Emasher Posted February 23, 2009 Posted February 23, 2009 Well, my wacom mouse isn't working that well, so I'm thinking I might just buy a gaming mouse. It needs to have at least 4 buttons and probably be under $75 cnd. I don't want a wireless one. If it has any sort of special features or anything, it needs to be one that has a Mac driver, but I just want a basic gaming mouse.
McPhee Posted February 23, 2009 Posted February 23, 2009 I'm using a Logitech G5 and i've got no complaints about it at all, close to perfection
Emasher Posted February 23, 2009 Author Posted February 23, 2009 The G5 isn't mac compatible unfortunately.
McPhee Posted February 24, 2009 Posted February 24, 2009 They all use standard mouse drivers though surely? It's just the Logitech software that isn't Mac compatable, and that isn't needed or all that usefull. EDIT: Quick google seems to suggest it does work; http://forums.macrumors.com/showthread.php?t=205473
Pancake Posted February 24, 2009 Posted February 24, 2009 I just bought a new Logitech MX518 and it seems really good so far. No problems at all. It has 3 smaller buttons and 2 larger side ones.
Konfucius Posted February 24, 2009 Posted February 24, 2009 I have a Logitech G5 and a MX518. Both are great for gaming, the MX518 uses an optical sensor and the G5 a laser. They are both pretty much equal in performance though. I even feel that the MX518 controls a bit smoother however the G5 offers better customization options.
RoadKill Posted February 25, 2009 Posted February 25, 2009 The G5 isn't mac compatible unfortunately. All USB mice will work the same on any platform, you may just not be able to use the software that lets you customise buttons. Personally I have an MX518 and I'd recommend it any day
Guest Jordan Posted February 25, 2009 Posted February 25, 2009 I used to have an Mx512 that was awesome, only downside was that it had an accylic finish... and got shit all over it. Not literally, but it got really dirty and my hands are pretty clean. These days i have an MX1000 and I honestly prefer it.

Personally I have an MX518 and I'd recommend it any day Customizing buttons is something I'm going to need though. Anyway, thanks for the advice everyone. I've decided to go with the Razer DeathAdder, Mac Version. After searching around a bit, most sites are saying its the best gaming mouse for OS X (and possibly the only one with full support for it).
Blue_Ninja0 Posted March 14, 2009 Posted March 14, 2009 Logitech G5 here. It would be perfect if not for the wheel. But the new version (the blue ones) of G5 has that problem solved so don't worry. It may be a bit expensive though.
