Tales
A new ad show up every 30 seconds so I desperatly need a pop-up blocker. Any suggestions? I must have a torrent link or the name to the program as my Internet connections is too bad to download stuff from places like download.com. Emasher
Apple's safari browser has a great pop-up blocker. Though you probably don't want to change browsers.
Caris
Sounds more like Spyware to me.

Tales
May be. Any anti spyware programs out there then? I know I can look for them myself, but last time I did that, it probably resulted in this thread, if you guessed correctly :P I did install some program earlier I wasn't totally sure about it. It's uninstalled but I guess that doesn't solve the problem.
Caris
Just search for Ad-aware, update it then run it.
Tales
Ran ad-aware normally and in safe mode and I still have ads showing up from time to time.
Charlie
Try the built-in Windows thing to search for spyware too.
Tales
Norton? It keeps finding the same tracking cookie no matter how many times I delete it.

Tales
It found something, but refuses to delete it because only an administrator can do it. But my account does have administrator status. I'll see what can do about it tomorrow.
Shorty
Norton? It keeps finding the same tracking cookie no matter how many times I delete it. Norton is Norton, not Windows. Norton is a big cause of problems itself in my experience. Use Windows' own firewall, have it turned on, get some virus blocking software like AVG Free and the aforementioned Adaware. Although a tracking cookie is not enough to cause pop-ups afaik. You probably installed something stupid like an unneeded browser toolbar or some desktop buddy or smiley pack or anything like that, go through your add/remove programs in control panel and get rid of all the rubbish. Get ccleaner from http://www.ccleaner.com/ and run that, ticking all the boxes relating to Windows and your web browser. If you have pop-ups coming the way you describe, you don't need a pop-up blocker. It's more than that, and just blocking them is no good. Plus most so-called pop-up blockers are just spyware themselves. Any decent modern browser blocks pop-ups by default. You should be using Internet Explorer 7, Firefox or Opera to browse the net, there's no reason to use anything less, latest versions.
Ten10
I use I.E 6 still because I don't find I.E 7 nearly as intuitive. It took me ages to find out how to get your history to come up on that thing. So I have a popup blocker for I.E 6 otherwise I use firefox
Tales
Window's firewall blocks everything I don't allow, the built in pop-up blocker blocks everything I don't allow to appear and I ran ccleaner and pop-ups still appear. The only difference is that the pop-ups never load the page.
