purplehay Posted February 2, 2009 Posted February 2, 2009 Hello folks Unfortunatly my 2 year old child has placed a coin into the wii drive. It is now lodged in there and no disks can be inserted. Ive only owned the wii for two months but Im sure my warrantee would proberbly not cover this. Does anyone know a place I can send it to to be fixed? I really need your help..
Tellyn Posted February 2, 2009 Posted February 2, 2009 A console repair shop should be able to remove that by opening it up, but it would void your warranty... Enquire with Nintendo, they might be able to get it out.
Zechs Merquise Posted February 2, 2009 Posted February 2, 2009 Get the right screwdriver off eBay and have a look yourself.
D_prOdigy Posted February 2, 2009 Posted February 2, 2009 Nintendo will cover it. Say what you will but their customer services are second to none. Call them before you try anything else.
nekunando Posted February 2, 2009 Posted February 2, 2009 ..this reminds me of the story where someone tried to buy Wii Points by inserting their Credit Card into the slot Anyway, definitely get in contact with Nintendo first of all before you even consider opening up your console! I'm sure whatever happens you'll get the coin out and everything will be fine
Cube Posted February 2, 2009 Posted February 2, 2009 Some warranties cover accidental damage. Which includes damage done by kids.

Chris the great Posted February 2, 2009 Posted February 2, 2009 ..this reminds me of the story where someone tried to buy Wii Points by inserting their Credit Card into the slot that would actualy be an ace way to do it.
david.dakota Posted February 2, 2009 Posted February 2, 2009 Call Nintendo Customer Service, they'll send out a postage label in include costs, you take it to your local Post Office. Nintendo tech team will then look at it- and if they are going to charge you they'll write out to you BEFORE any work is done and the charges raised. You have the choice of refusing the work. I'm told by a Nintendo Advisor that most work will be done free of charge- although they'll charge for obvious negligence. I seem to recall the advisor saying they've repaired a dog chewed DS out of warranty, FOC. Don't listen to anyone who says 'do it yourself'. Send it to Nintendo.
Tellyn Posted February 2, 2009 Posted February 2, 2009 use a knife to get it out? Damn it, I should have thought of that first!
nekunando Posted February 2, 2009 Posted February 2, 2009 Wii Don't Accept Credit Cards, Discs only Cross an oblivious mother with a story that's likely to be true and you've got a Wii with 3 credit cards stuck inside it. According to a NeoGAF member, his neighbours recently purchased their kids a Wii for Christmas and asked what games they should consider picking up for the youngsters. He mentions a few retail titles and a handful of WiiWare, telling her she needed to "put in her credit card when prompted on screen and get the amount of points she wanted". Whilst most, if not 99.9% of people would put in their details on screen it looks like she inserted not one, not two, but three cards into the glowing blue disc slot. She's now demanding repair costs. "Will somebody please save the children?" Cubed3 There is the story.. if anyone was interested
Tellyn Posted February 2, 2009 Posted February 2, 2009 To be fair it's a good idea, having a slot that allows you to swipe your credit card. It could be opened up to prepaid cards too, save games, stuff like the e-Reader tried to achieve.
