Amon Posted March 16, 2007 Posted March 16, 2007 Baten Kaitos (both of them). The lack of real j-RPGs was a constant nag for me on the GC, so when Baten Kaitos came along I went totally nuts for the game, and now I really look forward for every RPG that either Monocrest, Tri-Crescendo or Namco developes (with the clear expection of Tales of-series) for a Nintendo-console. Heck, I even imported Xenosaga I&II DS, even when I knew it would be text-heavy with a very long intro.
Zechs Merquise Posted March 16, 2007 Posted March 16, 2007 I think Resident Evil 4 was a shock too, as in it's early development you couldn't tell which way it was going to go. There was that weird footage of Leon just running down hexagonal corridors and rumours of Leon having contracted the T-virus ahd going to 'the very heart of Umbrella'. In the end it turned out very different and become a true timeless classic that blew me away in every way.
darksnowman Posted March 16, 2007 Posted March 16, 2007 Other! It wasnt a shock that F-Zero GX is a classic, and I've never played Animal Crossing on the GameCube. What about Tales o' Symphonia? Baten Kaitos? Skies of Arcadia? Fire Emblem? I suppose I was expecting those games to be something special so here are two that shocked me: Billy Hatcher and Beyond Good and Evil.
gaggle64 Posted March 16, 2007 Posted March 16, 2007 Let us not forget the raging recriminations following "Celda" either.
mcj metroid Posted March 16, 2007 Posted March 16, 2007 well shock is difficult. i always had faith in metroid prime even though idiots slated an early version of it but i never took to f-zero games until the amazing gx. It is a perfect video game
