gmac Posted March 2, 2010 Posted March 2, 2010 yeah I don't see the point in a "new" New Avengers, seems redundant
Dan_Dare Posted March 2, 2010 Posted March 2, 2010 yeah me too. It's pretty bankable IP though. There's an Avengers book 'missing' so far too. 4 books got canceled and only 3 have taken their place. Rumor has it that Gage will move from Avengers: The Initiative to a new book, Avengers Academy. Same idea but needs re-branding because The Initiative is clearly about to be shut down.
gmac Posted March 2, 2010 Posted March 2, 2010 Oh I understand the use of the Avengers brand, but they surely could have thought of a better name than New
ReZourceman Posted March 2, 2010 Posted March 2, 2010 Didn't Bendis even say in an interview the other day "Plus the New Avengers have been around for 7 years now. They're not "new" anymore" Or something along those lines.
Dan_Dare Posted March 2, 2010 Posted March 2, 2010 It should really be Marvel Knights or The Defenders. I do like that Avengers has been re-shaped in to a fully stocked 'house' like X-Men though. And personally, I find it a much more compelling one.
Mundi Posted March 2, 2010 Posted March 2, 2010 http://forums.millarworld.tv/index.php?showtopic=92005 ...where he kills a very obvious analogue of Edward Cullen and wakes up with a smile on his face. God, I love my job! MM I love Mark Millar.
Dan_Dare Posted March 2, 2010 Posted March 2, 2010 ....Millar is writing Blade? Man, Nemesis is really close, isn't it? fuck yeah!
gmac Posted March 2, 2010 Posted March 2, 2010 yeah in the 2nd arc of Ultimate Avengers he's got Blade in the team
Dan_Dare Posted March 2, 2010 Posted March 2, 2010 Fuckin A. Millar is great fun to read. Not the most subtle guy but he's wickedly entertaining.
ReZourceman Posted March 2, 2010 Posted March 2, 2010 Although Robert Kirkman is my favourite writer, Mark Millar is my absolute idol. He really is. I love watching video interviews with him. He's so passionate, and he just completely "gets" the medium, and seems completely down to Earth. <3
Happenstance Posted March 2, 2010 Posted March 2, 2010 Too stunning. Now because of that we are no longer friends and im not coming to the meet
Paj! Posted March 2, 2010 Posted March 2, 2010 How dare you? ReZ has just realised the potential for stunning to become a "thing".
ReZourceman Posted March 2, 2010 Posted March 2, 2010 Why is the White Lantern Corps logo different between; Blackest Night #7 Final Page & Blackest Night #8 cover and Everywhere else (GL52, GLC....new issue) etc. Strange. PS I actually made a t-shirt if anyone wants it. In fact I think I did a fucking amazing job to be honest. I did it from scratch.
gmac Posted March 3, 2010 Posted March 3, 2010 woot 4th and final collected volume of Planetary is released this week plus I've just ordered the 2 big hardcover collections out so far for Brubaker's Cap run, not read anything earlier than #600 so can't wait to read the whole run
Happenstance Posted March 3, 2010 Posted March 3, 2010 Not suprising really, New Avengers makes Marvel a lot of money so they'd want to keep Spidey and Wolverine on it. I would say it just means we get to read an Avengers book without them but I still quite enjoy New Avengers so it doesnt bother me too much.
Paj! Posted March 3, 2010 Posted March 3, 2010 Maybe New Avengers will be the similar/same roster as before, all the kinda "Marvel Knights" -esque ones, while Avengers has the "actual" avengers.
gmac Posted March 3, 2010 Posted March 3, 2010 yeah it's like "look here, it's the same lineup as before" hardly needs advertising for this so far, or even a renumbering
Happenstance Posted March 3, 2010 Posted March 3, 2010 So whos gonna be in the full line up then? Im thinking Cage, Spidey, Wolverine, Dr Strange, Spider Woman and maybe Hawkeye and Mockingbird. Probably turning it into a street level team so no heavy hitters. (I know Dr Strange is pretty powerful but you dont always see that with him and hes been with the team a lot recently)
