KKOB Posted August 10, 2007 Posted August 10, 2007 http://www.omega-sektor.com/ Awesome looking internet cafe/gaming cafe/LAN center nerd central-here's the blurb. Omega Sektor InterviewWe discover more about the UK's premier gaming venue, opening its doors in August. by Rob Burman, IGN UK UK, July 24, 2007 - LAN gaming has become something of a phenomenon. Previously confined to grotty internet cafes crammed with people playing Counter-Strike on a handful of low-spec PCs, the world of online gaming has now evolved into a professional sport. And like real-life sports played in spectacular stadiums, online gaming is set to get its very own high-tech arena when Omega Sektor opens in Birmingham this August. Indeed, Omega Sektor promises to be a shrine to LAN gaming and the flagship centre will be the biggest gaming venue in the UK. It will be packed with over 400 top-spec PCs, next-generation consoles and a library of 100 games, with visitors free to compete in low-key matches or get stuck into proper organised events. The venue will include a chill-out zone too, kitted out with MP3 players and hi-def TVs showing the latest films and trailers - perfect for anyone needing to give their trigger fingers a rest. Omega Sektor, located on Birmingham's Corporation Street, opens its doors on August 10 Interview HERE Sounds outright awesome, and the websites pretty cool. More details after launch when a few of us has had a look round. What do you all think? and what are you thoughts about this style of gaming establishment in the UK?

Mr.X Posted August 11, 2007 Posted August 11, 2007 Should be in Newcastle really, as everyone knows its the party capital of England.
KKOB Posted August 11, 2007 Author Posted August 11, 2007 Should be in Newcastle really, as everyone knows its the party capital of England. Think you got Newc confused with Manchester . . . Dreading to see how much this thing costs . . .
Charlie Posted August 11, 2007 Posted August 11, 2007 I've always thought of starting something like this (when I've graduated from uni). Seems like a very good idea. Loads of people will be interested in it. Good place for kids to hang out in the evenings in a relaxed atmosphere with lots of stuff to do. You could even expand into a nightclub/disco too, although I'm not sure how that would work as the people who would come to the games centre migth not be interested in that. You could have loads of organised events which would rake in cash and even open at midnight for the launches of new games etc.
Tom Posted August 11, 2007 Posted August 11, 2007 I have seen a few places like this in the past open and then go bust quickly. I can't really see how this one will buck the trend, but it would be nice if it did well.
Mr.X Posted August 12, 2007 Posted August 12, 2007 Think you got Newc confused with Manchester . . . Dreading to see how much this thing costs . . . Top party city in europe as voted by Europeans = party captial Party Capital = Newcastle. Sorry Takeo but Caris will agree with me...
