just an idea here since I don't own a Wii, but is it possible to remove the firmware update (like returning it to factory settings) thus allowing you to use you're freeloader again? obviously this wouldnt be a long term solution. I think the PSP had something like that.

Hey some posters at GAF and Gamefaqs and few other forums are claiming this new update now makes the fan run while in WiiConnect24 mode...can anyone here confirm this? This would put an end to the overheating worries some posters here have had.

Taken from Neo GAF: (thanks to EphemeralDream ) Channels: -Digital Clock added to the Wii Menu right under the channel bar -Forecast Channel now displays the current condition (cloudy, raining, etc.) directly in the Wii Menu in the Forecast Channel box -News Channel can now show 2 scrolling headlines at a time in the Wii Menu, 3 when you click on the button (supposedly this requires occasional downloading of the headlines to keep the ticker updated) -Message Board now has the "Today's Accomplishments" message as a white message which allows it to stand out from other messages -Address Book entries can now be shifted around using A+B (supposed to be a launch feature) but only to empty spaces. Not too convenient. -Calendar in Message Board no longer shows "Today's Accomplishment" only days as having messages -Scrolling messages in the Message Board now uses a different sound Wii Shop Channel Overhauled (Visual aesthetic is the same, changes made to organization and browsing methods mostly) -New Welcome screen detailing 4 Recommended Titles and the points they cost (gone is the title screen bar that had linkable games). The title bar can be clicked on to bring up a list of 20 recommended games. -Titles You've Downloaded was moved to the main shop menu -New ways to browse -Popular Titles (2 pages of 10 and includes launch games so not only based on recent info) -Newest Additions remains the same -Search for a title which can use partial names -Search by Category -System shows the different systems and how many titles have been released under each -Publisher showing different publishers and amount of titles released (Nice logos!) -Genre (different genres listed and amount of titles under each) Settings -Warning added pre-system update detailing that technically modified consoles may cease to function upon being updated. Also the only way to not accept an update is to power down the console by holding the button for 4 seconds (the user can't back out of hitting I Accept w/o powering down)

Ikes Special Moves today: Ike’s up special move, obviously, is "Aether". And it is ethereal. Oh, yes. Up Special Move: Aether First he throws the sword! Then he leaps after it and catches it in midair! Then he swiftly plunges, slicing the air! Of special importance is the fact that he is resistant to attacks for a moment right after throwing his sword. He’s not flinching?! He’s not really invincible – he still takes damage. But he won’t flinch in the slightest. This time, there are several moves like this among the heavy characters, so watch out! Oh, he also has this special move... Standard Special Move: Eruption His standard special move is called Eruption! You can even charge this one up.

Because they no longer hold the license for the ads that where in the original Wave Race 64, they've been replaced with Wii and DS ads instead: I think thats pretty cool. Better then just leaving it blank anyway. http://kotaku.com/gaming/our-baby%2C-grown-up/wave-racer-64-now-has-ads-for-the-wii-286489.php -
Jet Set Radio could be done on the Wii, when you tag on a wall, you could hold the Wiimote up right holding the A button and moving the Wiimote around to make the graffiti. You could even have to shake the Wiimote before hand just like a spray can. He kind of has a point, whats the Wii going to add to any of the other titles that the PS3and 360 can't.

Like the last poster said, 1, 2 and 3 are the mains ones but if you want to play the original Metal gear games that where on the MSX and NES, then you could buy Metal Gear Solid 3: Subsistence for the PS2 which has the 2 games as an Extra. Also, Metal Gear Portable Ops for the PSP which is set about 6 years after etal gear solid 3 might be worth buying ( I havent played that one though).

I'm thought I'd asked this in this thread before but I couldnt find it in my post history: Smash brothers Melee could go online useing an exploit and Phantasy star online and the gamecube modem (there are some video's of it on youtube). If anyone here has tried it, how well did that fair online lag wise?

I'm really glad they are referenceing DK Jungle beat (even if that stage doesnt remind of any stage from the game). Kinda disapointed that its a scrolling level though. I wonder if this means there's a chance that one of DKJB's boss's might be another playable character, like dread Kong or Karate Kong. I'm pretty sure this means a couple of Assist trophys from that game

Thats from an Interview from last years E3, so I guess even if we can't fight each other online there still be co-op online or something. Although I'd like both options.

Very strange update this morning simply called "This world..." http://www.smashbros.com/en_uk/gamemode/modea/modea01.html Looks lik stills from prehaps the opening FMV. I'm guessing that purple thing is the new end boss. edit-Zelda Rulez beat me to it

When Samus destroys her Power Suit, she’s left with the Zero Suit. What she’s lost in power and weaponry, she makes up for in speed! Once she turns that Paralyzer in her hand into a whip, she has quite a long reach as well! Not exactly the straightforward fight you thought it was, huh?

NTSC version PAL: For some reason the boarders on the side of the screen have been changed to just plain black in the PAL release.
-
They could make games like Smash brothers brawl have a worldwide release if they wanted to its just very easy to treat Europe like crap and get away with it.

Quite surprised about the fact that giving a game an AO rating in the states is pretty much the kiss of death because Sony and Nintendo will not allow AO games to be relased on the console.

Same story at Kotaku. http://kotaku.com/gaming/original/nintendo-nixes-ao-manhunt-270741.php
-
What do you think will happen now..canned or rockstar will tone it down to an M rated game (although that'll make the game delayed until later in the year)
-
Looks like America won't be getting this game too because of the AO rating... http://www.gamespot.com/news/6172830.html

Just a head up, gamespots live web show On the spot" they'll be playing is Resident Evil 4 Wii edition. Its on live now, not sure if they passed RE4 already but it'll be on the archive afterwards. http://uk.gamespot.com/pages/features/onthespot/index.php The way I see it, its just more options for control, I mean the normal cube controls where perfect and the Wiimote is just as good (not better just different)
