Eddage Posted October 24, 2008 Posted October 24, 2008 So can you play import games with this homebrew channel installed?
Shino Posted October 24, 2008 Posted October 24, 2008 Can't you run things directly from Homebrew channel without installing the apps?
Hellfire Posted October 24, 2008 Posted October 24, 2008 The homebrew channel is for launching homebrew apps, you need another app to "freeload", you can install them before the update, but you can't install them after, it just gives an error. So, if you delete it you won't be able to install it for now. I know this discussion sounds shady, but it's legal :P
ThePigMarcher Posted October 24, 2008 Posted October 24, 2008 You can safely update if you already have homebrew and the freeloading thingy installed, it won't erase it. I never had the homebrew installed (and installing it now is no longer an option) and was relying purely on the Freeloader , so I am now at the mercy of Datel honouring their original promise , which I don't hold out much hope for , would only be a temporary solution anyway.

Freeloader wasn't working since the first 3.3, were you on 3.2?
Emasher Posted October 25, 2008 Posted October 25, 2008 I have a feeling the creators of the homebrew channel are already working on a work around.
Tellyn Posted October 25, 2008 Posted October 25, 2008 And here we go. http://wiibrew.org/wiki/Wii_Shop_and_IOS51_installer It allows you to use the Shop Channel without updating the firmware.
ThePigMarcher Posted October 27, 2008 Posted October 27, 2008 For those that have had their Freeloader's blocked by the backdoor update, it doesn't look like Code Junkies are rushing to do anything about it , or even address the fact that the thing was previously blocked , judging by an email I have just received from them. Dear xxxxxxxx, Thank you for your recent enquiry unfortunately at this early stage we are not sure when, if ever, we will be able to release a new version of Freeloader that will run on consoles that have been updated with the v3.3 firmware. No refund is or exchange is available (outside of the terms and conditions of the returns policy offered by your point of purchase) since the Freeloader continues to be fully compatible with Wii firmware 3.2 and below. Regards, [/END] Looks like an eager watch on the homebrew scene , just in case they can come up with something.
Mokong Posted October 27, 2008 Posted October 27, 2008 I was just looking round... i think it's fixed http://hbc.hackmii.com/faq/ look down to 3rd last question
