theory, of course, but I suspect that the side panel will be removable for the purpose of changing the plate. Anyone else got any theories, or has this been announced and is it just me being completely dense?
AshMat Posted May 13, 2006 Posted May 13, 2006 Nah, it'll jsut be a piece of the case, they wouldn't rip of M$ like this. Though i wouldn't doubt changeable bases
Dyson Posted May 13, 2006 Author Posted May 13, 2006 Blah, from having looked at it again along with a few other pictures, I think it's just the way the console it set out. On the top is the flap for the Gamecube controllers, and next to it is the flap for memory cards. The seperation down the side of the console is where the front joines on. Which leads me to another theory as I type, perhaps the front will be changable? :P
Nintendork Posted May 13, 2006 Posted May 13, 2006 No, Nintendo never allows consumers to screw with the insides. Name a Nintendo console where you could do this in the past, I doubt you can (unless it's some gimmick) Nintendo wants their warranty scheme to be as cost effective as possible. If people get it home and start screwing with it they'll claim factory problems and Nintendo will have to replace it. I say doubleplusno. Choose your colour on launch, you pick the one you like and stick with it.
Dyson Posted May 13, 2006 Author Posted May 13, 2006 Name a Nintendo console where you could do this in the past Gameboy Micro?
mario114 Posted May 13, 2006 Posted May 13, 2006 I don't think they would, I mean thats microsofts gimic for the 360, ok the micro does, but they don't even sell them plates for it in the Uk. I don't even think it looks removable, the in-dent is for the top pannel, the rest is just seem lines.
AshMat Posted May 13, 2006 Posted May 13, 2006 Why would you want to change the side of the console anyway? I can understand the fron, but the side?
Shino Posted May 13, 2006 Posted May 13, 2006 lolz00rzz, n00b!! L0Lz0r!1! 1 4r€ T3h w1|\| !!1!1! On topic, I don't think it's a good idea not even in terms of design, but if we could change the color of the light, now that would be cool.

On one of the videos it got darker and lighter, though that could have and probaly was just for effect in the video to look stylish.
ShadowV7 Posted May 13, 2006 Posted May 13, 2006 Well even though I didn't see it,it's a sexy pic.Yea Nintendork got Pwned.
yogi_bear Posted May 13, 2006 Posted May 13, 2006 that console just looks tremendous, no need to alter it in any shape or form
Zero Seven Posted May 13, 2006 Posted May 13, 2006 that console just looks tremendous, no need to alter it in any shape or form Agreed, id never make the Wii look tacky in any way by adding a differnt face plate that wouldnt suit the clean sleek look the console delivers.
skarmachild Posted May 13, 2006 Posted May 13, 2006 Gameboy Micro? Gameboy SP had changeable tops, same with GC.
Nintendork Posted May 14, 2006 Posted May 14, 2006 Pwned indeed, I meant home consoles.. the GB micro does count The GBA and GameCube shells voided your warranty. I'm just saying.. I think it's highly unlikely they will let people customise it.. it's already pretty simple design- you could just put decals over it or wait for a limited edition one. It's clearly going to have electronics and chips that will get fucked up if you touch them or force a shell on that's going to be a tight fit. haute couture n.
