Bluejay Posted February 2, 2006 Posted February 2, 2006 Has anyone played it? I'm considering purchasing it off steam but reviews seem to say its almost impossible to play. Is the difficulty an issue or do you get used to it?
Charlie Posted February 2, 2006 Posted February 2, 2006 I don't actually have it, I'm pretty new to PC gaming. When I first got CS;Source I couldn't do it at all. I'm getting better all the time now, I'm up to the point I can give anyone a decent fight. But I had to learn it all again with BF2. I would just go for it, you will get better.
Adrian DX Posted February 2, 2006 Posted February 2, 2006 Ã don't like DoD Source.. I just don't find it fun.
Bluejay Posted February 2, 2006 Author Posted February 2, 2006 Thanks for opinions, found out its only £12. Might as well give it a try soon.
AshMat Posted February 2, 2006 Posted February 2, 2006 Might try it, atm im trying to get used to css, but it's so hard to get good when everyone you play kicks your ass
arab_freak Posted February 2, 2006 Posted February 2, 2006 It's cheap, and it's fun. If you try it and don't like it, don't sulk. It only cost you 12 pounds.
Guest Jordan Posted February 2, 2006 Posted February 2, 2006 Personally i love it, shame theres only currently 6 maps. Ah well. I perfer CS Source however!
gaggle64 Posted February 3, 2006 Posted February 3, 2006 I simply adore Day of Defeat. It's not as strategic as CS, but it's high-class WW2 action. Random gun fire, explosions and RPGs flying thick with the bullets and dead bodies. Also comedy situations abound with the great ragdolls and Source's special brand of "realistic physics." Well worth it.
Wrath Posted February 3, 2006 Posted February 3, 2006 I got it, and i much prefer CSS, i havent played it much, but it can be fun. Depends on your taste really..
Bluejay Posted February 4, 2006 Author Posted February 4, 2006 Gonna download it today or overnight, how big is the download? I'm on 512k, will it need an entire night or will the rest of today do? (Don't really want to not be able to play online games all of today if there is no chance of being able to play DoD later.)
gaggle64 Posted February 4, 2006 Posted February 4, 2006 I'm not sure, but i think it will probably take at least a couple of hours on 512kb. You can always just pause the update and continue later if need be.
Bluejay Posted February 4, 2006 Author Posted February 4, 2006 Thanks for quick response Gaggle, gonna start downloading as soon as my Mum returns with her credit card. EDIT; 2 hours remaining, faster than I thought.
AshMat Posted February 4, 2006 Posted February 4, 2006 Ill check the Specs, if i amm powerful enough, i may well buy it. EDIT: Hot damn, im on the mark, i mgiht get this sometime, though at the moment im really getting into css, im actually getting good now.
Bluejay Posted February 4, 2006 Author Posted February 4, 2006 Personally i love it, shame theres only currently 6 maps. Ah well. I perfer CS Source however! Are there any unofficial maps like those found on GE Source? EDIT: Played DoD, It is tough. A lot of fun though, also answered my own question, there are user created maps(not that I've tried any.) Also, on the server I played, people kept shouting at me to move up. What do they mean? I left promptly confused.
gaggle64 Posted February 5, 2006 Posted February 5, 2006 Don't worry. Half the time players just use the voice chat menu (press X, C, and V,) just to add to the effect, with "Move up!" being popular simply because it's a good all purpose thing to shout mid battle. DoD is tough, but you'll soon get used to the in and outs of it. Dying a lot is all part of the game anyway. Dods main difference from CS is the fact half the time you'll get shot, blown up, and cut down by friendly fire all the time, but it is all part of the fun. I recommend you stick the OC clan server in your favourites. It's a nice, friendly, UK based server,. Don't expect me on for at least 6 months though - my college connection suxers. (They also have CS and Goldeneye: Source servers - maybe see you there sometime!)
