MATtheHAT Posted April 28, 2009 Posted April 28, 2009 I think you need to stop comparing games with Cod. People on the Nintendo boards do it with golden eye but I think you should just treat each FPS title as a different game. Cod isn't like Killzone, or Resistance. I have respect for all three, I just like Resistance the most. The only thing is with resistance is that I haven't played it that much recently (apart from the odd hour) it's niche and not many people enjoy the more arcadey feel. Thats because GoldenEye is the standard that all FPS's are judged against. There is a reason for that, GE was/is an incredible game. I take your point about each game being treated seperate, but we also need a comparison against a similar title to give us a reference and a standard. Besides, I was not even comparing the two, I was merely stating my preferred FPS.:p
Deathjam Posted April 28, 2009 Posted April 28, 2009 Killzone Online Championships Announced! Shame that only US players are eligible as the helghan suits were up for grabs (worth $8,000) as well as DLC codes and some other stuff I just ignored. I know if we did enter, we would have been owned, especially as alot of us like myself are out of practice, but damn, would have been fun. Ah well, the DLC will get me back into the swing of Killzone.
The Lillster Posted April 29, 2009 Posted April 29, 2009 Sounds nice. Hope we get one too. I need a new tv lol. I just cant play on a 24" in the living room. Too small and too far away. I was wandering why you havn't been on much lately. What happened to your HD Tv?
dwarf Posted April 30, 2009 Posted April 30, 2009 I gave in and bought it because I had just enough already on the account. Still was a bit of a rip if I'm being honest.
Cookyman Posted April 30, 2009 Posted April 30, 2009 Opinions and views of the DLC maps would be appreciated fellas!
dwarf Posted April 30, 2009 Posted April 30, 2009 (edited) Ok sure mine is installing as I type. Train level is interesting, although sometimes too much is going on I think. My team got shepharded into our end of the train at the end and was almost impossible to get out which is why I used tactician. Still won 4-3. Vetka Cruiser is one of the best maps in the game I think. Nice visually and fun to play. Edited April 30, 2009 by dwarf
LegoMan1031 Posted April 30, 2009 Posted April 30, 2009 I ent been on killzone in ages! Buying this new map pack might give me reason to go on it again!!!

dwarf Posted April 30, 2009 Posted April 30, 2009 Well I had just enough funds and thought everyone else would be getting it.
dwarf Posted May 1, 2009 Posted May 1, 2009 Yeah although to be fair when I entered the game I did pop you and your team mate with headshots just after you jumped across the train Tried to get the manned turret in use so I could mow down everyone but only got you and someone else with it. Basically it's fun killing you Choze.

dwarf Posted May 6, 2009 Posted May 6, 2009 Hmm just testing to see if it works. Ah it does. Any way of filling the squares?
tapedeck Posted May 7, 2009 Posted May 7, 2009 (edited) OK So I finally played this on the single player and got to Radec...he's at the other end of some massive room in his palace, I'm on the second floor and he keeps going invisible. Picked up sniper rifle, hit him a few times (I think!) and nowt's happening. Any tips?! Am I meant to forget him and focus on his men? Am I meant to charge at him?! Edited May 7, 2009 by tapedeck
dwarf Posted May 7, 2009 Posted May 7, 2009 Erm, If you're at the part when you go upstairs for the first time you basically have to destroy all the waves of enemies inlcuding th people with rofl launchers, eventually you'll fight the man himself.

AHHHHH I see Cheers. Hate it when the 'boss' is there and you can shoot him but you have to do his waves of guys first. Meh. Realism
dwarf Posted May 7, 2009 Posted May 7, 2009 Yeah but to be fair he does take quite a lot of lead. Well he did when I faced him on hard mode.
dwarf Posted May 7, 2009 Posted May 7, 2009 Shame the campaign was boring. Just annoying when enemies take cover too often when you hit them a couple of times. Realistic but tedious. Plus I didn't feel that any of it was that special. As I was playing I just felt like I was wasting time when I could be online.
dwarf Posted May 7, 2009 Posted May 7, 2009 God why don't you admit the campaign was bad? I enjoyed the campaign in Resistance because it was much faster paced and you got what you expected. Plus the online mode is quality, just doesn't have the userbase it used to hold. You need some teaching in good games man, you don't like HL for christs sake!
flameboy Posted May 7, 2009 Posted May 7, 2009 I preferred KZ2 single player in terms of mechanics, level pacing etc...but R2 in terms of story as I felt more invested in it.
dwarf Posted May 7, 2009 Posted May 7, 2009 I wasn't sure there was a story in KZ. I just didn't find the KZ campaign fun. For me it was too slow, there weren't many enemy varieties. (The chaingun people that you had to shoot their backpack for were laughable) KZ just felt like a sequence of Helghast defending buildings and stuff which got boring fast. I wanted to enjoy it. I think the best part of it all was the bolt-gun thing that launched enemies backwards. That was awesome! Yet it only appeared once, maybe twice in the game. They should feature it as a perk or something in the online mode.
dwarf Posted May 7, 2009 Posted May 7, 2009 Well they can't all be described like that, Resistance 2 you werent just aiming and shooting with a rifle, you actually had enemies that streamed towards you, big (albeit presentational) bosses and more sort of robot enemies which took a few missiles to take down. That's why I mentioned that the gun should be a perk or something. Obviously it wouldn't work if anyone could use it.
tapedeck Posted May 7, 2009 Posted May 7, 2009 I really enjoyed the bit where you had to face off against that flying robot on the rooftop, the bit where the guy dies after the hostage scenario, the bit where Radec gets on the cruiser and the bit after that where you get that massive robot to control and then the nuke scene. I liked all of those bits yet I can't really remember anyone's names other than rico, sev...should have been more cut-scenes throughout the missions. Other than that I've enjoyed it
dwarf Posted May 7, 2009 Posted May 7, 2009 The mech bit was too easy really, as was the ATAC thing. I only really knew that I was Sev. I heard Rico and other names a lot but could never match them to the respective bodies. I think the bit I enjoyed most was the bolt gun section in Pyrrus simply because it was slightly different and fun above anything. The sniping section sucked though.
dwarf Posted May 7, 2009 Posted May 7, 2009 I just don't like snipers. The only time I use them is when there is a smug cock that think's he is good by camping, so if they kill me I change to scout, put a bullet through their skull and then carry on doing my thing.
