Plain_Ole_Al Posted January 1, 2006 Posted January 1, 2006 Just wondering, why did Nintendo let go of their share in Rare? Would they not want a share in whatever games Rare created for the Xbox 360 for the Revolution? The shares were probably worth a shed load, but were they worth that much?
Hellfire Posted January 1, 2006 Posted January 1, 2006 This is kind of an old subject, but Rare was getting really slow at making games and lately they weren't so good. They were worth a bucketload so they sold it to Microsoft. Not sure I understand what you're saying about 360 though.
darkcloud Posted January 1, 2006 Posted January 1, 2006 Basically, Nintendo didn't see them as worth the money they were putting into them anymore...... I personally still like there games, but, for some reason I can't bring myself to play Kameo..... I loaded it up for like 10 mins before turning it off. o.O Guess it's a good thing this isn't the only game I have for 360. lol But yeah, Nintendo probably see it as them getting a good deal as they haven't exactly made Microsoft all that much in return.......
jakeee Posted January 1, 2006 Posted January 1, 2006 Actually Nintendo didn't sell Rare to Microsoft. It just sold their shares and Microsoft happened to buy them. Before Rare went to Microsoft some of the workers quit and formed other companies like Free Radical.
Bowser57 Posted January 1, 2006 Posted January 1, 2006 Damn I've just poured some milk all over the floor, let's all have a cry!
Plain_Ole_Al Posted January 1, 2006 Author Posted January 1, 2006 Nah, I no longer emote over splashes of bovine excretions on the floor Just wondering why they did it, perhaps they could have had a Perfect Dark sequel as a launch title for the Revolution?
Bren Posted January 1, 2006 Posted January 1, 2006 Hmm, if theyve sold the shares to microsoft, does this mean microsoft own rights to goldeneye, banjo and perfect dark (original) , coz i really want to download them thru me rev, even tho iv got 64, wil be handy havin em on rev
Plain_Ole_Al Posted January 1, 2006 Author Posted January 1, 2006 I'm not too sure what they can and can't do legally, but Rare did mention trying not to put too much Goldeneye (the game) content in Perfect Dark so as not to tread on licensing toes.
Fierce_LiNk Posted January 1, 2006 Posted January 1, 2006 Well, this is kinda an old subject. And i feel that the question has been answered. So, lets lay this dead dog to rest, eh? [Locked]
