Noku Posted September 2, 2008 Posted September 2, 2008 Yo dudes and dudettes! Got an exam tomorrow on Business Economics, and can't seem to find the answer to the following question: "Why is factor analysis applied on strategic variables before cluster analysis?" Any help?
MadDog Posted September 2, 2008 Posted September 2, 2008 Not sure what im looking for but a simple search on teh google found this?? http://ro.uow.edu.au/cgi/viewcontent.cgi?article=1286&context=commpapers
Noku Posted September 2, 2008 Author Posted September 2, 2008 Thanks dude, but that article is beyond my grasp. I only take business ec because it's on the curriculum (part of the "prepare our Be-Bachelors as best as possible for their future job-life"-thing). Was kinda hoping for someone to explain it to me as if they would an economics n00b.
Noku Posted September 2, 2008 Author Posted September 2, 2008 When in doubt, whip it out. Duly noted! Will try to remember that if all else fails when the question appears on the exam tomorrow
Fresh Posted September 2, 2008 Posted September 2, 2008 My degree is BA Business Economics.... I have no idea what your on about. Can I interest you in a cocktail?
Noku Posted September 2, 2008 Author Posted September 2, 2008 My degree is BA Business Economics.... I have no idea what your on about. Can I interest you in a cocktail? Sucks to be me then... I'll take that cocktail! It's all situated in the Strategic Analysis-department, if that helps... I have no idea how to translate these concepts into English, but does Intra-Industrybranch-analysis ring a bell?
Fresh Posted September 2, 2008 Posted September 2, 2008 Sorry mate, not really sure what your on about. I'm sure, as you say, we probably have a different name and understanding for what your trying to say in England.
Kirkatronics Posted September 2, 2008 Posted September 2, 2008 Sucks to be me then... I'll take that cocktail! It's all situated in the Strategic Analysis-department, if that helps... I have no idea how to translate these concepts into English, but does Intra-Industrybranch-analysis ring a bell? could it be to do with researching the competition?
Noku Posted September 2, 2008 Author Posted September 2, 2008 Do the terms mean anything to you when paired with the word "marketing"? Ie, why would one want to perform factor analysis before cluster analysis in marketing? could it be to do with researching the competition? Indeed it does! Found some Wiki's, but they're Swahili to me... Cluster Analysis: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cluster_analysis_(in_marketing) Factor Analysis: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Factor_analysis#Factor_analysis_in_marketing Thanks for the help so far guys, really appreciated!
Fresh Posted September 2, 2008 Posted September 2, 2008 It doesn't mean anything to me, I've never even heard of "Cluster Analysis" I assume it's a marketing method I have probably learnt under another name. This long summer has turned my brain into mush.
Kirkatronics Posted September 2, 2008 Posted September 2, 2008 Do the terms mean anything to you when paired with the word "marketing"? Ie, why would one want to perform factor analysis before cluster analysis in marketing? Indeed it does! YAY! Do i win a prize? http://www.gwpcacena.org/en/cacena.htm ^ That might help, ive not read it. http://www.web-articles.info/e/a/title/Business-strategy-evaluation/ ^Thats a long shot, but it could be. Im assuming its comparing patterns of other companies as a whole.
Noku Posted September 2, 2008 Author Posted September 2, 2008 You both get a prize for trying to help me, rest assured What prize, well, that's up to you to decide! But I'm afraid that your links didn't quite prove as helpful as I'd hoped them to be (raising a lot more questions and eyebrows than this boy can take). My faith will have to lay in him not asking the question then ^^ Fine enough. I'll be sure to blabber on about nonsensical economical stuffs should he ask it though.
