Cube Posted January 21, 2007 Posted January 21, 2007 http://www.engadget.com/2007/01/19/the-wii-laptop/ t's the Wii laptop! We spent the last few weeks (including much time spent over the holidays evading relatives) slaving over this bad boy and finally it's complete. Check out the features: * 16:9 widescreen LCD, 7-inch diagonal. * Stereo sound * Gamecube controller port * Built-in short range Sensor Bar * Ports for using original Sensor Bar and A/V output jacks (for use on external display) * Built-in power supply and compartment for power cord * Dimensions: 8.5 x 7.7 x 2-inches Starting next Tuesday we'll be doing a multi-part How-To with detailed instructions for building your own Wii laptop, as well as loads of photos of the construction process. But for now check out the gallery for more detailed photos of the unit, and click on to see some video of the Wii laptop in action. Looks ace. Wouldn't to anything like that myself tho.
arab_freak Posted January 21, 2007 Posted January 21, 2007 It looks cool, but I can't play with a screen that small (or one gamecube controller port).
Dcubed Posted January 21, 2007 Posted January 21, 2007 Nice! But playing Wii games on the go would be impossible thanks to the Motion Control. I'd love to see Ben Heckendorf make a Wii handheld though, would be great for the Virtual Console!
Jasper Posted January 21, 2007 Posted January 21, 2007 Say what you want, but it looks kind off, say, ugly? Yes, that's definitly the word. No, fugly is the word. Apparantly. No, this thing is looking as if it was the first ever laptop made by Apple (get your wikipedia running: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Macintosh_Portable ) and that's not close to a compliment. i'de rather pack my TV, Wii and a car battery to get it running. And why would anyone want that anyway? To take it over to a friends house or to play with it in the park? Next to your best friends playing soccer and rugby on the field, and you would be playing Wii? Technology is a strange thing. it's the first time I realize that home consoles still have a right to exist. Without home console, we wouldn't be able to play Wii. You can turn any console into a handheld, but a Wii is just not cut out for it. Wii : 1 - 0 : Other consoles with regular controller.
solitanze Posted January 21, 2007 Posted January 21, 2007 It looks like aN OVERSIZED Gameboy Advance SP.
Guest Stefkov Posted January 21, 2007 Posted January 21, 2007 I like the look of this. Are the people who made it the same who made the 360 laptop, that was a piece of genious, inbuilt keyboard etc. wouldnt do anything like that to my Wii, unless I had a spare.

Flaight Posted January 21, 2007 Posted January 21, 2007 lol that's cool. Personally (for the first time in my console history) I REQUIRE the screen to be big enough (I'd say 19 inch upward) for Wii controls, but nice engineering.
