ReZourceman Posted December 2, 2007 Posted December 2, 2007 Can anyone give me step by step instructions. On Windows media on the configure sharing bit, the box is empty, but I understand 360 should be listed in there?
Shorty Posted December 2, 2007 Posted December 2, 2007 What version of Windows are you using? You might find an explanation at: http://www.xbox.com/en-GB/search.aspx?keyword=media+sharing&x=0&y=0

Edit;; Damn, not working. When trying to connect the two to each other my PC cant locate the 360 for some reason. "Setup is unable to contact 360"
martinist Posted December 10, 2007 Posted December 10, 2007 Are you using a PC with Windows Media Center installed? i know its a stupid question.
gaggle64 Posted December 10, 2007 Posted December 10, 2007 What kind of router do you have? Some older routers (mine, for example) don't have enough ports to facilitate PC/360 file sharing.

On Windows media on the configure sharing bit, the box is empty, but I understand 360 should be listed in there? Are you using a Wireless Internet Connection, if you are then Bridge the Connection to the 360 via the Modem using the Ethernet Cable provided with the console. Thats what i done and all is good.
ReZourceman Posted December 10, 2007 Author Posted December 10, 2007 Thanks for the help, I actually sorted it out yesterday though. Not able to watch big files Ie Heroes for some reason though.
McPhee Posted December 11, 2007 Posted December 11, 2007 Probably too slow a connection, unless it's Wired or Wireless N (yours is probably Wireless G)
ReZourceman Posted December 11, 2007 Author Posted December 11, 2007 Yeah, too slow. Dunno what a wireless G or N are though.
McPhee Posted December 11, 2007 Posted December 11, 2007 Different wireless speeds, theres N, G, A and B. N is the fastest, it's brand new and expensive. G is the mainstream one, fast enough to support decent file transfers over a reasonable area. A and B hark back to a time before Wireless hit the mainstream and now have they're own specialist applications. Basically, for HD video it's N or Wired.
ReZourceman Posted December 11, 2007 Author Posted December 11, 2007 Ah I see. Lol. Wait...wired. How would I do that? Is it the same wire that comes in the 360? I gave that one to my friend. No biggy.
martinist Posted December 11, 2007 Posted December 11, 2007 any old eithernet cable will do, just hook one end up to the 360 and the other to the router and it should connect fine.
