markderoos Posted June 29, 2009 Posted June 29, 2009 Very strange that my local MediaMarkt always has those games in stock that are somewhat rare to find. Like this and Blastworks, Little King's Story, Balance Challenge. Bad thing is the prices are far higher than in the UK...
Ganepark32 Posted June 29, 2009 Posted June 29, 2009 Yay! Got this today through the post. Haven't seen it anywhere in shops so glad I got sent a free copy. :p Will play it later this evening if I can fit it in amongst all of the other things to play (Boom Blox Bash Party, Another Code: R)
K-project Posted July 25, 2009 Posted July 25, 2009 Thought I'd pop it up here that this is now £10 on Play.com. Pretty good price for what looks like a very original title (OK, with a bit stolen from Katamari). If you already have the game, please let me know what you think of it. I've just ordered it!
RedShell Posted August 1, 2009 Posted August 1, 2009 I have a copy of this on the way now from Play.com, couldn't resist for a tenner.
dazzybee Posted August 1, 2009 Posted August 1, 2009 Yeah, I wouldn't mind buying it but would like some opinions
Ganepark32 Posted August 1, 2009 Posted August 1, 2009 I've played and finished it. I've written a review but it's not up on the site I write for. I've copy-and-pasted my summation on it below: "The Munchables is another perfect example of Namco Bandai’s continuing ingenuity and strong support for the Wii. It’s a unique concept done to a high standard, utilising some good graphics, sound and gameplay. It has its shortcomings, such as being quite short and the slow down when things get hectic on screen, but given the game’s budget retail price, these are small problems that can easily be overlooked for what is a truly enjoyable title from start to finish." I gave it a 7.7. It's a good game, but you'll get through it easily and quickly, think I did it in something like 3 hours or just a little over. There are somethings to come back for after finishing it however the main thing is a replay of all levels in a mirrored mode which adds nothing new really. You get rankings on all levels so I suppose you could come back to beat them but you'll always get an A or S ranking on first play so there's not much point other than to unlock items for dressing up your munchables. But for a tenner, you can't go wrong and it is enjoyable.
RedShell Posted August 6, 2009 Posted August 6, 2009 Have played through the first few stages of this now, based on what I've experienced so far I'd say Ganepark32's summary seems spot-on. A nice, colourful and fun game, but nothing out of this world either. Well worth it on the cheap though. I love how your character does a poo on the Great Elder at the end of each stage! You won't see that in any other Wii game, that's for sure.
Ganepark32 Posted August 6, 2009 Posted August 6, 2009 ^ yeh, rather strange that when he poos up all the orbs onto the Elder thing. Not sure why it was done like that but it fits in with the rather tongue and cheek attitude of the game.
