Paj! Posted April 19, 2010 Posted April 19, 2010 Just read Brightest Day 0, that helped clarify the point of upcoming events.
Dante Posted April 19, 2010 Posted April 19, 2010 Hawkwoman and Hawkgirl has confusing past and brightest day# 0 fixes it. Shiera Hall, the hawkgirl that belonged to the JSA has had multiple lives and multiple incarnations, but she was never called Hawkwoman or Shayera. In her latest incarnation, she had Kendra's memories and body but Shiera's soul. Kendra died many years ago when she commited suicide. When Hawkgirl was resurrected in Blackest Night, it was now Shiera with all their previous incarnations (including Kendra's) memories.
Paj! Posted April 19, 2010 Posted April 19, 2010 So is this Kendra or Sheira's body? Or did Kendra always look like that? I thought she had short brown hair?
Dante Posted April 20, 2010 Posted April 20, 2010 So is this Kendra or Sheira's body? Or did Kendra always look like that? I thought she had short brown hair? Its Shiera Sanders with all her memories of her past lives. Kendra - Brown hair Shiera - Redhead DC made a confusing storyline in the past: Kendra Saunders killed herself. Shiera Sanders' soul enters Kendra's body. Kendra's soul returns to her own body as Shiera Sanders' soul leaves the body. Kendra Saunders is killed in blackest night. Shiera Sander is ressurected with all the memories of her past lives - Kendra Saunders,Chay-Ara,Shayera Hol,Shayera Thal Hol and Thanagar Thrasher
Paj! Posted April 20, 2010 Posted April 20, 2010 Right, thanks. I knew loosely the history of the Hawks, but not enough to be sure.
Dan_Dare Posted April 20, 2010 Posted April 20, 2010 I should catch up on Green Lantern. Not fussed about the wider DCU a great deal but I really liked what I read of GL and GLC. I was just put off by terrible scans which I've since replaced but there's alot to re-read.
Happenstance Posted April 20, 2010 Posted April 20, 2010 Im getting all the GL trades at the moment, just seems like a while since they last released one. Need to get Agent Orange next. Also planning on starting getting the John Byrne Man of Steel run, im pretty sure my local comic shop has the entire run in trade which is helpful as I havent been able to find it online.
gmac Posted April 20, 2010 Posted April 20, 2010 DC are notoriously bad for getting trades out, think secret origin was the last paper back out although Agent Orange is out in HC
Happenstance Posted April 20, 2010 Posted April 20, 2010 Yeah ive got Rebirth up to Secret Origin, ive seen Agent Orange and Rage of the Red Lanterns out in HC for months but still no trade, its really annoying.
gmac Posted April 20, 2010 Posted April 20, 2010 argh! http://www.bleedingcool.com/2010/04/19/no-new-comics-in-the-uk/ fucking ash cloud!
Dan_Dare Posted April 20, 2010 Posted April 20, 2010 Fuck! Begs the question: What's wrong with a PDF file? shipping all this way seems foolish when a printing option in Europe must be an option. Eugh. Not even sure I'm missing anything, though. TWD and vince aren't out right?
gmac Posted April 20, 2010 Posted April 20, 2010 nah they're not out this week the end of Ultimate Avengers first arc was due this week though, bah at least volume 2 will be bi-weekly (due to the whole palaver between Millar and Marvel over them stealing his idea)
Dan_Dare Posted April 20, 2010 Posted April 20, 2010 I'm bored of the Ultimate brand now. Red Skull was a nice idea but generally the 616 is so much more compelling now.
Happenstance Posted April 20, 2010 Posted April 20, 2010 Once Ultimate Spider-Man gets a new artist i'll be back to that, one of my favourite books evar
ReZourceman Posted April 20, 2010 Posted April 20, 2010 Invincible appears to be delayed. Which is surprising. Not. o______________0 Honestly, fuck my life today.
gmac Posted April 20, 2010 Posted April 20, 2010 well we'll see Thursday, Ryan has said that 71 was at the printers and should be out late April/early May. The reason he's fallen behind is Haunt
ReZourceman Posted April 20, 2010 Posted April 20, 2010 best COICVER Eevert!!!!!!! Jesus Christ, July 2010 is Marvels best month that I've ever witnessed. Theres millions of absolutely amazings out. Shit. Marvel is fucking sick this year.
chairdriver Posted April 20, 2010 Posted April 20, 2010 I just love how the Secret Avengers are literally all the "Fuck me, they're great/badass" ones. Black Widow? Of course.
Paj! Posted April 20, 2010 Posted April 20, 2010 It's all the people that when they enter a room, people are violently sick with fear and anticipation. They'd rather they just died then and there rather than wait and endure the possibility. I might read/will read. I'm so DC'd at the moment though. Though I'm technically only following current Marvel comics (unless you count catching up with Blackest Night).
Dan_Dare Posted April 20, 2010 Posted April 20, 2010 Nova just looks immense. I don't know anything about him but his costume is just incredible. Green Lantern whaaaaat?
gmac Posted April 20, 2010 Posted April 20, 2010 there's a lot of good stuff from DC at the moment, outside the main Batman and Green Lantern books. Detective Comics (Rucka's writing is awesome) and Secret Six are outstanding, Brave and the Bold can be really good as well.
Dante Posted April 21, 2010 Posted April 21, 2010 GREEN LANTERN 53 cover has some changes made to it. 2nd cover
ReZourceman Posted April 21, 2010 Posted April 21, 2010 Oh god so cool. I havn't even read Brightest Day 0 yet. May have to download it as not sure when I'll be getting to the comic shop. I love those covers. Sick.
Paj! Posted April 21, 2010 Posted April 21, 2010 That looks alright. Sometimes the animation styles they choose for the animatied movies really annoys me. Especially when they struck perfection with Bruce Timm's animated DCU in the first place (well...second. The 1998 updated style is the definitive one I suppose). -- Just finished all of All-Star Superman. Genuinely a stunning series, so concise yet so quintessentially Superman in all his silver-age glory. I just love Grant Morrison and Frank Quitely so much. It was actually a moving, intelligent, action-packed story, told of 12 issues (seems like more, so much happens!). I love. Considering I'm so ambivalent to Superman.
