bob Posted January 16, 2013 Posted January 16, 2013 Right so i heard this song a while ago, and i know it isn't the first time i've heard it. But i can't for the life of me remember where i am remembering it from. (check me out i done a youtube video right) Now i know it isn't: 500 days of summer Step Brothers Wedding Singer The Office I vaguely remember it may be some sort of lip dub video, or possibly a wedding proposal. Or a flash mob? Does anyone know of any famous viral videos that used that song? I'm tearing my hair out! (I'm not)
The Peeps Posted January 16, 2013 Posted January 16, 2013 I just know it from 500 days of Summer. It also sounds like Ducktales
Ashley Posted January 16, 2013 Posted January 16, 2013 According to Wikipedia: American pop rock band Mêlée included a cover version of "You Make My Dreams" on their album Devils & Angels. The vocals from "You Make My Dreams" are sampled on R&B singer Amerie's song "Take Control". On December 13, 2010, a cappella group Groove For Thought sang a pop/jazz arrangement of "You Make My Dreams" on season 2 of The Sing Off on NBC. On a 2008 episode of Saturday Night Live Thursday show, Will Forte and Fred Armisen impersonated Hall & Oates and did a parody song to the tune of "You Make My Dreams", in which Will Forte supported senator Barack Obama and Fred Armisen supported John McCain. In the 2009 film (500) Days of Summer, Joseph Gordon-Levitt's character, Tom, leaves his apartment with 'You Make My Dreams Come True' being played non-diegetically. He begins an impromptu dance and musical number which completely changes the genre of the film and it coincides with other intertextual references, like Disney films for example. In Glee´s Season 3 episode "Mash Off" from 2011, the songs I Can't Go For That (No Can Do) and You Make My Dreams Come True, were used as a mash up by the New Directions, who were competing against The Troubletones. It has been featured in the television shows King of the Hill, Saturday Night Live, Glee, The Office, Cupid, and Rookie Blue, as well as the films Step Brothers, the documentary My Date With Drew, Dumb and Dumberer, and The Wedding Singer. The song was featured prominently in the popular Sundance film (500) Days of Summer and in the medical drama Private Practice. The song has been featured in the Australian television advertising campaign for the Toyota Camry Hybrid. The advertising campaign was released prior to the 2010 Winter Olympics.[2] The song also has been featured in the Fox television series Raising Hope during the first season, in 2011, and in Telus' Winter 2011 advertising campaign. The song was also featured in a 2012 eHarmony commercial airing on the television network A&E. Footage from the music video was later combined with excerpts from the film Desperate Lives, resulting in a popular Keyboard Cat video, "Play Helen off Keyboard Cat. And then join Daryl and John." The cast of Glee performed the song as part of a mash-up including another one of Hall & Oates songs, I Can't Go for That (No Can Do), in the episode Mash Off. The song was used in a 2012 ad for the website eHarmony.com. One of those?
bob Posted January 16, 2013 Author Posted January 16, 2013 Yeah i did look there Ashley, but to no avail. Instead, i played that damn song on repeat for the last 5 hours to try and jog my memory. And it worked: I'm glad it's something like that and not from some embarrassing porn or something.
Dannyboy-the-Dane Posted January 16, 2013 Posted January 16, 2013 I'm glad it's something like that and not from some embarrassing porn or something. I've been there, except I needed to find out what the damn song was. I did succeed eventually.
bob Posted January 16, 2013 Author Posted January 16, 2013 Yeah it's weird when it's the other way around. The thing was, in my mind i could see some people oddly shuffling towards the camera, and so i assumed they were old people dancing to the song. Turns out i was remembering people pretending to walk forwards while walking backwards.
Jim Posted January 17, 2013 Posted January 17, 2013 Before reading any replied, I wanted to say Zoolander so badly.. whyyyy? =/
jayseven Posted January 17, 2013 Posted January 17, 2013 Fuck yeaah hall and oates! Thanks for reminding me I need to get listening to them again. The only problem is that whilst listening to them I can't walk in a straight line. I keep finding my feet are doing this kind of jaunty skip, and I'm not one for public shows of happiness.
