Paris

I can't sleep so thought I might aswell see if any of you have been to Paris before? Its just i'm going with a couple of mates on tuesday and wanted to know if theres any places I should visit?

 

I know there's the obvious but is there anything else?

I've been four or five times, and as far as I could tell, there's not much there apart from the obvious. I did stumble across the place where Diana died, purely by chance, the last time I went, though. I also happened to sit down on the Metro opposite a friend from uni, who I had no idea was in France, which was a bit of a freaky coincidence!

It's shit. Don't go into any public toilets at any of those service stations should you stop at one... fucking dirty French wankers.

I went to Paris when I was 4, and went to Disneyland Paris :D:D

 

And I ate some whelks.

I found Paris to be very dirty. People moan about London being dirty but it's nothing compared to Paris.

 

However there are some good places to visit and some cool bars to go to at night.

I went to Paris last year and it was awesome. As for things to do, well it kind of depends what you're after. I suppose I can only tell you what I did and enjoyed:

• Trip on the Seine - wasn't very expensive but quite cool
  
• Cité des Sciences et de l'Industrie - big ole science museum that's good fun if you like that kind of thing (in fact that whole area is great) Site
  
• Touristy stuff like Eiffel Tower and the big glass Pyramids outside the Louvre
  
• Palace of Versailles is pretty cool, especially the fountains and gardens
  
• Notre Dame
  
• Tour Montparnasse - tallest building in France, make sure you go just before it goes dark so you can get the best of both worlds - you can go and stand on the helipad at the top which is COOL Site
  
• Oh and make sure you go to La Défense - it's the business district but the views and the buildings there are well cool, and worth it if you're on the Metro anyway
  

Oh and make sure you walk near the Tower at night - that's very nice as well!

I've only ever been to Disneyland Paris. Which is nice, Charles De Gaule airport isn't so bad either.

Paris is a lot of fun. Especially disney land. But the french are just sooo dirty and arrogant try not to let them get to you cause they seem to REALLY hate you English people for a reason i don't know(you did save their asses in WW2).

 

It'd only good though if you know where you are going though it's massive and so easy to get lost.

I won't get lost, I know my french. But if I do, thats just part the fun. When I was in prague I just wondered round not knowing where I was going and I loved it.

Awesome, thanks for the info. I'd heard about that, some of my mates went on a school trip saw loads of street artists etc.

Excelle pretty much summed up the attractions. I found it really overrated (maybe cos I hated DisneyLand?) but it is a nice city and you will enjoy yourself!

I was in prague last year and this random bum put down his bad full of alcohol, got his knob out and went for a piss agaisnt this guys car while he was in it. The police walked by and did nothing and the guy then just hobbled off. The street was packed and no one batted an eyelid. (sorry for the vaguely graphic description lol)

You guys don't know France at all. I don't like France that much but in general the people are nice, most of the time clean and well mannered.

 

The people you lot were describing were Parisans. They are arrgorant, stuck up etc.

 

Trust me, Paris is nothing like the rest of France.
