Paj! Posted January 26, 2010 Posted January 26, 2010 The female archer is definitely one of, if not the, best of that kinda female I've seen of yours. Can't fault it really. It all seems to work.
Ashley Posted January 26, 2010 Posted January 26, 2010 Vikki Blows? Looks familiar anyway. Good work anyway, like em
Grazza Posted January 26, 2010 Posted January 26, 2010 Vikki Blows? Looks familiar anyway. What the...?!! I cannot believe you got that! I didn't even copy an image of her. I just saw her on the cover of Loaded last month and memorised everything I liked - the pout, the cheekbones, the eye make-up, as well as the hips, waist and breasts. Cannot believe you got that...
Paj! Posted January 27, 2010 Posted January 27, 2010 Well that's kinda what she looks like. And Ashley lives with a porn star or something so knows all these people. [/made-up, twisted version of the facts]

I thought Vikki Blows as well. It does look a lot like her. Good job, You should send it in to magazines. I'm sure they'd show it in the letters section or something. I know Front have a section for this sort of stuff.

Dude I've got mad skills. Well that's kinda what she looks like. And Ashley lives with a porn star or something so knows all these people. [/made-up, twisted version of the facts] Pretty much, yup. She was also the inspiration for Varla Guns (House of the Dead: Overkill). Everyone loves trivia.

Even though that artist is far more talented than me, you're right. I suppose the thrill of art is in depicting something, and so I get the biggest thrill when someone notices something I haven't really mentioned, such as the triceratops or Vikki here. Even when someone says something like "the hand" or "the leg". After all, it's only a few lines of pencil or ink.
Ashley Posted February 20, 2010 Posted February 20, 2010 Speedy response would be greatly appreciated (as I hope to print this off tomorrow): Yay, nay? There will be a blurb thing on the back. But mostly opinions on the blurring/whiteness of the front (will do it more accurately, this was just a test)? Or what if I make the background B&W? Or just leave it as a standard photograph? The border things are obviously a guideline that won't be printed. Oh and think I should change it to "Wedding photographs" so it doesn't appear to be a video...? Oh and speaking of the title, tried it with a shape behind (rather than blurred brush) but it looked so phoney. Anyone know of any good mask brushes. I lost all mine ages ago
Grazza Posted February 20, 2010 Posted February 20, 2010 It looks really good as it is, Ashley. I'd go with it, it works.
Ashley Posted February 20, 2010 Posted February 20, 2010 Wow quicker response than I anticipated o_O Cheers. Here's the other design I've just done, bit classier: (again, will neaten up photoshopping tomorrow)
Grazza Posted February 20, 2010 Posted February 20, 2010 Wow quicker response than I anticipated o_O Oh yeah, just seen the time you posted it. I actually assumed I was late, because I haven't been in from work all that long. Here's the other design I've just done, bit classier: (again, will neaten up photoshopping tomorrow) Yeah, I suppose it is. Nicer proportions too, although I really do like them both.
Eenuh Posted February 21, 2010 Posted February 21, 2010 I like the second version as it gives off a cleaner look. However I do think it might look a bit nicer if you used one photo on the front and made it a bit bigger. So a bit less of the white border (same for the back really). =)
Ashley Posted February 21, 2010 Posted February 21, 2010 This is the final (countdown! dooo doo, doo do dah doo!) design: Now just to get it printed.
Goafer Posted February 22, 2010 Posted February 22, 2010 The only thing I would improve is the "Wedding Photographs" on the spine. It looks a bit crammed in. Other than that, it looks really good. Very professional.

Very professional. I think its a trick of the eye. Its the same font size, I think because the space is more limited it looks bigger...or at least more crammed. But then I suppose if the space is more limited then it is more crammed. ALAS! The final one is the best by far. Thanks All printed, trimmed and in the cases. Now just to do the DVD part...
Paj! Posted February 26, 2010 Posted February 26, 2010 I needs helps pleases. Can someone tell me how to make the black background (and therefore the lines in word "DIRTY" ) become transparent? I'm using GIMP 2.6 atm, and the word transparent is around, but I dunno how to "bucket fill" in transparency. :P Thanks in advance. It's for some friend's band.
Eenuh Posted February 26, 2010 Posted February 26, 2010 I don't know how Gimp works, but I think if you want it to be transparent, you'll have to select the black colour and simply get rid of it. If you were to do it in photoshop you'd just have to make sure there's a layer beneath it that doesn't have a background colour (so is transparent). Might be the same in Gimp?
Paj! Posted February 26, 2010 Posted February 26, 2010 Oh. I think I did it! I assumed it would involve loads of terrifying hard things. Thanks.
Eenuh Posted February 26, 2010 Posted February 26, 2010 So it worked? =D Cause I tried it with the one you posted but then noticed it had lots of grey pixels so it didn't work well. But if you use a high quality file to do it on then it should work fine. ^___^
Paj! Posted February 26, 2010 Posted February 26, 2010 (edited) Yeah, it seems fine. I left the grey bits on the end of the white lines just cause they make it less stark/sharp. EDIT: Shut up in zoom yeah it's liney still, but meh, it was just to use as an example. I can get rid of the grey bits later. Edited February 26, 2010 by Paj!
Grazza Posted March 1, 2010 Posted March 1, 2010 Following a request from a friend, I've been dabbling in the "tribal" style (segmented) recently. However, I've completed his tattoo and I've now gone back to my trusty old style! Any comments or advice on this pencil sketch would be welcome:
Goafer Posted March 2, 2010 Posted March 2, 2010 Was going to post these in the sig thread, but didn't want to ruin the flow. Can't decide which one I prefer. I can't even decide if I want to use them or not.
chairdriver Posted March 2, 2010 Posted March 2, 2010 The top one is the best; it's stunning. The bottom 2 are too messy for my eyes.
