Slaggis Posted August 13, 2007 Posted August 13, 2007 Are there any Notebooks or Macbooks that have a battery life of up to say 7-8 hours? I know most are around 4-5, I know the macbook is meant to be 5.5 but realistically is about 4 or so. Anyone know of any?
KKOB Posted August 13, 2007 Posted August 13, 2007 Why would you want a 8 hour battery life?! Seems a bit extreme.
Sanchez Posted August 13, 2007 Posted August 13, 2007 I think the new Toshiba Portege R500 might do 8 hours but toshiba are very vague about what the battery life is exactly. Actually, just checked again and Toshiba quote 8 hours on it, if only it had a decent graphics card, I imagine that's a big part of the power savings. EDIT: Fuck the graphics card, im going to get this laptop, it's fucking hot. http://uk.computers.toshiba-europe.com/cgi-bin/ToshibaCSG/jsp/seriesHomepage.do?service=UK&SERIES_ID=129898 Woah, the ebuyer page quotes 12 hours. http://www.ebuyer.com/customer/products/index.html?action=c2hvd19wcm9kdWN0X292ZXJ2aWV3&product_uid=131357&_LOC=UK
Slaggis Posted August 13, 2007 Author Posted August 13, 2007 Why would you want a 8 hour battery life?! Seems a bit extreme. That's a silly question. I need the longer battery life for many reasons. It means less charging, less hassle, I can get more work done when I'm out and do more battry intensive things for longer. I don't need to carry the power cable around everywhere. Thats why I won't me getting a Macbook or a couple of other notebooks I was looking at, due to the 4.5 hour at a stretch battery life. Slaggis Posted August 13, 2007 Author Posted August 13, 2007 A MacBook is a laptop. I meant notebook. But thanks for the help with the question I asked.
Jackster Posted August 13, 2007 Posted August 13, 2007 Dunno what Apple were smoking when they said that, but I usually only get around 3:30 hours on my Macbook C2D's battery :-( However, I get the feeling Intel's Speedstep is malfunctioning on my Macbook. Oh well.
Slaggis Posted August 13, 2007 Author Posted August 13, 2007 3.5 hours? It's not too bad. There are some powerful-ish laptops that only last 1.5 hours!
Guest Stefkov Posted August 14, 2007 Posted August 14, 2007 My Toshiba does about 2 hours at most.....lmao. That's why it's always plugged in.
McPhee Posted August 14, 2007 Posted August 14, 2007 When my laptop had a working battery and charging circuit () it did about an hour tops!
KKOB Posted August 14, 2007 Posted August 14, 2007 My MBP does about 3 hours with low brightness, which i'm happy with, plus the charger is really smaller, smaller now Apple have replaced it. The MB 'bricks' are tiny and cute
Guest Jordan Posted August 14, 2007 Posted August 14, 2007 On XP, i could get 3.5 hours of this laptop. On Vista, thanks to Aero i get 2 hours tops.
Demuwan Posted August 18, 2007 Posted August 18, 2007 I meant notebook. But thanks for the help with the question I asked. You make me laugh: peace:
