As dazzy said, the device doesn't work by pinting it at teh screen, it works by being sensed by the sensors inside the revolution and the sensors that will be placed on top of the tv.

I still think people are expecting way too much from the revolution pad; lets wait till the games are showm, I think there is a possibility that most will be disapppointed.

^^That is what is making me finally get excited; the fact you won't have to prance around like a prat to play the game; you'll still be able to sit down on the sofa, but you just have to move the pad a slight bit more compared to last gen.

When you think about it, only slight movements may be needed. For example, in a game like zelda, people say attacking could be done by slashing. More likely is that the programmers will code it so a swift flick to the left/right will result in a side swipe attack, a flick up/down will result in an upward/downward slash. People seem to be jumping to the conclusion that you're of screen movements will be mimmiced onscreen....i think my idea is more plausable, with the directional movements of the pad just offering more input devices for commands.

Browsing through a few of my non-nintendo forums has brought me some laughs, none more so than pesinsight.com. here are a few remarks that have got me semi-seething;(my commentary in brackets) Dan19: Further proof nintendo is for kids(can't nintendo do anything without this lable??) Wi-Fi is a way of connecting to the internet throgh you existing broadband connection and a router/nintendo usb wi/fi device. If you already have a router and BB connection, everything is more or less ready to go. If you don't have a router, you can buy one or the USB thingy and then you are ready to go when the online games come ouut.

I read an interesting article yesterday(i'll try and find it) where a nintendo rep states that with the DS announcement in January, they only announced the two screens, because they couldn't show the touchscreen working properly because of lack of software, so that is why they delayed the announcement till E3. He noted that this is a similar situation with the revolution.

I'm a hardcore gamer; i've grown to love the design and connotations of the pad. I feel most hardcore gamers will see this as the only way to further the industry, and stop an inevatible crash. I believe a lot of hardcore gamers will buy this purely for this fact. However, the guys that don't access forums, the guys that only play games like Fifa, GT and GTA, they won't give a rats ass about it. These make up a larger percentage of gamers, and in the end, the future of gaming is in their fifa stained hands.

The people on gamespot are the hardcore gamers. Normal gamers don't access the net to talk about games, they're the people whose opinion is going to shape the next gen, so online polls on videogame forums don't mean anything(imo).

There is nothing solid to base any predictions on right now, apart from one showing of a joypad, that tells us Nintendo are either gonna lose embarassingly, or dramatically reinvigorate the market; we don't know which yet though, do we?

I don't mean the analogue add-on. Nintendo have confirmed that they are making a traditional joypad so that 3rd party games that won't make use of Ninty's innovations can easily be ported.

No, you could just use the shell controller that Nintendo is making. The free-hand device can be used as a nes pad, as it is very much like it.

Here is my grans staff, Lucy, who we got a few months ago(my nan died so we took her in). She is quite big, but shes about 7/8 now, so i'll allow it.

So; It's ok for somebody to predict that it'll be awesome, but when somebody predicts it'll be crap, 'oh noes, I can't believe that-how can they say it'll suck-they haven't tried it' Thats the thing none of use know if it'll be good/bad-we all have our own opinions, including scott, and we are all entitled to them, as at the moment, no one can say if we are right or wrong.
