Happenstance Posted July 22, 2010 Posted July 22, 2010 Not suprisingly I found the first part of Spider-Man OMIT completely wank
Dan_Dare Posted July 22, 2010 Posted July 22, 2010 i didn't get it. I've not read ASM annual whatever it was they took those pages from so the entire structure of the book was lost on me. Not read OMD either so....yeah, major headache for me. First one with Marvel for ages.
ReZourceman Posted July 22, 2010 Posted July 22, 2010 Just read Grim Hunt Part 4. That was fucking awesome. I bet Paj will love what happens to Julia Carpenter
Paj! Posted July 22, 2010 Posted July 22, 2010 I'm gyrating in anticipation. She was always one of my favourites-for-no-reason. I've only EVER read her in Ms. Marvel and this arc. And yet I still prefer her to Jessica Drew. (Though I've barely read anything with her doing anything in it either so not really fair) Appreciate! Single Mother Superheroics! Invented the 'Venom' costume! An interesting take on the spider-powers!
Happenstance Posted July 22, 2010 Posted July 22, 2010 I always liked her, think it was because I first saw her in the 90s Iron man cartoon. Plus I have a thing for redheads.
Paj! Posted July 22, 2010 Posted July 22, 2010 Oh yeah! I loved her and Hawkeye being so main in that, of all people. * * I know they were in Force Works so it makes sense, but I didn't know that at the time.
ReZourceman Posted July 22, 2010 Posted July 22, 2010 OMIT was obviously shit. For some reason in the flash back bits I was reading his voice as being 90's Animated Spider-Man. Weird. But yeah. Basically pants, if a little bit interesting in parts. A bit. The opening panel of Mary Jane said it all really. And I'm upset that Spider-mans Other powers didn't re-emerge at the end of Grim Hunt. Really had a similar vibe to that story. Shame.
Happenstance Posted July 22, 2010 Posted July 22, 2010 Just read New Avengers #2, pretty good but I think Bendis needs to drop one of the books and let someone else take over. Theyre reading too similar with annoyingly timed quips etc.
ReZourceman Posted July 22, 2010 Posted July 22, 2010 I'd complete agree with that. Having half the roster the same doesn't help.
Happenstance Posted July 22, 2010 Posted July 22, 2010 Makes you wonder in Avengers #3: Spidey mentions that he wishes he went with Luke, possibly hinting at the fact that he doesnt stay with the New Avengers?
Dan_Dare Posted July 22, 2010 Posted July 22, 2010 Yeah I caught that. I think he's actually better off in Avengers.
Dante Posted July 22, 2010 Posted July 22, 2010 Suicide Squad is getting a video game that was confirmed by Geoff Johns at his SDCC panel.
Dan_Dare Posted July 23, 2010 Posted July 23, 2010 Loads being announced! From Marvel there's a new Mark Waid penned Captain America origin story. Like Iron Man: Extremis, it's bringing his awakening forward to modern times A new Power Man and Iron Fist ongoing, which features a new teenage Power Man rather than Luke Cage A new Iron Man/ Thor team up
gmac Posted July 23, 2010 Posted July 23, 2010 They've also announced an Ultimate Thor mini by Hickman and Pacheho and Nova will be taking over from Daredevil as the Man Without Fear after Shadowland
Paj! Posted July 23, 2010 Posted July 23, 2010 Yeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee- I love it. The visual review of everyone worth mentioning. Assessing who's great on Utopia, and who they need to remember hates them (Hi, Arcade).
Dante Posted July 23, 2010 Posted July 23, 2010 Grant Morrison's BATMAN INC. As revealed on the BATMAN panel at San Diego Comic-Con, writer Grant Morrison will be helming a new, ongoing Batman series: BATMAN INC., featuring art by the ultra-talented Yanick Paquette. What does the “INC.†stand for? How will this new series build upon the amazing stories Grant has crafted in the pages of BATMAN and BATMAN AND ROBIN? All will be revealed shortly on the BATMAN San Diego Comic-Con panel, as Grant shares a few details about the new series, talks about his overarching Batman story and teases BATMAN: THE RETURN, the issue that leads into the new ongoing. It’s not an understatement to say Grant’s vision for the Dark Knight and his world has been an epic, evolving and all-encompassing tale. One that has not only put Batman – both Bruce Wayne and Dick Grayson – through the ringer, but also redefined what the legend of the Batman means to those around him. With BATMAN INC., Grant Morrison inverts the expected and presents a huge element of the unexpected to the Batman mythos, presenting a Batman status quo that is both new and energizing while at the same time remarkably familiar. We caught up with BATMAN Group Editor Michael Marts for some thoughts on what’s to come. Mike? “Everything’s been leading to this. Bruce Wayne made his long journey home in THE RETURN OF BRUCE WAYNE. Then Gotham City’s protector came back in BATMAN: THE RETURN. Now comes BATMAN INC.–the next phase of the Dark Knight as only mastermind writer Grant Morrison could imagine it. Joined on art by Yanick Paquette, this brand-new monthly series starring Batman and an unexpected supporting cast is sure to shock and surprise!â€
Paj! Posted July 23, 2010 Posted July 23, 2010 (edited) I don't like Yanick Paqette, his art is very undefinitive/generic, and every female pose is OTT sexualised. At least in Bulletter. Oh wait, just realised he's the guy who did Ultimate X-Men during Kirkman's run. His art there was better, tbh. I wish Morrison would work only with true stunners though. I await another collaboration with Jae Lee. They did the succinctly great Fantastic Four: 1234 together. Edited July 23, 2010 by Paj!
Paj! Posted July 24, 2010 Posted July 24, 2010 --- Just bought; I love the design of the Morrison JLA deluxe editions. The font and layout bellow "classy" everytime you look at them. Not sure why, but from what I gather the Vol.2 is out of print? Cause it's ridiculously priced/unavailable normally on amazon.

ReZourceman Posted July 25, 2010 Posted July 25, 2010 FCO having not won an Eisner is a damn crime. --------- Chew issue 27 is being released between issue 18 and 19, and won't be in trade paper backs. Thats so lol and amazing. I've just read all the news, all sounds great.

ReZourceman Posted July 25, 2010 Posted July 25, 2010 FCO Plascencia. Seriously, he makes every panel look like an HD screen shot from an animated cartoon.
gmac Posted July 25, 2010 Posted July 25, 2010 Well he probably should have at least been nominated, but Dave Stewart's colouring has been every bit as good as FCO's, plus he's been involved in a shitload of good books
