It just looks like they have reduced the level of detail on Pit. Perhaps to make the game run more smoothly.

Woah. The effects are looking smashtacular in comparison.

I think the scanning is too slow. It interrupts the flow of the game. Also when the levels are too complex it can get annoying. You just want to move forward sometimes.
