stuwii Posted July 1, 2010 Posted July 1, 2010 Well I just got a component wii cable and for some reason 480 i is infinitely better! 480P is full of jaggies when it should be the ultimate viewing mode! Whats wrong?
Cube Posted July 1, 2010 Posted July 1, 2010 480p has twice as many pixels as 480i. You need to go into the Wii menu and select the 480p option.
stuwii Posted July 1, 2010 Author Posted July 1, 2010 I have done that, and the 480p option looks worse than 60hz
Mr_Odwin Posted July 1, 2010 Posted July 1, 2010 Your composite image will look more blurry, and the component image will look sharper. It is the better image but you may interpret it as being jaggier, when it is actually the more accurate. Sounds like your eyes prefer blurry.
Dyson Posted July 1, 2010 Posted July 1, 2010 480P is full of jaggies when it should be the ultimate viewing mode! Whats wrong? It's not 1080p.
Emasher Posted July 1, 2010 Posted July 1, 2010 If you're viewing 720x480 (480p) on an HDTV, its going to be jagged regardless. If you don't want jaggies, your best bet is to build a gaming PC, turn AA all the way up, and set the resolution to the native resolution of your TV. IMHO, slightly jagged is better than blurry. Not to mention, you're probably going to get video lag because of your TV trying to de-interlace the picture. This makes games like Guitar Hero/Rock Band, and most games that require to you to react to things happening on screen reasonably fast much more difficult to play.
