Caris Posted January 22, 2008 Posted January 22, 2008 There is also a Soundblaster X-Fi Pro Gamer soundcard which didn't fit in the screen grab.
DCK Posted January 22, 2008 Posted January 22, 2008 That's fine, but you might want to wait a week for Intel Penryn Core 2 Duos? They're coming out really soon now, and they supposedly clock over to above 4 GHz on just air cooling. That's something I'd wait for at any rate. Also, as for the sound card, I heard the Asus Xonar D2 provides the same performance as an X-Fi for less money, but you might want to Google that.
Sanchez Posted January 22, 2008 Posted January 22, 2008 Western Digitals and Samsungs are quieter than Seagates if that's an issue for you.
Caris Posted January 22, 2008 Author Posted January 22, 2008 I'm more worried about the CPU, Mobo and Memory being sweet with each other. Btw did you get my Email?
McPhee Posted January 22, 2008 Posted January 22, 2008 Wait for the new Intel CPUs, there's a better one than the E6750 selling for less/the same Also, what case is this going in? Why the P5E-VM? You're paying for a premium for the powerful DX10 integrated graphics and then disabling them to add a GTS...
Guest Stefkov Posted January 22, 2008 Posted January 22, 2008 New CPUs are taking their sweet time to get good stocks on sites. scan, overclockers have it down as preorder and ebuyer are getting like 10 in each day. They won't get a good supply until end of Feb, thats what a post says in the ebuyer forums.
Caris Posted January 23, 2008 Author Posted January 23, 2008 Becuase it's a mATX case and i wan't cooper heatsinks on my motherboard. Temps are much lower than Alu ones.
McPhee Posted January 23, 2008 Posted January 23, 2008 Becuase it's a mATX case and i wan't cooper heatsink on my motherboard. Temps are much lower than Alu ones. That's what i'd guessed. Maybe a better CPU cooler as well then to balance it all out?
Caris Posted January 23, 2008 Author Posted January 23, 2008 The Freezer 7 with Artic Silver 5 paste will have the temps ice cold
McPhee Posted January 23, 2008 Posted January 23, 2008 It depends how quiet you want you're system to be. To make it quieter you have to lower the speed of the fans, and that's when the Freezer 7 begins to fall behind. If you find the stock Intel fan ok for noise then the Freezer 7 is a great cooler. If you think it's too noisy then you won't like the Freezer 7, which is actually slightly louder. It might be worth getting the cooler after you build, as it's quite subjective.
Caris Posted January 23, 2008 Author Posted January 23, 2008 I've been using it for years, i never hear it and it always keeps my CPU mid 30's.
Caris Posted January 23, 2008 Author Posted January 23, 2008 wtf? stfu ffs Just placed the order, here's what i went with. What you think?
McPhee Posted January 23, 2008 Posted January 23, 2008 Looks grand! Hopefully this one doesn't fuck up like the last one
Caris Posted January 23, 2008 Author Posted January 23, 2008 Yeah, i'm scared to build it! At least i know it wasn't my fault last time :P
