Retro_Link Posted February 8, 2013 Posted February 8, 2013 A thread in which to discuss the latest episodes of the weekly video podcast.
Retro_Link Posted February 16, 2013 Author Posted February 16, 2013 (edited) Looks like it could be quite a good one this week, they'll be talking about the PS4 and the Event Next Week. Oh and that guy who did the PS4 Video for GT is on it for the first time!! Episode 242: Before PS4 It’s time to start dishing dirt on the PS4! Plus, what’s up with all these Nintendo Directs and Valve firing people? (45:15) http://www.gametrailers.com/full-episodes/btu3d4/invisible-walls-episode-242--before-ps4 (thoughts whilst watching) - True The Last of Us could get kind of caught up in everything E3, but I think it's way to big a game for it to have any real affect. - I could see Sony actually, having a cloth over the PS4 for the vast majority of the conference whilst they talk about PS3/Vita... everyone would still be going... OMFG it's there, it's there!! - Hmm maybe the console form will be revealed at E3, but I'd much rather E3 was just about THE GAMES! - Can't see them doing Last of Us PS4 etc... - It does seem kinda early for the console to be out this year actually, but I guess there's just a lot of games we don't know about yet. Would we really get Last of Us and Uncharted 4 (which you'd think would be a launch title) in the same year? And it really seems like it would be hard for a lot of Third Parties to have stuff ready in time. - Yeah Soul Reaver could be a good franchise to revive for the PS4, not sure it would have the draw as a launch title though. - Really don't think Final Fantasy has anywhere near the same pulling power anymore. I think people would much rather see fresh JRPG's like Xenoblade and Ni No Kuni. - Infamous 3, yes please! Has to be a launch title! Edited February 16, 2013 by Retro_Link
Hero-of-Time Posted February 16, 2013 Posted February 16, 2013 I haven't listened to these guys in ages, but have sorted that now. What's the Welsh bloke called again? I love his banter. Yeah, I can't see The Last of Us pulling a Twilight Princess. I think it should remain an exclusive to the PS3 and a final farewell to the system from Naughty Dog. Having another Infamous would be awesome. I'm a big fan of the series and was craving more once I finished the second game. Luckily the DLC arrived to help my craving. Is it a system seller? Hmmmm hard to say, but i'd still welcome it. I still think the FF series has selling power IF they give us the titles that we want. Many, myself included, have been waiting for both FFVersus and Type 0, but SE are too busy porting old games on to mobile phones and turning Lightning into Ezio. I think that we may see FFVersus on the PS4 rather than PS3 and if it is ready for launch, then I think people will see just how much pulling power the series still has. The same goes for The Last Guardian. Either one of those titles is probably enough to make the console have a successful launch.
Retro_Link Posted February 16, 2013 Author Posted February 16, 2013 @Hero\-of\-Time Welsh guy is Marcus, he's great, loves Drippy from Ni No Kuni too! :p That new guy they've got on Gametrailers now is a great addition, wherever he's come from! The PS4 Press Conference video he did was brilliant, and adds some more charisma to the GT team. I enjoyed them going through all the developers trying to work out what games they'd bring... if it really is out around October/before Christmas, the lead time is a really short one to work out games other than First Party. Maybe Europe will benefit from a later launch? I think Infamous 3 could sell systems yeah, but Uncharted 4 would be the system seller. Will GTAV appear on both? Just coming off Heavy Rain, I'd kinda like to see what Beyond could look like on PS4! :p
Hero-of-Time Posted February 16, 2013 Posted February 16, 2013 [MENTION=347]Just coming off Heavy Rain, I'd kinda like to see what Beyond could look like on PS4! :p I'm looking forward to Beyond as well. Also, what’s going on with Bungie’s Destiny? Is there enough info out there to secure your pre-order dollars? Hero-of-Time Posted February 23, 2013 Posted February 23, 2013 Watching/Listening to it now. Big respect to Mikes Brahma Bull cap! I agree with the S-E crack. The company has lost the plot and the presser announcement was a slap in the face. It wouldn't surprise me that the announcement at E3 will be Versus for PS4, possibly rebranded as FF15. Marcus is hilarious with his Bungie banter. I have to say, to a certain extent, I do agree with him.
Retro_Link Posted April 9, 2013 Author Posted April 9, 2013 (edited) Marcus Beer returns to help dissect Thief, Battlefield 4, and more GDC goodness, and lameness like Halo 4’s removal of sci-fi weaponry (47:53) http://www.gametrailers.com/full-episodes/1yo3qe/invisible-walls-crisis-on-infinite-walls Thief sounds incredible!! The Battlefield 4 talk/trash is brilliant! Edited April 9, 2013 by Retro_Link
Ganepark32 Posted April 9, 2013 Posted April 9, 2013 Listened to that episode at the weekend and have to agree with all of the comments which were appearing alongside the video on the site. Thought it was a pretty poor episode and definitely in need of someone taking some of the guests by the scruff of the neck and telling them to put a sock in it until someone has finished saying their piece. To me, as a podcast (or whatever you want to call it now), I think its gone down hill since Satterfield left in January. I was by no means a fan of him but he at least put some structure to the show and held it all together a bit better.

They don't have a suitable replacement for him. That episode was a bit of a one off in terms of them talking over each other, it was annoying me somewhat too, but that was largely due to there being one or two guys who don't often do the show.
