CoolFunkMan Posted September 8, 2007 Posted September 8, 2007 "Midway is extremely excited to release Unreal Tournament 3 on the PLAYSTATION 3 system and PC," said Steve Allison, chief marketing officer, Midway. "We expect Unreal Tournament 3 to set the bar for what a first-person shooter and next generation game can truly be." "We feel very confident that Unreal Tournament 3 will continue to deliver on Epic's promise to gamers to develop only the highest quality titles using our cutting-edge Unreal Engine 3 technology," said Mark Rein, vice president and co-founder, Epic Games. "The game takes full advantage of the power of the PLAYSTATION 3 system, and Unreal Tournament 3 will for the first time allow users to create robust user created content, known as "mods", on the PC version and play them on the PLAYSTATION 3 system. We're extremely excited about this and we feel this will bring a level of creativity, innovation and replayability not previously seen on home consoles." "We expect Unreal Tournament 3 to be one of the most innovative and defining titles of this next generation," said Jack Tretton, president and CEO, Sony Computer Entertainment America. "We are extremely pleased that gamers will only be able to experience Unreal Tournament 3 on the PLAYSTATION 3 system later this year." About Unreal Tournament 3 Unreal Tournament 3 marks the return of the world's premiere first-person shooter to the PC, and its debut on the PLAYSTATION 3 system. Unreal Tournament 3 unleashes the full power of Unreal Engine 3, taking graphics, gameplay, and challenge to a whole new level. Players engage in intense and hyper-real battles with other human players online, or against Unreal artificial intelligence that sets the industry standard. With the most powerful futuristic weapons and vehicles available, this is FPS action at its best! http://www.unrealtournament3.com I figured it was about time this game got it's own thread. Who else is looking forward to this one? I can't wait for this myself! I've been following this game since it was first announced. Now, finally, it has the release date of November on PC/PS3. Everything about this seems awesome - the graphics, level design, vehicles, weapons. Plus single player mode, with a proper plot and branching storyline, sounds interesting. What I really like about this though, is the fact that it feels more like the original UT. I liked UT2003/04, but, imo, it missed that classic feel that the original had. Even the soundtrack to this (that can be heard on the official site) is mainly comprised of remixes/remakes of old UT tracks! Instant nostalgia. November couldn't come soon enough...
Bluejay Posted September 8, 2007 Posted September 8, 2007 When does the 360 get it? My PC fails. Game looks intense though
CoolFunkMan Posted September 8, 2007 Author Posted September 8, 2007 When does the 360 get it? My PC fails. Game looks intense though There's, unfortunately, no official announcement of a 360 version... yet. It is on the cards though I think, just that Midway/Epic have a contract with Sony to keep it PS3 exclusive for a few months. ¬¬ My PC should be able to run it fine, so that's all good for me. I feel sorry for 360 owners that can't play it for a while though. :/
Caris Posted September 8, 2007 Posted September 8, 2007 I'm easy on this, should be a really good game but at the end of the day we have Halo3 and COD4 this year which i'm more looking forward to.
Domstercool Posted September 8, 2007 Posted September 8, 2007 Well I think Epic are delaying the 360 version because of the whole custom download content from players. The PS3 and PC versions have it. Also I think I read somewhere, kotaku I think about Rein prasing the space on Blu-Ray, so they will be more maps on the PS3 than 360.
McPhee Posted September 8, 2007 Posted September 8, 2007 This is what i bought my new PC for! Mods are one of the best bits about the UT series and there was no way i was going to miss out on them! Sure, mods might come to the 360 version, but so far it looks very unlikely. Microsoft don't want them on there! (think it's something to do with people hacking the 360 tbh) Anyhow, i really, really can't wait for this game! UT2004 is my favourite game ever! Just hope my PC can play it well, if not then come February i'll be changing the graphics card + procsessor (AMD Phenom + 8800GTS probably)
Domstercool Posted September 8, 2007 Posted September 8, 2007 I'm also getting it for the PC. Unreal Tournament to me is just a PC game through and through. It should scale pretty well on systems really. I mean I don't have a beast but I think it should run decent on it.
CoolFunkMan Posted September 12, 2007 Author Posted September 12, 2007 News update... http://xbox360.qj.net/UT3-s-PS3-exclusivity-confirmed-playable-demo-coming-to-TGS-2007/pg/49/aid/102232 And here's a quick rundown of the article for you lazy buggers. - The game could suffer more delays, no specific release date - Epic still trying for a November release - PS3 and PC versions still coming out first, a few months before the 360 version - UT3 will be playable at TGS in October
Choze Posted September 14, 2007 Posted September 14, 2007 For console gamers UT3 on PS3 will feature USB Mouse and Keyboard support. As well as free Mod support. plus its out same time as the pc version. PC UT3 will probably still look nicer on max settings for powerful pc's.
azy Posted September 21, 2007 Posted September 21, 2007 USB mouse & keyboard for the PS3? Does the 360 have any support like this for any of its current games? This is the first time I am jealous of the PS3 as a 360 owner since I was a big fan of the original UT back in the day. Also, this is a longshot, but Fresh - did you used have a handle called LOLMAN in the original UT? As I recall he was from Leicester (or Lesta like he would say).
McPhee Posted September 22, 2007 Posted September 22, 2007 Theres no native keyboard and mouse support on 360 at all unfortunately. Not surprising though, Microsoft want to keep the PC and 360 as separate as possible
AshMat Posted September 22, 2007 Posted September 22, 2007 Specs for this? I imagine my new pc will run it.
Guest Jordan Posted September 23, 2007 Posted September 23, 2007 Specs aren't out yet, but i'd imagine it'd be something around this: CPU: Dual Core (of some sort) Ram: 1GB or more Graphics card: 7600 GT or above.
