Thanks! Doubt I'll ever save the money though, it's a bit of a luxury...:-(

Noone's mentioned Truxton on the Mega Drive. I hadn't played that game for bout 8 years, fired it up again and it was exactly how I remembered it...aah! And Toejam and Earl on Mega Drive of Course :-)

Hi audiophiles, I've just acquired my brother's room now he's gone to uni, which means an awesome Sony amplifier, Sub-woofer, two front, two back and center speakers!! Yay! Anyway, it sounds brilliant with DVDs obviously, and I run my CDs through it to nice effect, but I do recall, several years ago, being introduced to the wonders of the 30th anniversary Pink Floyd Dark Side Of the Moon SACD hybrid through an SACD set-up at my Dad's old friends' house. Now, bear, with me, I don't have this CD, and my DVD player is a cheapass Compacks tv/dvd combi, and I wouldn't mind getting an SACD player cheaply, but a quick search on Amazon reveals two DVD/SACD players that are no longer for sale through the website. Is the system obsolete? I would love to get it started, but is it pointless; are there not enough SACDs out there, or is it too expensive? Would appreciate some help there! PS, While I'm on the subject of um, music, what would you guys personally go for out of the iRiver 20gb H10, iAudio 20gb something or other or the Toshiba Gigabeat 20gb, bearing in mind that mic recording is essential, colour screen/photos a nice bonus, and sound quality important. Thanks!

Hey children, check out this - video.google.com - dunno how long it's been around for but it's fucking brilliant for finding videos, gonna do for them what Image search did for, um, images. Go on, just search Rudess to see what I mean . Enjoy! [Title Edited by Me....Platty - Keep the swearing down please, and DO NOT use naughty words in a thread title. Thanks - platty]

Well, if you were hoping for RH to carry on a more rock n roll sound, you'd obviously find Kid A and Amnesiac a bit 'boring' (pains me to say it!). First time I heard Kid A, i was a bit "what the fuck." Then, after a week of solid listenage, it just clicked with me that this was some of the most beautiful music I'd ever heard, mostly as energetic as their previous stuff (national anthem, morning bell and idioteque certainly testify to that), but whirling synths and ambience, bizarre orchestration and headspinning jazzy brass just seem to work so well with Thom Yorke's voice and the image Radiohead create. It's brilliant, Kid A and OK Computer are equals IMO. Anyway, completely unrelated but Safe as Milk by Captain Beefheart and his Magic Band, and Soft Machine Volume 1 & 2 are favourites of mine, any love for them?

I really like this poem, by Simon Armitage. Plenty to analyse, and any poetry that makes the hairs on the back of my neck rise is a winner in my books... I Say I Say I Say Anyone here had a go at themselves for a laugh? Anyone opened their wrists with a blade in the bath? Those in the dark at the back, listen hard. Those at the front in the know, those of us who have, hands up, let's show that inch of lacerated skin between the forearm and the fist. Let's tell it like it is: strong drink, a crimson tidemark round the tub, a yard of lint, white towels washed a dozen times, still pink. Tough luck. A passion then for watches, bangles, cuffs. A likely story: you were lashed by brambles picking berries from the woods. Come clean, come good, repeat with me the punch line 'Just like blood' when those at the back rush forward to say how a little love goes a long long long way. Simon Armitage nice.

Yeah you've got a point Wes, come to think of it, who are we to stop the paedophiles, rapists and other criminals from having their own way of life and doing whathever they feel is right? Bit extreme perhaps, but c'mon, in the words of Judge Dredd..."I. Am. The LAW!" So keep your little freedom to torture animals bullshit to yourself weslie.

Donnie Darko (for those of you who have seen it)
Schizoid Man replied to Schizoid Man's topic in General Chit Chat
Haha, the fat chinese girl scene is hilarious - "wanna bit?" "CHUT UP!" "go back to china beetch!" -
Wes, yeah, I'm a regular visitor and occasional member of atease, the fans on there are pretty crazy, like all that "WHAT IF RH WERE DOGS?" and "Thoms lips!" and that. Good source of unreleased and live stuff, but most of 'em can't stand Coldplay or even Muse. Respect, anyway, I have all LPs but Pablo Honey, 2EPS (I Might Be Wrong and Com Lag), a couple of their live sets (both Glasto's are incredible, and Berlin 2001 for THAT Kid A), and about half their B sides. Also, Bionic whashis face, hey!, nice to know there are people (or person, even) on this board who appreciate prog rock past Pink Floyd, and King Crimson really are incredible.

Steve Vai - Tender Surrender...I salute you, that song is awesome. Although I'd personally go for Touching Tongues :-P. Also, Stockholm Syndrome - Muse, and Karma Police - Radiohead are very orgasmic,. so why not?
-
Hold on, so you like Radiohead?! bastardface I can't get enough of Larks' Tongues in Aspic by King Crimson, incredible progressive rock band from the 70s. More bands should have two percussionists, Jamie Muir's playing is incredible. *Proud to start all the good music love*

Donnie Darko (for those of you who have seen it)
Schizoid Man replied to Schizoid Man's topic in General Chit Chat
Hey Aimless, that's cool, whereabouts do you live? I'm in shitty Yelland. Actually do you go ND College? *looks around in a frenzy* Anyway, erm, where do I find this Philosophy of time travel book? I've only got the first release of the DVD which I snagged for a fiver, and I heard the director's cut sort of messed with it's greatness...So Frank travelled back in time, but how did he if he was already dead. The reasoning I've heard is that, in escaping death, Donnie creates a tangent universe in which he survives, which is apparently paradoxical enough to lead to the world's collapse in 28 days. Frank the rabbit, as an apparition, tells Donnie to do various destructive things that lead to the moment of Frank's death and Donnie's understanding - Burns down Patrick Swayze paedophile (brilliant!) house t reveal evidence -> irritating teacher rallies for him so can't go to Donnie's sisters dance off -> Mrs. Darko must go instead -> Donnie and sister throw a party -> Girlfriend gets ran over, Donnie shoots Frank. It probably goes back further than that but meesh. -
Jeff Wayne's War of The Worlds is fantastic, although I haven't heard since I was a small boy, my Dad sold the vinyl since. So my (post getting job) plan is to buy the recent reissue, have some pipage in the early hours, and have an amazing flashback/nostalgia filled time. All I remember is "The chances of anything coming from Mars were a million to one he said." hmm.

Led Zep III actually  And horny song yes.

Okay, I've seen it a couple of times, the website is a pain in the ass, and I can't be bothered with the IMDB forums. Does anyone want to explain what's going on in this brilliant, but baffling film. Why does the guy's dead-from-the-future mate prophesise about the end of the world to him in his party costume, and when the time comes, why does he go back to the start. I know he lets himself die to stop things from fucking up majorly with Gretchen, but ain't there more to it than that? Enlighten me, or just discuss this great film.
-
Or any Death From Above 1979 really, did anyone check out their album, cos it was brilliant.
-
Hey, Lammie, sounds like we share musical tastes, cos we both love Radiohead and Muse. Are you a Volta fan? Radiohead, I'd say OK Computer > Kid A > HTTT > Amnesiac > The Bends, although they're all bloody fantastic. My favourite kind of music is the sort that makes the hair on your neck standup, that nerve twitching thing, and for that, my favourite bands, in no particular order, are Jeff Buckley, Sigur Ros, The Mars Volta, Radiohead, Muse, The Doors, Pink FLoyd, King Crimson, and The Jimi Hendrix. I also love Dreamtheater, Tool, Yes, Led Zeppelin, The Who, The Stones, Polar Bear, Brian Auger and the Trinity, Santana, and some others, but not quite as much.

Heh Heh, I'd suggest So What by Miles Davis, gives you a bit of tipsy confidence, and lets you get started as THAT trumpet solo kicks in.

Hahaha, that's so true, typical hometime munchies include a ham sandwich, two packs of crisps (french fries and frazzles are favourites), a twix finger or two, and if we can mission it down to the 24 hour garage, a chicken slice. Another mantra we developed was "bananas and shrimps...!" whenever we had munchies from an early stonage where we found ourselves with a large bags of foamy bananas and shrimps from the BP garage and they were so, so delicious. Also, I recommend turkish delight, that is a flavour explosion. And thanks Schpickles, I've seen plenty of 'Do or don't?' threads, it's a completely individual thing, you either take (and take note of) the risks involved, or you look after your health a bit more and miss out on the brilliant sensory overload stuff, music, films (fight club is highly recommended high, and donnie darko) it creates. Anyway, to those out there drinking frequently, and warning us of the dangers of Cannabis, the main risk is the same with both drugs - that you'll get sick of soberness and get addicted or whatever. Anyway, BACK ON TOPIC, Climbing up the Walls by Radiohead is bloody terrifying if you've smoked enough, and me and my mate also listened to Sober by Muse, which was brilliant, and Stockholm Syndrome, which intesifies the orgasmic chorus even more. Quality bands. Shit, can I also add Bitches Brew by Miles Davis, which is absolutely intense.
-
Of course, everyone into Radiohead don't value other's opinions on drugs, because they're into (yawn) depressing shit, or are all complete druggies or something. Wes, you're an eejit.

Can someone please make me a sig thing please
Schizoid Man replied to starscream316's topic in General Chit Chat
I would really appreciate it if someone took my sig and put Schizoid Man on it in cool lettering. I would send that person a cool song. -
Twozzok I give 9/10, because it's catchy, eccentric, doesn't take itself too seriously, and is likeable.

I think you need to chill out just a tad. I smoked weed rather too frequently in the summer holidays between AS and A2, went on a ten day holiday without the stuff, and now back at college I have reduced my intake to a spliff or three on a Friday night, and sometimes a joint in the four hours of free lessons I have on a Wednesday. Work comes first, but I'm not gonna kick the habit when there are so many great experiences I've had, and willl have, until I can say I'll be happy without the stuff. My life doesn't depend on my 'stash', I won't touch skunk, and I don't know best, but do know that starting getting stoned is something I won't regret because I'm intelligent enough to know it's a bad thing to go to far. Phew, any more albums anyone cares to add? ________ magic flight launch box
