I dont mind members of the Batfamily getting a book each, its just Batman getting multiple ones. It should have whittled down to simply Batman or Batman & Robin for him, leave room in the 52 for other characters.

Precisely. It feels so gross.

Also, is the Samsung Galaxy 2 ad on CBR ruining anyone elses day?

yeah I saw that in Invincible, yes it is clearly a publicity stunt, Detective Comics will get renumbered when it hits #900 (in about 13 months time) but you can't argue about it getting people talking about comics, there has been more discussion in this thread about comics we haven't read yet than the ones we have in the last 2 weeks :)

although I did like him bashing himself in the previous panel where he referred to on time in '09 :)

Rez did you notice the artist from Dynamo 5 will be doing the new Supergirl?

Supergirl #1 by Michael Green, Mike Johnson and Mahmud A. Asrar

will definitely look to pick that up

I'm disappointed Secret Six looks to be finished, my favourite DC book, if you can 'acquire' it, try and find last weeks issue, technically the end of an arc but fairly self contained and pretty much covers everything that's great about the book

Action Comics #1

A new era of DC Comics begins as the longest-running monthly comic of all time releases its first issue #1 since 1938.

This September, New York Times bestselling writer Grant Morrison (ALL-STAR SUPERMAN) joins with sensational artist Rags Morales to bring you tales of The Man of Tomorrow unlike any you’ve ever read before in ACTION COMICS #1. This momentous first issue will set in motion the history of the DC Universe as Superman defends a world that doesn’t trust their first Super Hero.

The first Action Comics #1 is now the most sought-after comic book of all time. This September, one of comics’ most imaginative storytellers will make history again in Grant Morrison and Rags Morales’ ACTION COMICS #1.

Okay, Superman looks rad as fuck. I love it when heroes dress normally. *cough*Superboy*cough*

Edit: Ah, now gmac's image is working. It's on Bleeding cool anyways.

So now that we know the full 52 what are peoples final thoughts on the relaunch?

Im still excited for it as I think certain characters needed a mixup to make them interesting again. Being a big fan of continuity though I do think its a shame to see some characters regressing or being pushed out like Dick back to Nightwing or Stephanie removed as Batgirl.

Also while I always enjoy reading Geoff Johns stuff, having Green Lantern stuff pretty much staying the same (as far as we know) kind of stinks of favouritetism.

I still want to know whats gonna happen with certain characters we havent heard about yet. I mean whats gonna happen with Wally West for example.

N00b question, what's the difference between Superman and Action Comics?

They are basically just both Superman books, Action being where he first appeared.

Action Comics doesnt always have Superman in. It had a brilliant arc recently with Lex Luthor as the main character.

Posted

Cool. I'd like to read more Lex. His bit in Boy of Steel was probably the first time I've ever seen him be both properly cruel and justify himself. Was really ace. That book as a whole was ace.

Posted

RE; the relaunch.

I'm interested in whatever is the better/main Batman title, Batgirl, Action Comics, Wonder Woman and Justice League. That's probably it.

Posted

I just read IGN's top 25 Batman comics so I'm gonna grab me some of them before looking at others. Some of them sound absolutely awesome. Want to get;

Venom

Knightfall

A Death in the Family

Gotham by Gaslight

Blind Justice

Especially looking forward to Blind Justice. Bruce Wayne is so under used. I think it's why I like Beyond a lot, half of it is Bruce being a knob.

Posted

Oh whut. I didn't ever ever ever ever want to read a Supergirl comic. :(

Relaunch looks cool. Theres a few books I'm really interested in that I wasn't before, and more Green Lanternness. By one book. Which we knew was coming. But still.

Looking forward to it.

Don't know if anyone reads Judge Dredd here, but I haven't read any in ages, and got some Amazon vouchers for doing surveys and thought I'd pick this up.

$(KGrHqIOKosE3FKKKyswBN4B!)8Rjw~~0_12.JPG

There were others I wanted more, Judgement Day specifically, but my budget was only £7. This one is meant to be good anyway, covers how the Judges rose to power and all that in flashback running alongside a plot about the rediscovery of Dredds clone father.

yeah I don't understand why when they decide to go back to just one Batman that they then decide to have him on both Justice League teams

Posted

I'm ready for Batwoman and Animal Man too.

I'm gonna buy some of these in physical form I think. Especially Justice League, just to buy into/see how they handle digital shizz.

Which reminds me, I just finished The Dark Knight Returns today (Yeah, I know it took me an age). Superman is such a massive dick. I think that's when Superman is at his best, when the good guys are trying to stop him being a dick/tool/stupid (and beat the shit out of him in doing so).

Hopefully this reboot will ground Superman a little more. Make him a little less God-like.
