Other than via an outside party, I can't see how you could get any information on Maddog that doesn't use your power (as I believe you have said it doesn't).

Dyson was the black and white pokemon charging up. He was roleblocked or something before he could do anything, but his target was blurry so he would have likely missed and got his new target.
